I hope it doesn't require many attachments at all. Just an AKM alone is pretty beast-mode.

I don't think the topic is moreso about Frankie, but has turned more into a discussion on his playstyle. To me, this has just become another morality thread, with everyone having varied opinions. Nothing new to me.
-
This is even something I can wrap my head around and do practice. If you see a sniper lying there waiting to kill people, you'd be an idiot not to destroy them. If not, become the next victim. Other than that, I pretty much do the same thing. Always be on the alert to dish out some damage, but I always play to avoid having to deal with that stuff. It does make the game really boring and a lot more 1 dimensional than it has the potential to be, in my opinion. My best times in game were had by trading/adventuring with complete strangers, trying to overcome tough odds. Crazy stuff happens.

All i'll say is that I've been doing this "hero shit" long before Frankie did. It really just depends on your approach. Typically, to be nicer, you'll still want to get the drop on someone. Otherwise you're going to be on the defensive, not having the opportunity to verbally disarm the other person, or let them know you don't want their head on a pike. It's not hard to be nice to people and let them know your intent, but it does take some skill to get through it without getting your face blown off. My tips would be: - Always keep a little distance - Have your weapon drawn but not pointed. (Be ready to aim and fire if they do anything rash, but don't act like a hard ass. Remain calm) - State your business: Ask if they need a hand with anything. Ask where they are going and if they wouldn't mind some company. Ask if they are low on anything that you might be able to help with. Say that "if not, no big deal" and wish them luck. - After parting ways keep your head on a swivel and leave in an unpredictable manner so that it's harder for them to track you. I've personally busted a couple of strangers I was nice to trying to track and kill me after I left, wishing them luck. Luck did not end up in their favor. - Toss a couple of lower end items (but useful, obviously) on the ground as an offering to show you aren't wanting to gouge their eyes out and take everything they have. - Most importantly, don't turn your fucking back on them. Even if you are travelling, make sure they are in front of you. As a previous KOSer, taking a different path now, I know all the bullshit tricks to catch an opportunity to kill someone else. Even taking all the precautions, a true killer will find an opportunity. My tips are only to detour someone from doing it, or at least make it harder. Nothing is guarenteed, but these things have personally worked for me. tl;dr - You can be nice to most people with a really positive outcome, but don't be an idiot about it.

I already tried this thread a while back :P It seems currency or a point system is not something people really want to implement. I've personally been trading items based on their rarity. Ammo is also a great trading chip. I usually get requests for rice/beans or ammo. So if you run across this stuff, try to save it. Though, ammo is increasing in type as a lot more guns have been released since alpha first started, so i'd recommend getting an ammo crate. When it comes down to it, people will want to trade for whatever they are lacking, but I've found that ammo and food are always welcome.

Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.42.116002
Gekkonidae replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
They'll get it fixed, i'm sure. I'm glad they've been holding off on releasing to stable. I want them to get things fixed. When this one goes to stable it will also seem like a bigger patch because they have been holding off on it. While they are fixing some of these things, they will likely be adding more stuff in as they do, so i'm cool with that. Get-er-done right! -
So you want something a little faster than jogging?

I think to a degree, with their developmental process, that optimizations to balance things out will come. However, I also think that a majority of "total overhaul style" optimizations will come during Beta. It's just one of those things you have to be patient about. I VERY RARELY say this, and I know we've all heard it a million times, but it is Alpha. -
What civ style weapons would you like to see?

Shit, if you're going that route you may as well toss in an MK 48 Mod 1 into the mix for good measure. -

That is one badass gun. I think you may have inspired me to get one, seriously. I've been contemplating getting an AR for a while and after reading up on it, I think i'm sold. Might have to wait a little while because I don't have 800-1k usd lying around at the moment. How do you like it so far? Anyway, to be on topic I would say a benelli pump shotty and a CZ 550 are good suggestions. I would also like to see a Remington 700 or something similar. Solid hunting rifle with long distance. I like mine anyway :-P You can get something somewhat similar at most sporting goods stores. Maybe not with the parts I have on mine, but it's still a solid weapon on its own. -

I was getting a bit of the same. Especially with items sometimes taking a while to switch from inventory to a container or container to hands, zeds rubber banding and icons taking a while to react on doors. Not sure if it was because of a full server or it needs more optimization. All in all, I do like the new stuff though. Pretty cool additions. -
I don't really think it needs to be fixed. A .22 is a low damage rifle used for hunting smaller prey. I personally like it the way it is. I've been calling it the makarov of rifles. You can get kills with it, but you need to be accurate with your follow up shots. 2 head shots spaced about a second between each other gets you a kill. I don't want every weapon in the game to be an instant kill and like that they put weaker weapons in. Makes you work harder.
-
I vote that we call in: the bear GEWS for ballistics shit.
-
Very nice. I haven't picked one up yet.
-
.22s are kind of weak though. It would take more than 1 shot to kill someone with one, unless you were lucky.
-
report the issues. I already made a bug report on the .22 rifle not getting rid of the empty bullet after shooting. This occurred randomly for me after going through almost a whole box of ammo. Annoying, but they can't fix it unless you report it. From what I saw, no one said shit about it prior to my report.
-
I haven't. I did notice a bug where it will randomly not eject the shell of an already fired bullet. I've reported this. I was lucky to get one and then 2, 50 round boxes of ammo within the first 20 minutes or so of playing. The OP is spot on with their description. Having fired .22s, I think it feels pretty right. I played gallery shooter with zeds. To Gews' point, I certainly did get plenty of headshot practice in. I think it has the potential to be awesome for animal hunting. It's like the makarov of rifles. You can get a human kill with it, but you better be on the ball and quick about your follow-up shots, because you're probably not ganking a bitch with just one of them. 10/10 - would shoot many zeds again.
-
Yep. Stuff like this is nice. That's what I do when the new exp. patches come out. I like to take screen shots and provide the facts. Then, do bug reporting. I might have to follow suit with Grief and start recording videos for everyone :) Good work on the video Grief!

^ Awesome! Thanks. I was wondering what the new pistols sounded like. that 1911 is beast-mode.

I've noticed that zombies are laggy as hell on the latest exp. servers, or is it just me? -

It's a .22 though. those wouldn't typically do a lethal amount of damage to a person unless it were a lucky shot. I'm not saying you cannot kill someone with one, but you'd probably have to take more than 1 shot. -
Yep, and the new hat. I found a different colored peacoat, but didn't pick it up. Yeah, haha he does look pretty slick. Totally random and ended up getting 3 of the new items within 20 minutes of playing experimental, along with 2, 50 rnd. boxes of .22 ammo. Was gallery shooting zeds for fun. The gun isn't super powerful. It takes 2 shots to a zed's head to kill them. But that is to be expected as it's only .22 caliber. It is however, an extremely quiet rifle. I think it will come in handy for silently killing animals for food later, or taking out someone at relatively close/medium range without them even knowing what hit them. That's also a pitchfork on my back. It's about as effective as an axe. worked out nicely and seems to have a little range on it.

Do you taunt people after you've killed them?
Gekkonidae replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Right when getting back up from being unconscious was implemented, I was in Berenzino trying to look for loot at night and some dumb kid kept running after me talking shit, trying to knock me out. Finally I got sick of it and decided to box him. I knocked him out and said "I told you to fuck off." So I run and start looting nearby houses. After about 5 minutes, i'm looting this house in the dark and all of the sudden, the same dude comes busting through the door trying to knock me out screaming "You should have killed me you little bitch!!" It scared the living fuck out of me, because I was quite startled that this guy start screaming AS he starts wailing on me haha! So i start throwing my fists at him telling him to fuck off again. We get outside, both bleeding and I finally land the KO punch and just kept punching him in the face, beating it into a bloody pulp, calling him a "little fuck, this is what you get! This is what you made me do!! Stay down!!" That's pretty much the only time i've ever talked shit to someone, and I think it's because he scared the shit out of me. -
What kind of food recipes do you want in DayZ

Actually, keeping it relatively simply like this is probably a good idea. I like your examples. -
