I like that the Zeds can kick your ass now. Time to team up with people and give a hand every once in a while. First time I jumped on this patch on the exp server, I ran into a town and found a guy fighting off a bunch of them with a machete and had to help him kick their asses, as he was getting pretty overwhelmed. Helped him loot a town and went on our separate ways. Wouldn't kill some of you be nice to other players every once in a while, as the zeds are definitely a threat now :P -
I say Arrows + duct tape + flares would be really nice, once flares make it in. Would be able to shoot them further.

Nice. Have a couple of buddies who are in the oil industry doing the same sort of thing as well. Good money to be made there, but you have to be really dedicated. Their schedules seem quite similar to yours. I personally couldn't do it, but I give you some props for being able to. Anyway, the game seems to be running really nice now. I'm pretty excited to see what they churn out next!!

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

The only thing with this that kind of sucks is that you cannot message anyone in the server. I guess a good practice would be to post your steam name and to contact you if you encounter cheating, and try to record it, if you're a server admin. Even then though, it's a little hard without any sort of log files, but I guess that it's better than no option. -

Same here. I'm in Northern Kentucky, just south of you, and had similar experiences. Very little lag/desync and was able to play on both a us and uk server with no issues. I'm liking how threatening the zeds are. I'd like to see loot respawning though because that is annoying as hell. -

I long for the day when what you say is in the game. I remember back in the day on the mod it would take me an hour to loot a town, making sure I didn't disturb any zeds, or get busted by another player who had a gun. It was intense! I actually LOL'd at the OP's story while sitting at my desk at work. Sounds like a lot of fun, even if you died. Zeds should be a real threat. Maybe they are buggy as hell right now, but they should be able to kick your ass a bit if you're not super careful. I'm sorry you guys got eaten by hungry zombies, but this should happen more in the game rather than being downed by other players 100% of the time.

I'd guess that the sickle and garden hoe will likely be used for growing your own shit at some point, but could be used as weapons as a last resort. I may be wrong, but they seem to be focusing on the hunting/gathering survival aspect of the game right now. I'm not sure what exactly that means, but i'm liking it!

You could put something together, but I wouldn't try to sell it unless you like getting sued. Maybe just make one out of your love for the game and give it out?

Well, the team that will primarily be handling all of this was just put in place like what, a month ago? So i'd advise having a seat and waiting it out. It will happen.

I agree with this. Since this is the first release of this type of system, just give them a couple of patches to tweak it and I think they will be good to go. Couple those tweaks with AI pathing and I think we'll have exactly what we're looking for. All in due time :)

loooooooooooooool. If you've ever played the mod or variations of the mod, you'd be saying "Hell yeah! Let's get it on!" Play faster and smarter, live longer. I think the system is a bit hardcore and a little frayed around the ends, but I think they are onto something good. My advice to anyone complaining: Fucking man up.

I've heard that if you're really malnurished and starving, they can sustain your life. It takes a while though. like 1/10 digs. I would currently pit them as a last resort instead of seeing them as a grocery store. -

They only kill you if you eat the wrong ones. Eat the right berries? Anyway, i'm really pleased with what's coming out. I don't have time to play at the moment due to travelling around for work and whatnot, but I think you guys are doing an excellent job of handling what you need to. The fire circle looks fucking legit. Whoever added the extra mask to give it the "pop" it needs deserves some praise. It does look really badass. I'm hoping there are some proper flames to accommodate that badassery, and seal the deal? Also really excited for the physics/throwing. Aside from the obvious throwing rocks at newspawns, it really does open the game up to so much more potential. Keep 'em coming and keep doing what you do to make the game awesome! -

Exactly this. I haven't personally seen how hacks work on SA, but I imagine it is like the mod. I remember in the mod's early days, I knew a guy (who was eventually rightfully bant hammered) who showed me a few things on how it was done then. Nothing I would ever use or condone, obviously. Cheating is for bitches with no skill or guts. I've seen some coders/scripters on other games in the past, and some of their ideas were freakin genius in getting around detection programs. I've even seen some code that compensates for life-like human error in aiming, making it harder to detect for aimbotting. Genius, sure, but it's a damn shame their efforts were wasted on something so counter-productive to the life of those games. It's hard to respect someone, no matter how genius their coding may be, when they are doing nothing but contributing to the growth of scumbags in any game. So knowing this, I can imagine that some hacks are pretty hard to detect. Cheating is massive bullshit all around, but i'm confident that BE and the team can squash most of these arseholes. Edit: Best thing you can do is turn in any information you have to the team or alert BE to any evidence you have. They'll eventually be caught and dealt with. -

I personally think that mouse accel should be optional, if it isn't. I prefer 1:1 controls. However, if mouse accel was forced, I suppose it would force me to get used to it. I just haven't messed with it for a long time, and I do know it takes a little getting used to. I guess we'll see. I'm a little on the fence about it, but i'm sure it will be fine. Edit: Okay, after reading around it likely will be optional at some point. Fine by me. Maybe i'll prefer it after playing with it for a while. I do know that in FPS years back, once you were good with it, it was far superior than 1:1 for ganking bitches. -

As soon as they can get the bug taken care of is pretty much when they will likely try to push to stable. Right now they are working to squash it and then i'm sure we'll get an update on when they will push it to live environment. Sounds like a nasty, elusive bug. Patience, my friends. -

I hope that if they do add mouse acceleration, it can be turned off. Icky. It takes a while to get used to it, so it's not that attractive to me at all. I haven't used it in many years for any game. I'm fine with 1:1 -
Awesome idea. I really wish they'd put in flares/chemlights for even basic throwing. Would make night play sooo much better. I really hope they are planning to release these soon!

^kind of curious of that myself. I haven't played the mod in about a year, really. I was sucked into playing Origins and other maps around a year ago to even bother with the vanilla. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the vanilla mod at all, but I played the shit out of it for a while and wanted to see what else was out there. -
