Distinction between bandit and murderer?
RooBurger replied to RooBurger's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Interesting idea. But what if you kill someone who attacked you and then leave the area immediately to avoid bandits/zombies attracted to the noise? -
Distinction between bandit and murderer?
RooBurger replied to RooBurger's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
So you must also think that killing in self defense is exactly the same as killing a fresh spawn who is incapable of harming you. I'm sorry, that's really dumb. Wait, I bet you're one of those guys who camps at spawn points? -
Distinction between bandit and murderer?
RooBurger replied to RooBurger's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There are people who seek out a challenge, killing players who can actually fight back. If there is a bandit skin to single out murderers, there should be a skin for that special kind of penis who likes to kill fresh spawns who are defenseless. I personally kill anyone I see unless they're probably going to move away without seeing me or don't have a weapon. This is just because I've been burned too many times. So I end up with the same skin as some kid who sits at Komarovo with a sniper rifle killing people who have just spent 15 minutes trying to load back into the game. -
Personally I'm surprised they're planning to have the game out as early as this year. It takes a long time to develop professional games, I'll be very impressed if they have such a quick turnaround and actually manage to get out the alpha in December. To me it seems like DayZ is gaining momentum as far as development is concerned.

Based on the information I've seen in this thread, that video must be fake because Rocket never communicates and the stand alone will never be made.
-
You're posting on a forum for a game you say you're never going to play again. I think you're madder than anyone here.
-
Are you serious? You actually think they won't release the standalone?
-
oh hay guise wats goin on in this threa- FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU Where do these people come from?

Free mod. Free message board. No one here has any responsibility to be your servant. Even if none of this was free, on forums it's usually expected that you do a search before asking questions or starting threads.

More evidence for my theory that people hack because they can't stand losing, and hacking is more rife in DayZ because of the emotional effect it has on players. It's a victim of it's own success.
-
Totally understand.
-
Won't happen again, I just didn't think it would be a concern since it's so easy to find and hacks are openly discussed.
-
I heard an interview with a hacker yesterday, and when asked why he did what he did, he just said "I dunno... 'cause I'm bored I guess". I've heard that excuse a few times now, and I think that's a lie. Here's the real reason I believe most people hack: It's simply because they cannot handle that horrible feeling you get when you die in DayZ. There is more cheating in DayZ than any other game I've seen in my life. My theory is that because it's so realistic, unforgiving and raw, people who cannot psychologically handle this are far more likely to resort to hacks. They're precious snowflakes who are used to being the hero who conquers the world in video games, not a little guy just trying to eke out an existence on beans and water after the zombie holocaust.
-
Are people expecting it to look more like WarZ? Because I think that looks terrible. Far more cartoony.
-
What I understand is that fixing the hacking issues is extremely difficult. DayZ is practically just a big hack job on top of ARMA. They need to create the standalone if they really want to secure the game.
-
They're basing it on ARMA 2 and TOH because it will be more stable and secure on release than if they went with ARMA 3. As was mentioned, there will be improvements. This isn't a mod for ARMA 2 or 3, it's a new standalone game in it's own right.

These days I head inland and find there are a lot less hackers there. If you hang out on the south coast you'll definitely run into them allllll the time. They want instant gratification, so there's no reason to wander around the wilderness when they can play at Cherno or Elektro. And I still run into people up there, just less often, and 9/10 times they're not hacking. On the coast, it seems like 5/10 contacts are cheaters.
-
I hate these people, I really do. They obviously aren't playing the game for a challenge, they just want to ruin someone's day and get some quick kills in the easiest way possible. But I don't want to remove them. Knowing you might get killed the second you enter a server is just another cruel, unfair challenge in DayZ. Honestly, this is the kind of thing which makes me love the game.

I'm sick of KoS bandits and cowards
RooBurger replied to GBTP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is the real solution on a larger scale. Just as in reality, good people need to get organised and outgun the bad. Otherwise it's chaos. -
I'm sick of KoS bandits and cowards
RooBurger replied to GBTP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My last 3 deaths were because I trusted people. 3 in a row. After the second one I vowed never to trust anyone again. Killed a survivor, then a bandit and ended up with lots of gear. Then I trusted this guy who had no gear. Let him pick up a gun. Then I turn my back and... dead. The bandit skin is pretty useless. Seems like most people are wannabe bandits who just can't get the kills. I keep swinging between KoS and trusting new spawns / talkers. I hate to say it, but after playing for a couple of months and battling with this, I think I'll just have to KoS no matter what, even if they have no gear. Looks like I'm now a bandit. -
I just think it already looks pretty good. I wouldn't mind seeing improvements, but I'd rather see improvements to game mechanics, stability and security first. I won't be disappointed in the slightest if the graphics aren't better.
-
I don't think the graphics will change much, and I don't think that's necessary anyway.
-
"Chernarus has been revamped, with bug-fixing and a great deal more buildings have been made enter-able with a very high standard of work involved."
-
I think it's likely that a lot of the current bugs and security problems will be fixed/improved, but I'd expect some more problems as they introduce new features. That's why it'll be cheaper the earlier you buy it. You still have the choice to wait until it's more polished.

Depressingly slow? Compared to what? A couple of guys make a free mod about 4 months ago and you find it depressing that a stand alone hasn't been released yet?
