Best way to approach it brother.

I don't think that good samaritans would kill someone for their gear to survive longer. Sorry, but that's not usually how that works. A good samaritan would give the shirt off of their back if someone needed it and would look for alternative ways to gear up, like actually hunting for it themselves, or be rewarded for helping others. If you know 'good samaritans' that do this, they aren't good at all. They are people who choose to temporarily be a KoS or more of a bandit by killing someone else, stealing their shit and then try to assume the good guy role. I'm failing to understand how that is good at all.

What can we look forward to in the next few patches ?
Gekkonidae replied to Jono67's topic in General Discussion
I can live with fortifications/barricades. Even just a few pieces of wood and plywood strewn among some trees, a box of some sort to stash some stuff and the ability to make a campfire and have some friends enjoy our shitty little structure to call a temporary home would be fine with me. Cook up some beans. Tell a few stories. Minus the ability to build stuff like that, these were really good times in the mod for me and can really kind of bring people together that you would never otherwise hang with. Not even that though. Just the ability to do this for myself would be awesome. -

If some basic base building, and hell, even some sort of open storage that were totally open and could be raided would be implemented, I would probably get fired from my job for spending too much time playing. (kidding, but just to show the temptation a bit here) It would give more people reason to team up and protect supplies, or find safer areas to hide their shit if running solo. I don't personally think they will add that until loot respawning is available, but i'm personally banking on these to be implemented. It's more or less why i've recently taken a break from playing -
How many Women play this game and what do you think about it?
Gekkonidae replied to PsyStormZ's topic in General Discussion
I've seen 2 girls in the game so far. The first one I straight up brutally axe murdered because her friends tried to kill me. The second one was alone. I tried to give her some gear that I didn't need. She explained that she was new. Well. 2 other turds came up out of nowhere and tried to take the gear I was laying down for her. She did grab some of it. I started shooting them. Killed one and the guys buddy and and the girl both took off pretty fast lol. I won't treat a girl differently just because she's a girl. On the second occurrence I was trying to offload some extra crap. I usually carry extras of some essentials if anyone would happen to need them. They are good bargaining tokens and will let people know you want to team up, if even for a little while. Regardless, if you're going to act like a dick, i'm still going to end you. :D I'm sure plenty of girls play, but for reasons already stated, they are probably wise to at least keep their identity somewhat concealed. We had a girl in our clan back in the mod. She was actually a pretty damn good sniper and was pretty fun to hang out with. Just one of the guys in my opinion. She didnt like when dudes would act all weird. -
Deans wants to bring Base Building Mechanics from Dead Linger - video
Gekkonidae replied to TEST_SUBJECT_83's topic in General Discussion
I'd personally like a mix of both. I'd like to see existing structures fortified, along with some basic building out in the woods. I'd kill to build a little shack area with some tents out in the middle of nowhere with my mates. Even if it were something simple and unlocked to stash gear and sit around the campfire with buddies. -
Is Sniper too powerfull ? how did the mod handle this?
Gekkonidae replied to Foolz's topic in New Player Discussion
If there were animations to show what that thing would actually do, there would be nothing left to loot... -

^i would definitely agree with the 'sky towers' shit. I think a lot of building should be a two person job. Hell, building a house in origins pretty much took a vehicle of some sort to get your materials, or at least a fair bit of team effort.... or forever on foot to get all the materials. Though, they should make it even harder and more group oriented. I like your ideas. -

Yeah man the AS50 was fucking ridiculous. it made you look like you were carrying a fucking laser cannon or something on your back. I remember taking down a couple of choppers over cherno with one, and laughed maniacally as they exploded all over the city..... Ahhh, the good 'ol days. That barrett was mean too. -

I think that if/when they add structure building, some sort of storage and clans/groups start to gang up, you will have more players doing this and playing with that mentality. It would be more valuable to see what you saw through your scope, say a group of people at their little hideout, then go back and get friends or have them meet up with you and then ambush, than to risk it all by trying to take them all down alone right then. -
This is why I think it should be 45 seconds of sitting instead of 30, to compensate for long range attackers doing the same bullshit: combat logging. I do snipe, but I bet I could log out from an attacker that was a few hundred meters away before they even got to me.

Really surprised no one mentioned Dayz Origins in the whole building thing. I thought they had some pretty cool ideas. Though, I do like Epoch's building a little better in some ways. I do like Origins in that you can snap in fencing and building to a degree. Maybe not so much snapping, but you get a little green hologram of where it will go if you click "build". Red if it will not fit there. No one else sees this except for the client building the object. Definitely helped with building reinforced fencing and all that so I didn't have to keep taking shit apart to place it again. It's obvious that building like this could be implemented into the current engine. It will likely take a while though. Would be cool to at least see just basic fence building introduced within a couple of months though, so at least we'd know this was going to happen. -
I can see a gang of people dressed like this (or replace the jackets with flanel shirts) holding someone up saying in their best southern drawl "We don't take kahndly ta strangers 'round heer!"

Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.34.115106

Awwee hell yeahhh!!! -
I do understand what you're saying here. Hopefully they can do something for that circumstance. However, in the mean time, stick to the 'ol: 'find a safe place to log out' rule. I always log off outside of towns and in the forest or bushes so i don't have to deal with any crap when logging in or out, period.

The Map is smaller when compared to Day Z Mod's Chernarus

If the sprint speed is faster, i'm alright with that at the moment. We don't have vehicles. -

Lee enfield ( do you want to see it in game?)
Gekkonidae replied to Sweendawg's topic in General Discussion
I agree with Weedmasta on this one. The Mosin seems close enough to the Lee. I'm not saying I don't like those weapons. I'd love to see the winchester make it in, but I do like the new ideas coming out. They seem to serve somewhat similar purposes to the mod weapons. -
I would be jealous that the bambi had that many zed followers and immediately attract them all, running the largest train through elecktro/berenzino for fun, and then take them all to Rify take make it a zombie-filled 'ghost ship'.

Nice to see you getting some deserved recognition, Gews. :)

30 seconds is a joke, make it 5 MINUTES!
Gekkonidae replied to atmaca (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I agree with this. 45 seconds seems pretty solid in my opinion. IT's not quite a long minute, but more than 30 seconds to possibly get those little shits that try to combat log on snipers. -
I've personally changed my playstyle a lot in the recent game. I find myself attempting to be more of the 'hero' more than the bandit for one reason- over-saturation of fucking bandits. And they aren't even classy most of the time. Just scared pricks out of the gate. I'll continue to play this way for a couple of reasons. It's way more challenging, and the benefit is clearly strength in numbers, from my own experiences. Many others die to that. If you have a brother on the field that is willing to go as far as you to protect some shit, the opposition's chances for survival are greatly diminished, especially if you know how to move and don't fuck around. The problem is, there really isn't a problem. It's alpha, and people get bored after milling through all the content. I think there should be some incentive to helping each other out, but it shouldn't impact the same reason it's advantageous to seek and destroy someone else. I'm not really sure what the answer is, but most of the proposed solutions i've heard from the community just don't cut it in my opinion. Too restrictive. They throw the game into imbalance. It's a great game, and i'm really interested to see how things play out over time.
