Oh look. A post about "hackers"! I've not seen dozens of these today already.

Whiners and CoD Kiddies and carebares! Oh my! Hordes of zombies are hard to kill? It's as if we're in a zombie apocalypse! Seriously, if the army couldn't handle them, how can one prick with scavenged gear hold out? This isn't Left 4 Dead! Learn how to sneak dammit!

Was casing out a town when the grass in front of me flattened and I see a prone guy facing away from me with an AK. I give him a chance. "DON'T MOVE!" I tell him over VOIP... He moved.

What makes my piss boil is how idiots confuse hackers with cheating script kiddies. DayZ itself is a hack of ARMA II. The definition of a "hack" is getting something to do what it wasn't designed to do, and a zombie survival game on a military sim is defiantly that. That makes Rocket a "hacker." The confusion comes when you need to hack a system (make it do something it 's not meant to) to crack it. Most of the cheats on DayZ are not hackers or crackers. They are fucking script kiddies. Skiddies are usally angsty teenage wankers who download something off a website with no clue how it works just to annoy strangers because the little tard wasn't brest fed or something. Stop giving them more credit then they are due (ie: none).

As a lover of stealth games (Thief 2 ftw) I've had no problem slipping into DayZ. The whole "don't get shot" thing boils down to "see them but don't let them see you." Keep to cover. Stay in the trees and long grass. Keep your head down. Shoot zeds only when you have to. Keep to high ground. Case the joint before heading in. Have a goal, get in and get out asap.

Don't be in such a rush to get good gear. Like now I have all the stuff I need to hunt for and cook meat, carry water and patch myself up. I can stay in the woods for weeks and never go near a settlement ever again. Before I was forced into town due to hunger or thirst, now I can care-bare it up like a champ. I only raid when I want to because I have no reason to stick my neck out. Therefore hunting for rare stuff is my only real goal this life. Once I got it? Snipe people like a jerk until I die I guess.

I would class the Lee Enfield as a poor man's sniper rifle and use it us such. Even without a scope you can pull off some accurate long range shots. You don't shoot sniper rifles at close range and you shouldn't be using this in built up areas ether. So in other words, shoot it INTO town, but not IN town.

I can shoot you in the face and take all your stuff. Deal?

Crash sites spawn at "random" places on the map (usually in open fields) and can have the best items in the game. The chopper itself is a right off tho so don't try to fix it. There's only one working chopper per server. The Lee Enfield is very accurate. Even without the scope you can pick people off at 300m and there's plenty of ammo for it laying about. However, there is a VERY good reason why it's called "The Dinner Bell."

Most of these "hackers" are not hackers. They are script kiddies. Skiddies have no skill or imagination and just take out their teenage angst on strangers in a sad attempt to feel empowered before they get their head flushed down the toilet again at school tomorrow. They have no idea what they are actually doing and therefore can do little more then "uhhhuhuhhhuh! THUNDERDOME!" Real hackers who know what they are doing usually have the imagination to do something funny.

Last night I was rocking around some farmland, outside in some field when the client crashed hard. I had to reset the computer because the mouse pointer disappeared. First time I've seen ARMA crash like that. Anyway, I log back on and... I'm in a barn's hay loft with an inventory full of firewood. W... T... F... Not only was I now in a barn, I was upstairs with my arms full of wood! If it wasn't so funny I would have been pissed to lose two AK clips and food. I've no idea what happened when my game crashed, and I don't think I want to. Can you do better?

I'm guessing they will point the DNS from dayzmod.com and dayzgame.com to the same forum.

Fixed that for you. Anyway I've had no problems so far playing on European servers. Less teenage American pricks I guess.

Stary Sobor easily. The few times I've not been shot at while I was there, I had my nipples chewed off by zombies. Whole lot of neat stuff in that town, but lots of rape and spiders too.

Most likely not. One it's not very nice, and two it's a waste of ammo. If the player isn't armed he's not going to have anything good on him so why attract attention to yourself for a bandage and some pain killers?

Also: If you're panting hard, your aim will be all over the place. If you're not aiming by right clicking and shooting from the hip you won't hit anything. Hold your breath and zoom in by holding the right mouse button AFTER clicking it to go into aim mode. Crouching makes your aim better, going prone more so. Going prone makes you very hard to hit and see, but of course, hard to move or see though the grass. YOU ARE NOT PLAYING CoD! THERE IS NO HIT-SCAN IN THIS GAME! Bullets have velocity and drop off. The longer the range, the higher you have to aim unless the gun has zeroing (pages up and down) and the rounds do less damage.

I lost sympathy for the OP at "airfield" and "midday." IMO you should only hit the NWAF at night. The zombies are almost completely blinded and players have a much harder time spotting you by moonlight. They don't need thermal or cheats to kill you. Teams of snipers with spotters can easily locate and kill anything that moves.

Cherno is a newbie monkey house. Those with end-game gear avoid it as apart from the hospitals, there's nothing they really want from there they can't find inland. This means that most people in Cherno have no or poor weaponry and for the most part, leave you alone. They can't fight you or don't want to risk it. ​Stary Sobor or the NW Airfield on the other hand... heheh... That's where all the rough kids hang out. Chances are, you'll never see who killed you if you get caught in the open around there.
