The first kill I got was the first night of alpha. I can't remember what weapon it was. I know it was fists, axe or a shovel. Anyway, a guy said he just spawned in and it was his first time playing. I didn't say a word and just beat the piss out of him. Welcome to DayZ! -
Where to organize city-wide firefights?

a 7v7 or smaller would be alright in Polana I would think. One team start NE and the other SW. It's relatively small, but the buildings are tightly placed, giving areas to hide in. Not to mention it's not a very highly visited town. Doesn't have a whole lot. -
Go for red lumber jack shirt, red bandana, those tall black boots and no pants and get a shotgun after the patch. You could be a trailer park bandit. :D

How do you protect yourself against betrayal?

The easiest way to avoid betrayal is obviously: Say hello in a cheery voice right before you shoot them in the face. However, if you're looking for signs: hesitation, jumpy movement, players trying to get behind you while talking. Anything that would make it obvious they're going to gun for you as soon as they can are bad. Ultimately though, I think it's very hard to tell when someone is bullshitting you. Some people (myself included) are very convincing when it comes to saying they are friendly and will stand by you. Many times you can end up dead. I usually only kill someone in the scenario where i would want to team up with them if I think they are going to inevitably do the same thing to me, at some point. Some people are easier to read than others. -

Pubs also spawn them. the buildings with a bar and an upstairs with 3 exits. Actually, Pubs and markets are just good buildings to check for most odds and ends in the mod. -
Not a bad idea. I think of origins in a way, but using pre-existing buildings. Pretty cool.

My thoughts on the points in this post: - I like 3rd person. They won't take it out because it's well liked. Don't like it? Play on the optional 1PP servers and stfu. It's the same sort of preference you will get with private hives coming up. - I love and accept KoS gameplay. I realize it can be miles more intense with 1PP, but I don't give a fuck. I'll use the same 3rdPP advantage as the next guy. - I realize 3rd person makes potential KoS occurrences happen more often, but again, I don't care because I like 3rdPP, and the choice is up to the individual.

I always play Eye of the Tiger in every fist fight I am ever in. So if you've been in or witnessed a fist fight while that is playing, i'm likely one of the contenders. -

^That would be pretty amazing for a sort of end-game crafting. I like a lot of the ideas that Origins has and some they haven't implemented yet. Like the crafting abilities and whatnot. Some really cool base ideas there. -

You did see that the entire Arma2 series, including the DayZ mod is in a humble bundle right now, right? You can pay up to 6 bucks to have the first part unlocked, without operation arrowhead and dayz. So, you'll need to spend anything more than that get what you need to play the mod. A little over 6 bucks for the mod is not a bad price at all. Hell, I would recommend buying it for a lot of you new SA players. Play the Arma 2 games, fire the weapons in there, play with buddies and practice tactics and get used to the engine to have a better feel for when you come back to SA. :)

I'll give the guy some beans on account of him having the idea, though I would guess you're right in terms of the server still having to hold the information. I wonder if going this route would be a nice shortcut for them in any sense down the road though. I dunno.

It depends on the mood. Last night I stalked 2 guys for about 5 miles down country roads completely unseen. Arrived in a small town and decided to play psychotic axe murderer as soon as one of them came out of the house. I freaked him out so bad he couldn't even talk straight to tell his buddy I was chopping him up. "Oh my god! This! It's here! Over there! It's on me.. I can't.. here! This guy! Help!" looooooool To be fair, they both had axes, I just got the jump on them with my ninja sneaks. Usually if they are completely unarmed, act nice with no ill intent, I typically just leave them alone or give them a tip if I saw something of use anywhere nearby. If they act weird or jumpy or don;t communicate in the mic properly, well I put those dogs to sleep. I generally come in peace unless I really need something from you. I'm a respectable bandit, I would like to think anyway,
