Is kicking players instantly from servers allowed?
InflatedLyric replied to duulis's topic in Server Advertisement
From personal experience, you should be able to connect to the servers that give you the connection failed or confirmation of changes "restart" DayZ creates some phantom problem with the computers internet access. Once you can get a website to load, you should be able to connect to a server. It is strange, but it happens everytime I open DayZ or dc from a server and try to reconnect (at restarts). Not everyone has the problem, but from what you suggested you may also have the problem. I do not know of any solution, but it usually fixes in 5-10 minutes on its' own, network diagnostic reports that it cannot find anything wrong, but for all intents and purposes my connection to the internet is blocked. For all those naysayers that do not have the problem, you are fortunate. Half the time after a restart, the server hoppers have cleaned out before I can even reconnect. -
My Cognitive Psychology professor suggested something very similar. I would paraphrase him as saying "abnormal brain functionality". Thanks for noticing though. It makes me feel special when people see it.

Never saw that one. However, +1 for you and me amirite!?

I tried painkillers. I was able to find and take 3 doses, this was to no avail. Even a few hours later, despite being healthy the entire time, I was still moaning. I eventually took a bullet to the head and stopped moaning, so a bullet to the head should work too.

Explanation Of How Characters Work Across The Shards
InflatedLyric replied to crimsonbzd's topic in New Player Discussion
I just got my regular char on two hardcore servers. My hardcore character was killed yesterday, so it should be a new spawn. -
Certain Hardcore Servers Loading My Regular Character?
InflatedLyric replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
This just happened to me twice. I was hoping to play Hardcore, because I just died yesterday and I was looking forward to starting over. My regular char is super greedy and loaded to the teeth, carries an M4 in his hands Mosin on his back, and a magnum and fnx45 in his pack. I do not want to kill my regular character off just yet, but I also do not really feel like being bored trying to find more attachments and ammo for a gun that I will rarely use. I was hoping for answers, but from the looks of it no one else knows either. I would play the guy on Hardcore and probably get him killed, if I knew that would not mess him up on Regular servers too. -
Is The Ship Still A Glitchy Death Trap?
InflatedLyric replied to G-lens's topic in New Player Discussion
Oddly enough, I was just there for my very first time today. I only made it around the southern half of the ship, at least most of it, before I was murdered. -
Two worst things about alpha Dayz at the MOMENT
InflatedLyric replied to blueleader's topic in General Discussion
I am having trouble connecting to a server at all the last two days. This resulted in a char reset and I still only got to play for an hour after that, since it took so long to finally connect. I would gladly let my char be reset every hour if I could actually test the game when I have time to do so. -
To the ones saying guns and ammo are impossible to find.
InflatedLyric replied to rydekk's topic in General Discussion
People are just KoS PvP in the cities with what can be scavenged or pried from dead hands. Approx. 5 people and they are all looting every place they can run to. :D -
Losing your player kill virginity.
InflatedLyric replied to senorrambo's topic in General Discussion
This is my first and only. I do not go around looking to kill people and I am not good enough to flip the script on those that would wish me harm. I have been armed with an fnx45 and watched people walk past me oblivious to my presence. I stalked one guy following him upstairs walking past the room he went in, looted the other room and walked back out while he still stood over some loot, I closed the door as I left, he had his back turned I had a full mag in the gun, but I thought he was too much of a newb to kill since he was in a yellow raincoat and looting with his back to the open door. Then 10 mins later, I am trying to toggle walk off. Some how it got stuck on. I like to hold shift to sneak. I saw him running at me, I was still looking around as I struggled to not be stuck sneaking. I was not holding the pistol as I did not want to appear hostile, I was actually hoping for some interaction, I was just too afraid to trust anyone. He must have managed a headshot with his axe, because I dropped immediately that pistol was all I really had, I got lucky despite having recently spawned. I think I was wearing a hoodie and starting jeans. So I certainly understand the KoS mentality, even apparent newbs can get lucky when they have the upper hand (my first kill also serves as proof of that). -
I had a char reset recently. I could not connect to any server I tried, any attempt was met with an immediate "confirmation of changes" restart message. I tried restarting the game. When I finally got onto a server it just told me it could not load the char and to disconnect (paraphrasing). So I knew, the old char was history at this point. Not feeling like starting over, I decided not to log back in for a few hours. It was as anticipated a fresh spawn and because of the patch not the default char I was expecting. Disconnected and tried to do a little research. Eventually, resetting my default; I played that char out. I was very careless, likely because I really did not want to be alive on that char (plus it was night and I was just like this is BS)! Someone apparently saw me and chased me into the fire station at elektro. I had a pipe, but they had an axe. I raised my weapon as soon as I heard them threatening to kill me over direct chat. They killed me pretty quick, I do not think I got a hit in. I was evading, but they were able to hit me when it seemed like I was out of range. Kind of made me sad. I was hoping to climb on a building and get shot or fall off the ladder. Instead I got bested by an axe!

Just Found 'Pipsi' and Sprite (plus other new items/thoughts on patch)
InflatedLyric replied to zifadel's topic in General Discussion
how long does it take to vomit -
I spray painted the mosin, it never ended up on the ground, but it did take a long time to change from the one I had to the new painted model. First time I sprayed it, I did not think it actually worked. Maybe if you spray it in your hands it falls to the ground? I rarely even have it equipped, so I doubt I did when I painted it.

post-patch: I noticed the sheds that used to have moto helmets, have all been empty. However, barns now have loot in them. I cannot remember finding anything in cars either, but I may have run across an item or two that I am not recalling at this very moment. I trusted what everyone else said and did not even go to the tents last night. Hangars had some items in them, but the Airfield had been cleaned out before I got there. All spawns are down. Now I would say if someone has been there before, you are not going to find much of anything useful, outside of clothing if you still need basic upgrades. I feel like I actually found more varied ammo though. Of course it helps that I held onto the shotgun shells. I am still looking for a magnum or fnx45, but plenty of ammo for either even a speed loader for magnum, I only have a mosin (found in a car from pre-patch) painted black and green.

zombie behaviour questions from a new player
InflatedLyric replied to helixA2's topic in New Player Discussion
I concur, infected behavior can be very erratic. Sometimes seeing through walls or entire buildings. Also as stated aggroing from nearly a kilometer away. I have turned a corner and been about 5m away, without an axe, and manage to walk backwards a safe distance and never get aggro. I have also tried sneaking up on some with an axe and they aggro before I get within melee range. I have also gotten aggro from a balcony of an apartment on the very top floor even though the infected was not even looking at me and I previously had to walk down the very same side of the building that I was aggroed from. I have also had aggro from about 100m while crawling with a broken leg. It all leads me to question if there is more than one AI behavior model at play; overall it seems very bug though. As far as question 7) goes, I have not noticed anyone saying painkillers. That is what I thought was the solution to groans of pain. Of course I never have it when I need it and if I find it, I never needed it. (If I get too bored, probably because I have almost everything, I tend to roam hotspots hoping for interactions only to get KoS by some guy that thinks I am a boss because I can go up North and find loot). -
Is this how it is for new players? Or is it just me?
InflatedLyric replied to killa_justin's topic in New Player Discussion
I have not gotten to play since the newest patch, about to jump in today. However, I know there was alot of clamor before the patch about very little loot. I always found that loot on the coast has been gone through so many times that there really might be nothing left, but rarely ever do I run across a town inland that does not have something in it. Even if it has been touched, the person that was there before cannot get everything that is of value to a new spawn. It only got better the further inland I travelled. Know or learn where you can find water pumps or even drink from ponds and you can make it a long way without a bite to eat. It may not be comfortable knowing you need something to eat, but it can be done. Everyone dies alot more when they first start, I ran away from the spawn point as a first time spawn (other players) and then I still had trouble with the infected so I died several times. I have since got the hang of dealing with them (and controlling my survivor); I have only died once to the infected in the last month and that had more to do with me falling off a ladder and getting a broken leg. I killed two with a broken leg, but it is more difficult to do without getting hit. The third one knocked me unconcious in one hit. Game start over! -
I was logged in, but I am running out of time for today. It reminds me of all the pay-per-month games I used to play that had monthly maintenance for small patches. Always seemed to happen on the one day you have the whole day free. I just got my PC fixed last night, today was my first chance to play in a week.

Putting ruined items on the floor...
InflatedLyric replied to Banana_Duck's topic in General Discussion
I have lost items in the woods (mostly on sloped hills), never reappeared. I make it a rule not to set anything down in a house unless I can live without it. Sounds like he was swapping out a backpack. I always put my absolutely must keep items in first and then pick up the new pack quickly, double click the stuff that got left in the old backpack. If server restarts or the pack disappears, I will get by without the items I lost. I also like to drop something that I won't mind losing just to check to see if it might be safe. -
Saw a crazy spawn point for the mosin, not sure if anyone else has seen it or knows how to get to it safely. At the northern train station on top of the second small building the mosin spawns (furthest from the station). There is a treehouse style ladder on the building right beside it and I did climb up there. The only way I could see to get from one roof to the other was jump. The first roof has a red guard rail around it. I think the jump could be made, but I doubt it could be used from the second building back again. It looked to me like you would have to fall off the roof, probably breaking a leg. I was carrying an M4 and fairly kitted out, except no morphine (so I passed). I am actually surprised the mosin can spawn in all these places. I have seen it in the school several times, an industrial building, a car, and the train station. Despite being the first to all these buildings many times before, it has just never popped up these places for me. (No I did not read every reply, so if when I post this someone already said it, I apologize, *embarrased*)

My computer is down right now, but last week I had two lives that spanned many days at about 6 hours of playtime a day. I would loot every building in NWAF and then go to other military locations at some point, then the server respawns and you can return to NWAF. Log for the day and do it again the next day. I have found 400-500 rounds in one trip at NWAF, hitting every building. A 300 round box holds up to 600 rounds of 5.56. Point being it is not surprising that anyone could get a lot of ammo. If one were to server hop, they could accomplish what I did over days in a few hours. One life I had about 700 rounds of only 5.56. The other, I had over 1000 5.56, a few stacks of 7.62, and one stack of .45 acp and an extra mag. I will keep stanag mags at first, but eventually you only hang onto coupled mags.

Just opened a can of bean soup w/knife in RL
InflatedLyric replied to Wiggin Miller's topic in General Discussion
What does the percent really even mean? Is it based on volume of the can or the amount of food originally in the can? Either way, can you ever really consume 100% and still be realistic! By volume, how often do you actually open a can and have 100%? Like never. Likewise, one can never really empty a can 100%, not without actually eating the can. Even if one were to lick the can, eww, there will still be residue left behind. This kind of complaint always gives me a chuckle. The entire system is unrealistic. It is designed to overcome shortcomings in the virtual world, but still hopefully mimic reality. How do you know that can, as pictured, of bean soup is 100% in the game, you assume it is. However, do you ever see the spill in game? So because you don't see the actual spill in game when you use a knife and you opened that can with a knife and are suggesting no spillage was made, then they must be equal. Therefore since the system of percent exists only in game, you must use that in game percent to derive the percent of quantity in reality. You sir cannot have my beans, that can is not 100%. -
Story was good, only English professors ask that it be perfect.

I had to check it out. I usually play when 10-15 people are on and I run inland find a small town for food and that will get me to NWAF. Then I spend 8 hours gearing up and looking for every possible upgrade. Never having any player interaction, until I am so tired of creeping around that I just start running. Running until I can run across someone else's screen and then get shot at. This validates my existence, I am not invisible! Unfortunately, this also inevitably gets me killed without any actual interaction. My thought was, I would hang out on the coast never really gearing up by my 8 hour standards, but just see what player interactions I can have. Elektro just happened because of my spawn point and I knew people would be there. The snipers on the hill set the tone, I had quickly found some decent loot in the fire station; however as I climbed too high in the tower, I started taking fire. In a panic, I tried to crouch and take cover, but was forsaken by my knees. As my chest and cheek met the floor simultaneously, I felt a four letter expletive slip past my lips, but that is were it disappeared. My heart pounding and thoughts racing, I prepared for the end; but as I watched and heard the bullets hit all around me, something comforting came over me: they have no shot on me, a bullet cracks against the bottom of the window. I contort my body and move toward the stairs and I watch a shot land on the stairs a few feet below me. As if this shot signaled the start to a race, I spring to my feet and sprint down the stairs and out the back door. The building provides a brief bit of cover and I feel grateful to be up on my feet running even if this person, at my back, that doesn't even know me would wish me dead. As round after round finds nothing but dirt, I find myself tickled and contemplate how long I could keep this up, do they have the ammo to keep wanting me dead? I decide it best not to tempt fate and simply continue to run further into Elektro. The gun fire gradually fading. I am finding some good stuff in the city, but there is still a ringing in my ear and it constantly tells me that I should flank the sniper. My inexperience tells me that I will only die, but try as I might I could not convince myself the right thing to do was run away and live another day. For never having flanked anyone, much less never being on this hill in Elektro, I think I did a really impressive job of coming up on his six. I dropped my food and purple pack, it would make me harder to detect and I would not be delivering him food. I creep closer until I can start to see down the hill. I can tell from the lack of a view over Elektro, he has to be further down. I see an obstacle now, I was not expecting. An infected guarding his six? I think to myself, how can that even be fair play? Then simultaneously as it occurs to me I should have brought more than a pistol and I wonder if I can just sneak around, the infected turns his head, let's out a shrill cry, and starts coming right at me. My plan is broken without an alternate. I decide to run in circles and frantically look for the sniper. Realizing even then it was a bad plan, but it was the best one I had on such short notice. Before long, I heard the familiar sound of his weapon discharging and the crack it made as it hit the dirt surrounding me. We all know how this ends, I know you were hoping for more, but I cannot be your hero. As it turns out I am not bulletproof.

To be continued...
