Is the ping manageable with people playing from Aus and places like the US? -

So you're based in Australia? -
Every Epoch server I've played on has safe zones. Are you saying that "standard" Epoch has no safe zones? Is that something created by server admin? Whether or not this is part of the mod, it doesn't change the fact that they exist. One of my favourite things to do is hunt spawn killers. It creates and ecosystem where I can become the next level up on the food chain. You don't have to go "hunting" either. Just set yourself a mission. Go into a town to look for a water bottle, for example. You'll probably end up in a situation where you have to think fast, problem solve on your feet, perhaps even negotiate with someone. probably die and have to start looting again. At the moment you have to create your own objectives because the way servers are run, it means there is no scarcity. The things you need are plentiful. If you pretend they aren't, you have many things to do. Shame it has to be that way, but it's the shitty state of the mod at the moment. Nothing wrong with base building and the video doesn't say there is.

Yes, it's a player created concept. If you get a couple of items and now think, "OK, I'm geared, guess I've reached the end game. There's nothing to do!" then you're simply imposing it on yourself. Gearing up means the game has just started. Now go find some trouble.

The title itself kind of sums up the video, added a short summary anyway.

Video commentary about how the concepts of end game and levelling aren't appropriate in DayZ. Was posted on Reddit yesterday and had a big response.

Yep, that would be very cool. You'd have to change your strategy every time.

Zombies don't need to spawn evenly across the whole map. It doesn't make sense that in every town there should be a consistent population of zombies according to the number of houses or whatever. There should be more zombies in some areas than others, places where very few Zs spawn, while other areas might have a horde of them. Random and uneven distribution with every server restart.

I want to get sniped. I want to get shot at and return fire, to interact with people in other ways too. DayZ is not a good game when played alone. These are literally the best 1stP servers I have access to. -

The same basic concept without 3P will probably take my money. I hate saying that as I'm a massive fan, but invisible periscope firefights really are that annoying to me. -

DayZ is possibly the best gaming experience I've ever had. For this I thank Rocket and totally respect what he and the team is doing. But honestly, I'm looking forward to other games which will be released in the future which are inspired by DayZ and first person only. -

Just had this gunfight where we were each on the other side of a small crest of ground. We were both behind cover, yet could see each other at the same time. We couldn't flank, couldn't move away or do anything without the other person knowing. I was moving left and right, his head was following. I got sick of it, stuck my head over and tried to take a shot with my piece of shit shotgun, he killed me firing in third person with his DMR. A really weird stand off only possible with third person.
