Hello All, I figured I would go ahead advertise my server here. It's already quite a busy server, being full at peak times, but I wanted to let everyone else know it was out there: The Drunken Huntsman 40 Slot Hardcore Server [ 23.250.11.194:2502 ] Forced restarts every 6 hours. This encourages people to get off of the coast and travel to many different places to get loot. If either admin is on, we give 10, 5, 3, 2 and 1 Minute Restart Warnings.Restart times are 12am, 6am, 12pm and 6pm Eastern Standard Time.Server is 5 hours of day and 1 hour of night time play. (This will spice things up a little for those night time lovers. Loot or fight under the cover of darkness for just a little while before a restart. Don't ditch that flashlight!)Zero admin abuse. Being an admin does not grant anyone the right to be a dick. We aren't dicks. We hate dicks. We encourage everyone to play using the playstyle they wish. Whether you want to help others out or hunt them, destroy their ego and then humiliate them before finally executing them, enjoy yourselves and the experience!BE Enabled (of course). Don't be a cheating, dickless nerd or you will get BE bant. While we will occasionally do anti-coastal bandit runs to clean up CoD children, and then hand out the goods to those less fortunate, we really encourage you to get off of the coast and do some exploring! There's plenty of gear out there for everyone, even on a 6 hour restart!Server is based out of NYC (East coast USA) (EST)Come join us! Bring your friends or meet new ones! Also, don't forget to add this server to your favorites so that you can find it easier later! See you in-game! :) :beans:

[DayZ SA] The Drunken Huntsman | NYC East Coast (EST) 40 Slot Hardcore (1st person only) Server (4.5 hrs day, 1.5 hrs night)
Gekkonidae replied to Gekkonidae's topic in Servers
Yeah sorry dudes. This server is dead. To do what you're asking though, we went through vilayer servers. Basically, you pick a server start time and aim for a target reset time that would accommodate the hours you want for day/night. Just gauge it. -
Hmm.. Before patch I had an alive char with decent stuff. Logged in after patch to a fresh spawn. Fine. I heard about the bug and all. Even neverminded the fact that I hadn't actually died, but whatever. Server reset. Logged back in, fresh spawn again. I would say this bug would be on a near unplayable level. I really hope they fix this soon :(

god damn it i hate it whenever I find a lone girl in dayz

I find that 90% of the time this is absolutely true. It doesn't always work, but most of the time it does. -
I do like the idea of an abandoned quarry where you could go and mine some of the rock there yourself. DayZ Origins mod had a couple of abandoned quarries you could gather rock from. It was nice, but snipers loved to camp them for people looking to mine. Cannot tell you how many times I was shot at while mining. I agree with the wood mill needing electricity though. I think using an axe to collect a bunch of wood is fine the way it is. I mean there are a shitload of trees everywhere you look on the map.

I nearly just spit coffee all over my monitor while reading this.

^That may be true, but as 'customers', we also agreed to the terms and conditions of what this Alpha actually is. It's not just some annoying pop-up ad that we just need to close every time we fire up the game. It has a pretty clear purpose. What a lot of 'customers' didn't do was understand what those terms and conditions actually mean. The willingness to actually do that is left to the user, and from what I can tell, many have failed miserably in doing so. That's not really their fucking problem, nor their focus (and really shouldn't be at all). The fact that they even released early access is, in my opinion, both generous and smart on their part. With the warning, you have to expect a shitload of bugs and broken things. The fact that some people think that releasing to early access that this was somehow a user's playground for setting any sort of expectations from the development team is laughable and petty at best. It may be true to a degree that these 'expectations' are taken into consideration, but certainly not to the level of some people whining and demanding. None of the negative whining helps, and only serves as more useless shit they need to filter through to get any kind of meaningful feedback. In short, they don't give a fuck and will make the game correctly, not to the will of a million whiney, screaming babies. What many of these people need to learn is one simple fact: You are not fucking entitled, so get over it. Your opinion may matter, but you should know that it is exactly that, an opinion only, and does not dictate what, how or when the team should do anything. That is their job and not yours. I think many people need to change the way they look at their own expectations here. I'm not directing this post to you specifically. I guess i'm just sick and tired of so many complaints and misunderstanding from the user base. Anyway, i'm bummed that they couldn't figure out a fix for the rubberbanding issue, but i'm really happy they've identified the cause and are working to correct it. It is quite a pain in the ass to deal with. I'm hoping they can correct it in fairly short order. Best update out there so far, just that damn rubberbanding!

Probably just unlucky. I found one in one of those huts the other day. Good to know. I'll just keep locating the white bark trees then. I've never personally pulled ashwood sticks from the darker bark trees either. Just wood and regular sticks. -

^Yep, you can find them there, and you can also chop down an ashwood tree for them. Ashwood trees look like this (with white-ish bark): Edit: I guess they can also look like this (though I usually just find one of the white bark trees): http://cloud-3.steampowered.com/ugc/3296945368939384875/1FA56FF83E1B63A9A149D9EE80FB0FA25622D244/ Get dat fishing and archery on my friend! As soon as this patch hits stable, i'm massing together a large group of people with bows and arrows running around in their underwear. -

^agreed. Exp servers are for testing shit out, not for testing shenanigans that would result in a lack of those testing shit out. I personally think it only hurts progression, if you're legit there to submit your findings. Pissing contests are reserved for stable releases is the mindset I carry. I'm careful and will watch like a predator, but I always let the other person go on their way. They never know. They are a tester just like everyone else. -

I was shot and killed on the exp. server for a the first time last night. :( Was in the new town trying to get geared up at night and huddled up against a wall to satiate my thirst. Guess I had a follower because I took 2 AK shots to the dome. No idea where the guy was, but he scored pretty much everything you'd need to craft a fire and mine rocks/wood. Anyway, yeah I saw some floating loot in some of the buildings in the new town. Not sure what's going on but it seems like the loot spawn point map might need some adjusting by what other people are reporting as well. -

I've been getting some game crashes. First time this has ever happened. Not sure why but it;s happened at least 4 times while/after loading in. -

^Kind of agree with you there, but i'm more in the middle about it. I think they should make them dull/wear out after longer uses. Like 5-7 and at least make them repairable at some point. -
i agree with the map idea, not a mini map though a find able map of the area. i don't even know where i am or going ever. that will change when using the online map at dayzdb.com and playing enough. You will eventually know where you are and where to go pretty much as soon as you spawn in, believe me. Use landmarks to help you remember.

I believe it's based on the chance/tries and not the actual tree. Basically, moving from tree to tree is pointless. Just keep searching same one to eventually get an apple. Same with berries in a bush and sticks from the forest floor. -

For now, yep. When they replace the stuff with the renderer they will be fixing the lightsource issue. It will also allow them to do a lot more than just that, too. -
That scope with the folding stock replacing the wooden one, which appears to make the gun a shitload more accurate, is probably the most ideal setup I've been seeing so far. Good video!

You have both options now, actually :) The fireplace kit will look like a gray pile of ash on the ground with containers for logs in it. You can also upgrade it to a better fireplace with 8 stones. Haven;t seen that yet but Dean said something about it. You can mine the rocks with a pickaxe. -

So checked it out for an hour or so. Spawned in new city and looted for a bit. didn't get any of the new guns, but I did get an sks with a few rounds. Built a few fires after finding a box of matches and axe and some shirts split into rags. You can literally chop down any tree and get logs. Logs you can split into sticks. Add sticks to rags to make a fireplace kit. Add a log to the fire kit while it's on the ground. Put matches in hand and scroll to ignite. Wind and rain can put matches out so watch it. New flares are pretty cool. Found a fishing lure and the new police jacket. The guys I was running around with (randoms) and I built a bunch of fireplaces all around the central square in front of the clocktower there in the new town and some on top of it. Was pretty fun. Still wanting to see the new AK and Longhorn, but I was happy that I was able to see so much already in just 1 run. Great patch! Can't wait until it hits stable. -

That longhorn is loud as fuck! Love it. I would be scared shitless if I'd heard that thing go off while in a town. -

^It's certainly making me antsy, but i'm patient. The longer it takes, the better things will function and the more things will be added. I'm cool with waiting if that's the case. -
You are fully geared, would you shoot these people?

All this poll tells me is. If you're a sniper, and you're found out, you gonna have a bad time. -
How to set up an autorun key in DayZ
Gekkonidae replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Not sure I understand how an auto-run key would be considered cheating in any way. That doesn't make any sense. If anything, I would consider it a disadvantage to those using it, as it temps users to leave their keyboard while running, making them a running duck, ready to be shot down. -

Gekkonidae replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Yeah thank you! This is very helpful info! Also, to the guy posting about macros.. c'mon man, this is quite far from a macro. This is a single key press configuration. -
They'll come back with more optimizations, i'm sure. Just give it time. They use those to test things when they are up, so i'd imagine they will make performance tweaks and throw them back up again for additional testing. It's a process my friends.
