Nice suggestion. Would also make a simple crafting object. Input: Hand reel + wooden pole. output = fishing rod. Maybe the difference could then be how far you could throw the bait into the water and what kind of fishes you could catch at that distance -

Another addition to this idea that just slipped in my mind. What if the gun's internals where classified as objects. That would allow for crafting weapons, swapping out barrels for different ranges etc. Also you could sabotage a gun by installing a broken component into it. -

I do not completely understand how the alpha planning works. Subreddit mods and forum mods where already playing a build from dayz since about a month or so ( was that alpha or pre alpha?). Which they described as a closed test. Yesterday rocket tweeted that today the closed alpha would start. But then I heard numbers like 30 -100 people. I thought the closed alpha was also for streamers and youtubers. So the real closed alpha still has to come?? Could someone describe me the roadmap for the alpha because I don't understand it -

That is exactly the uncertain bit thank you. Because I heard statements yesterday like: DayZ is now in alpha! Large scale test tomorrow. From which I hastely concluded that must have been the closed alpha for the 1000 keys that where given to YTrs. Thanks for the clear answers guys -

try turning off AA and post process because 15-25 is way to low for those specs. Also try some other servers with better ping Edit: The performance gain from going to a 3770k is notacable but I wouldn't expect anything more than 10 fps. A 3350P is capable enough Edit: also if you have a ridiculously old hard drive that can cause massive frame drops when zooming in and turning ( loading in new models/textures basically)

Closed Alpha had no NDA right? I think all the video material that will produce will keep us entertained for a good bit of time

End June is not delaying it in my opinion. I just think they will need some time to address the feedback from the closed alpha.

He twittered that the closed alpha will start tomorrow. My guess is that there will be a closed alpha for a week or two (or three), then fix some bugs those bring up. And directly after that release so my guess is the public alpha will come end june.

Sure is smooth as silk. But keep in mind that those numbers I have got using an SSD to store arma 2. Don't get me wrong you will still get the same performance, but if you zoom in with your scope for instance or you quickly turn the camera an old hard drive will have a hard time sending all the textures to the RAM which will result in some 'stuttering' . Whether you find that annoying is just personal preference but I wanted to point that out to you

Depends really on the server's ping and your quality settings If the server has <30 ping and you set the spec to very high (without AA and without Post process) you should be able to push 50+ fps at 1080p

My first advise if you want to get the best performance for your money. 1: DONT buy a new case, just find an old pc and put your new parts in it 2: DONT buy a dvd drive because again some old pc will probably have one 3: DO buy a decent CPU, dayz depends almost equally on CPU as on GPU not like most games use more GPU than CPU Suggested spec list for 700$ i5 3570k GTX 660 (because of physx might be implemented) some 500 watt psu ( maybe an old pc might have one) 1 stick of 4gigs pc12800 cl9 mobo: B75 type mobo because if you want to overclock with a Z77 its going to cost a lot more

Wow that's pretty sad then. About that important stuff, rocket announced 4 hours ago he would disclose the release date expected time left tomorrow on reddit. Would have liked to see such major posts being done on these forums first. -
