are people trying to make the SA to friendly?

I agree with you. Everything you've mentioned, i'd love to see it happen. I think it would add more to the utterly cruel reality that it is at the moment, but hey, it is what it is. I think those are productive counter-measures. I hope they add it all! That isn't today, but I certainly like the idea of it :)

Gotta work that meta bro. They arrive in droves, my friend. Just have strength in numbers, pull up a good position and it's easy as hell. There isn't a patch out dealing with what dean wants to deal with at the moment, so there are tons of people attempting to take advantage of that. Get in on the headshots as they try. Most will log in at the top of the towers thinking it's safe. i literally didn't move my crosshairs for the first 3 victims. Moths<Flame.

I agree with this on the notion that whomever originally stated that this is a giant social clusterfuck, is completely and utterly correct, in my opinion. It's fascinating the way it is, and you should play how you want to play, regardless of its seemingly hardcore nature. I've seen various tactics succeed in DayZ's 'ebb and flow', and it should always be that way. This is what makes the game the way it is: Awesome.

    The KOS conundrum, problem/solution.

There isn't a problem with the game. It's fucking great the way it is. If you have a problem with it, then make different choices. /end thread ?

are people trying to make the SA to friendly?

Okay, look. If some of you want a different playstyle to be popular, then live it. The default is obviously "Kill everything that moves" by most. However, I notice this doesn't exactly make up the majority of some of the thoughts i see in this thread. So, change it. You'll die a lot. I have, since changing my own playstyle. I'll say though, that it's been pretty rewarding, overall. If this were some sort of goddamned rpg, I would probably be considered lawful evil. I spent 1 year in the mod being a bandit to total fucking douchebag proportions, and the other half being the nice guy who'd take a chance. There are benefits to both. Melding the two, in my opinion, is the most rewarding. I don't tear down every person I see, or only just humiliate them, because there's more value there if you work with people sometimes. For example: A couple of hours ago tonight I met a noob. He was pretty carebear, so i set it up (and i'm glad I did, really). I said that if he ended up getting well enough on his way, that was it. He's out and we split ways. He had a plan to run to zelen. I told him i'd see him safely up there. We were in elecktro at the time. We approach the fire station (not the factory one, the other one) to check for gear and hear shots. We laid low for a few and then i told him to climb the ladder to the top to see if he could get himself a gun. Luckily he didn't get blown away, but he found a pistol and made it back down. I had a pistol clip and thought about it a while before giving it to him. Then I had a good idea. It was a gamble. He was a nice enough guy, so i went with it. I told him my idea and he was cool with it. I gave him the clip. We set up to camp server hoppers because they aren't only out of control, but a great source of insta-loot. I told him that if he pulled overwatch for me while I sniped server hoppers (which appeared literally every fucking 30 seconds it seemed like) that I would make sure he would get geared up enough to do some damage. I gave him the clip and he was a good sport about it all. I took up my position with my mosin and LR scope and he had my back. I killed a few people in just a few minutes. Well, then another hopper logged into the same area we were in and I didn't catch it. He caught them training their gun to me and popped them in the head. If it weren't for that guy, it would have been over for me. After that, we ran up, saw another hopper, popped him, got him stocked to the nines (and myself a nice magnum and plenty of food and water) and headed out of the building. As we get out, another guy starts coming up with an m4 and hits him as he tried to take a position behind the officer box or whatever it's called. I take a shot at him to get him off of the other guy and thought i killed him, but apparently didn't. I ducked back in to reload and the other guy finished the job. I ran over and patched him up and we took off to zelen. I had to log, but I hope he did well. This was a total stranger. I don't even know who in the hell the guy was, and i'm sure as fuck I will never meet them again. But thanks random guy! we worked well together and benefited from a situation where, if we weren't working together, shit would have probably went way south for both of us in no time. This is just one story. I have a million in my DayZ career. I'm a bandit, and i'm fine with that. That doesn't mean I won't think twice about killing you before you ever lay eyes on me. However, that doesn't mean that I just go around fucking people up all of the time just because I can. I didn't shoot the guy because he proved he had my back. In most other situations, if there was no one left, he was next. It's automatic. Just because i'm a fuck that likes to troll doesn't mean that I'm a total asshole. Your life in this game is typically fairly short, no matter who you are.Make the most of your situation and have a little faith in other people to do proper bandit business with you. It pays off when you help people sometimes. If you're a bandit, i think that you'll find that using your resources greatly increases your chances for survival at times. Not all the time, but more thank you may think before pulling the trigger.

    Share your story/encounters/gun fights topic?

Interesting. Yesterday or the day before I ran into a guy who starting calling me the same thing. Was just rambling on with a barrage of insults. So I did what I normally do to almost anyone. Played "eye of the tiger" over direct while I chased him down with an axe and chopped him up into bits and pieces. I wonder if it was the same guy. Actually, if you ever hear "eye of the tiger" over direct, you can bet it's me. I'll be on tonight, rising up to the challenge of our rivals.

    Meele system similar to MnB?

Alright, that's it. I'm adding in a few sound clip taunts from chivalry to my quickbar for in-game melee fights. "You smell like a woman!" (yes, sorry for the off-topic)

    A Good Old Fashioned Duel

Awesome idea. I did duel someone once already. My magnum vs their FNX. But I really just yelled "fight me!" while chasing them. They turned around and pulled out their piece, and we started shooting at each other. I do like the idea though. maybe get a random mediator to say "Draw!" and then have at it. An honorable alternative to the "errmagherrd perrrseerrnn!" *pew pew pew* approach.

are people trying to make the SA to friendly?

I don't really think there will ever be a change to affect the way it already is now. The choice is yours on how you want to act in the game. I really don't think they should change anything about it. The game isn't targeted for a carebear audience at all. In the mod, I played as a combat medic and helped as many people as I could. Just because I wanted to be a good guy and help others, didn't mean I got an award or a special privilege or any protection. I was still susceptible to all the things that everyone else was. KoS, backstabbed, etc. I chose to play that way. Some people honored that and didn't backstab me or kill me and actually had my back when things got rough. That's the best you can hope for when choosing that role. However, others will still kill you, steal everything you have, etc. What i'm saying here is: play the way you want to play and don't let the BS bother you. That BS isn't going to go away, but there are good chances that you can improve the situation with the people you play with. It doesn't always work, but if you're patient it will. Last night I, no shit, met up with 8 other random guys and we all went north together. Not a single one of us knew each other, but we all managed to help one another. Well, except for 1 of the guys tried to backstab the only guy with a gun at the time. We all beat him to death for it and gave the original owner his stuff back. People need to get over the fact that they were killed a million times and simply do this: Learn to survive, or continuously end up on the coast. The answers aren't going to be programmed into the game for you. The beauty is making it up as you go, while dealing with the contstant tyranny.

As a bandit (most of the time anyway) it's my own rule that if I have a bunch of guns, I don't go to the coast for a couple of reasons. 1. - You'll likely lose all of your stuff because you WILL slip up, eventually. 2. - You have nothing to gain from newspawns. Literally, nothing. 3. - Let the noobies duke it out amongst themselves without them being completely overpowered and helpless. Be a man and hunt people more on par with the type of gear you have up north. I usually don't KoS on the coast unless they have a gun. I'm personally finding more and more people with melee weapons that will quickly band together and single-out targets shooting guns and bring them down using stealth and numbers. I've both had it happen to me and helped others bring them down. I once was shooting at a guy in a starter town and suddenly had 4 people coming at me from all directions doing whatever they could to kill me. it worked. I've also helped someone being held up with another person and killed both armed people by using stealth and surprising them. it works. The coast isn't really worth it if you want to survive for long while having anything of value on you. My point is, I am starting to see temporary alliances being formed among players, if even only for a couple of minutes to eliminate a larger threat. I've been friendly to a few folks in the game, and they've all said nearly the same thing every time "it's crazy to actually meet a nice player in DayZ". (well I can be nice, but not most of the time lol) So i don't think they are making it friendly, it's just that, in my experience, people are starting to realize that banding together helps you survive longer. I'm alright with that.

New spawn points. good or bad thing?

Precisely. I sometimes run just to explore areas and survive. I've found other people way out in the wilderness too. Rare with the current cap on players, but it can happen! It's also unreal how many towns I come across that are literally stocked to the brim with loot because someone didn't want to run more than 20 minutes and probably ended up wasting their time on empty houses anyway.

Then hit up Solichny and head for Berenzino to get geared, then over to NE Airfield or hit up the Rify wrecked ship (it has military loot as well). I personally happen to like this area a lot more than most of the western areas.

    Identifying other players

I like the idea of adding identifying friends with items, but I'd say try to keep them dual purpose. Spray paint or a bag color or something like that is cool. You have to be careful there though because you can easily ruin the hardcore nature of the game that must be protected. Floating nametags or really even showing a name at all without killing someone should never even grace this game in any fashion in my opinion. It would just take away too much.

    Meele system similar to MnB?

I would be happy with even just taking away the fact that you slow down when using 'Q' and 'E' while in melee mode so that you could dodge blows while moving about. I've tried this to some success, but because you slow down when using them in this mode, it makes Q and E for dodging somewhat useless. Would add a little more skill to the mix, granted the hit box moved with it. I don't think that would be immensely hard to code at all.

    Meele system similar to MnB?

Not sure how hard that would be to code, but a couple of minor perks to the melee system would be really cool. A charging attack of some sort that does more damage (broader swing). Or, as I think you're mentioning, adding a little bit of the drag mechanic, using your mouse (body momentum) to swing at a wider range. While i've become pretty familiar with melee weapons as they are (I have 26 confirmed melee kills so far), I think it would only add to the skill of using them.

I do, actually. I use a hoxton mask and have Jason sound effects I play through my mic while hiding out of sight. I've had plenty of fully geared people run like hell because of that. It's pretty hilarious to witness. Right as I go to strike I also play the sound clip from "Psycho" (the violin sound effect when he's stabbing people) just for added suspense. :)

Just killed one last night who was messing with a noob just to command them and get their rocks off. they had them on the ground telling them to drop everything. the guy had his back turned to me and the noob saw me and kept talking to him to keep him distracted while i ran up and axed him in the back of the head. I let the noob have all the gear just to be nice.

Even i'm not that low. I wait outside of spawn towns and mess with people, but I rarely ever bring guns into the mix. They're fresh spawns. They don't have anything on them and aren't worth hunting down. even as a bandit, I have some compassion for freshies. At least let them get outside of town. Lately I've just been hanging around Kamyshovo, fist fighting people while playing "eye of the tiger", or in elecktro with an axe doing the same thing. I've been camping bigger towns for people with guns only using an axe. I'm amazed at how easy it is to take down fully geared people with an axe. Last week I went 3v1 while getting the drop on 3 fully geared guys and killed them all. It's all about the stealth and quickness. Guns suck up close. Sure, I troll. But i'm not dick enough to sit at the spawn points mowing people down. I wouldn't expect to see that everywhere to be honest. There are bigger fish to fry elsewhere.
