The "out of bounds" coordinates are what all Bliss Private Server hives utilize as out-of-bounds coords. I haven't customized them personally, they're just what comes with Bliss servers in the vehicle script. If they really did nuke your tent that was within the bounds of the map, I'll reimburse your stuff. PM me what you had it in and I'll check the database backups to verify and see about getting whatever was lost back to you. -

Just got the setup email overnight. Doing some prep work now (downloading ARMA2 and friends) and then when I get home from work I'll do the actual setup. If there are no surprises, it'll be up tonight. I was actually going to scold you about this earlier ;P You had placed your tent out in debug plains/outside the main map. I run a script that deletes any tents/vehicles parked or placed outside the map. If your X or Y grid coord is less than '000', then you're out of bounds and the tent/vehicle will be destroyed within the next few restarts at best if not sooner. EDIT: Actually in your case you set it up just a hair too far EAST. If your west/east grid ref is > 147 (yours was 147.05) then it's considered out of bounds as well. I'm honestly not 100% sure what causes that and if I can do anything about it (since I can't edit the binarized models that control whether stuff leaks or not). I'm also not sure if people just aren't realizing that the heli isn't fully repaired yet, since the "all green" indicators mean pretty much nothing to a helicopter. They only show a very very small fraction of what can be fixed. I've yet to run into a Huey I can't fix/stop leaks, and the MH6J I ran into in this situation I'm pretty sure wasn't following the UH-1H spawn logic in the Bliss Private Server (the base I used for my mod) spawn script and was spawning with car parts claimed as broken instead of heli parts, but that's been fixed as far as I am aware. All I can say is that neither Huey that's up right now is fully repaired. Huey #1: Completely destroyed engine, electronics, main rotor, tail rotor Huey #2: Completely destroyed electronics, very minor (wouldn't affect leaks) motor, glass, and tail rotor damage So, neither Huey should be holding onto fuel right now since neither is fully repaired. I'll probably add in a feature soon to the action menu to "Investigate Vehicle" that tells you what's broken since the indicators you see as a pilot in a heli show only a fraction of what can be repaired/broken. -

Yeah, you'll definitely never run into that here, Ianik. Myself and the squad I hang with when I get time to play get reamed from time to time and lose everything/vehicles/etc. It's what happens in the game. It's the admins that do what you thought I did that anger me and is the reason I do choose to not release my server code to the public. I know a significant populous of the server admin community would do exactly what you thought I did. I totally understand why you jumped to that conclusion and don't blame you. They treat the server as their own private playground because "I'm paying money! REAL MONEY! Don't you understand!?". It really bothers me that the DayZ admin community is like that and it's why I'm ensuring I'm the only one to run servers hosting the mod. If it gets popular enough I'll have to find some trustworthy admins, but for now I can control them myself. You can be assured that you will never be retaliated against on any of my servers in any fashion that you or any other player wouldn't be capable of doing the same. Not sure why. the server JUST restarted 32 minutes ago and therefore should have lightning quick login times. As you say, lots of people are playing right now. PM me the character names and I'll check the logs to see if it's some sort of issue with your mod files/etc. -

The only person with the power to kick is me, and I have never kicked anyone from the game even stemming back from my public US-2519 until now. I especially make it a policy to never kick in this mod because it can very well cause a combat log. I wasn't playing at the time, therefore you can be assured you weren't kicked by an admin. I am guessing you were one of the following people: If you have poor connectivity to the server for an extended period of time, your client may fail to submit proper signature checks. These checks are done to stop people from deleting their tree/rock/bush models and being able to kill on what's otherwise a smooth terrain for them. This happens to our squad mate "Nofo" constantly because of his poor connectivity. If you were kicked by an admin, it would tell you so and a reason would be listed. Just a "you were kicked" is indicative of a failed signature check. I wish I could change this for the better, but it's a necessary evil that this is enforced to make sure people can't shoot at you through rocks/trees and kill you. -

My biggest problem with the power grid thing is to what end would I want to turn them on as a player? I'd want to keep things dark so it's easier to move (zombie limited vision) and players are forced to use chemlights/flares (although I would be, too). It'd also have to be a royal pain to get it up and running (lots of jerry cans, parts, etc), and it just doesn't seem worth it at that point. -

Presently, the toolbox does nothing at all. In vanilla DayZ, it was required only for removing cat wire and tank traps (which are both removed from DayZ Redux). However, I do plan on making it useful in DayZ Redux. This may involve making it required to repair vehicles. -

You mean Novy? This is not an intentional spawn setup by Rocket or myself. I'm not sure what causes people to get spawned there. It's happened to me one time way back in vanilla DayZ. I wish I could reproduce it consistently to find out what causes it. -

Cans work (I use them constantly to "stealthily" break into hospitals without using a gun). ARMA just seems to only appreciate your attempts to break the glass when you throw the cans at the outer most panes of glass instead of any of the inner panes. One can/bottle will do it. I do it all the time. I tried to contact you in game yesterday, but you must have just been AFK. I moved your character 20 meters north/20 meters east in hopes that you win the coordinate lottery and it's a favorable location. Let me know what happens. -

Whew I feel better now. When you posted, the only flight capable helicopter was the MH-6J Littlebird. I had spawned vehicles again just at that recent restart, which did spawn 2 Hueys. But, neither we're repaired yet or moved from spawn. But, what you say now makes sense. One spawned on Elektro hospital and they were manning the M240s to defend it while also using their Littlebird in flight. All is well. The other Huey I saw randomly spawned only lacking an engine, so he got lucky. I will be changing this method up soon (it's just the Bliss private hive default method right now, which is very courteous with its spawning) Sleep time. -

What helicopters were they? The MH-6J littlebirds or UH-1H Hueys? One of each? This sounds a bit shady given how only 1 flight capable was up until the recent restart. -

Haha. I did it in anticipation of the EU server going live that evening. But it's more in line, I think, with US playtime now. Have no fear, I spent the past 2 hours researching providers and ended up on a provider out of Amsterdam. I think that's a reasonable balance (I could be dead wrong) in geographical location for most EU players. The price was amazing, too. I'm not sure on their turn-up time, but I'm just waiting on that to happen and I'll get that spun up and you guys will have a sexy server to play on. That's on my list of things to do. Honestly with the company conference last week and then working on spinning up the new US box (and trying to spin up the new EU box) I've had no time to add content to DayZ Redux. I'm eating an early dinner now, and the plan is to start working on something at least this evening. About 60 total, which includes 10 bicycles and 6 ATVs. For the other cars they usually sit at a 2-3 cap each, with some exceptions. Helis are capped at 2 each. But, remember, this is the MAXIMUM vehicles. Not guaranteed to be up. When I run the respawn script, it may not fill out a full compliment of vehicles. The vehicle spawn stuff is also something I intend to tweak a lot soon. I think I've addressed the issues with helis leaking when fully fixed. No added buildings (yet). It's planned. If by moving tents you mean how tents seem to shift a few centimeters every restart further into a tree (like Nofo said), I don't know if that's something I can resolve given how ARMA does item placement in game and how it's not really meant for this degree of a persistent server environment. I've always wondered if it has to do with how Rocket forces tents to be flat to sea level and not in contour with the terrain. Stopping that may allow tents to "stay" better, but I've yet to test it. -------- TLDR for people who don't read the above: -Sorry for the stagnant week due to the company conference/new US box. I'm suspecting the loot change I made to speed things up/prevent loot from slowing down is causing this. It's happened twice now since then. I'm just going to have to revert back to client side loot for the time being until/unless I can find a better way to do it -

The loot spawn mechanic seizing up when there's 30-40 people on seems to be an ongoing issue. I made some tweaks prior to that restart which should hopefully help. It just seems like ARMA doesn't want to use different cores for the new threads it's spawning in the scripting language and therefore things are seizing up on one core when there's still plenty of cycles to go around on the other cores. If I can't nail this down, server-side loot may just be too taxing for the mod and I will have to roll back to the vanilla DayZ spawn model. Which, is a shame. But, it may mean the difference between a 30 and 70 slot count server or some such. -

Bad news on the EU server. I had everything setup, tested, working, ready to go -- and the whitelisting application apparently doesn't work on Windows 2003 Server. It just fails to start and crashes. Doing some other mechanism like rotating passwords is just too messy and not as protective from abuse. I also had some concerns about the CPU on the box, which may have not necessarily been enough for the demands of a full 40 slot DayZ. It is only marginally better than the older US based VPS. I may have to locate a new EU server. Going to head to bed shortly, but I wanted to explain why it went from "EU server almost ready" to no word about it. Maybe I'll be able to get it sorted by tomorrow night. -

Sorry guys. Was just told about the server freak out (just got back home). The logs were auto-cleared back that far, but it looks like something with the hive save of a crashed vehicle freaked and it was infinitely looping and saving a crashed vehicle over and over. That's the best I can guess. The vehicle code hasn't changed since inception of the mod, so I'm not sure what would've lead to it. At least it restarted automatically still. I'll keep watch on it. I'll have to setup some alert system people can use to notify me of a downed server. -

WAYPOINTS Don't Care (4) 13% Yes (12) 39% No (15) 48% CROSSHAIRS Don't Care (4) 13% Yes (7) 23% No (20) 65% Waypoints will be off, Crosshairs will be off (and I actually just turned off crosshairs on the US server as well) There was some disparity in the timezone choice, but the heaviest choices were between GMT-1 to GMT-5. I ended up on balancing it out at GMT-3 as a result. At this point the server is essentially brand new and ready to go. However, I am leaving in less than an hour to go to a friend's birthday party. And... when I tried to turn on the whitelister it's erroring out about not being a valid win32 application. Since the OS provided on the EU box is Win2003 server and the US box is Win2008 server, I have to imagine that's related. Hopefully it can be worked out, otherwise the EU server won't be able to utilize whitelisting and will need to use some sort of rotating password, which would be a much shittier method of allowing people into game since you can't account for everyone who is joining. Anyway, the EU box will be up if/when I can get that figured out with the whitelisting. EDIT: I fully expect to adjust the timezone again after people realize what time it actually translates to in game. It starts to get dark at 7PM game time and light at 4AM game time regardless of real world lighting. I'll do another poll in a week of the server being up, though, and we'll re-assess. EDIT #2: I also will be opening up donations eventually, since I cannot afford to pay/justify paying $265/month (EU + US servers combined) for DayZ. I just don't want to do so before I feel the mod is a bit more stable. The last thing I want is for someone to feel jipped out of their money, even if it is a donation. The server-side loot mechanism is just a bit troublesome right now and starts to break down (take much longer to cycle) once more people get online. This doesn't make sense given how much of the server is underutilized during this time, so it's more so of a script logic issue I imagine than a resource issue. -

I'd boost it higher, but the loot system seems to be straining a bit right now until the load. Which, is weird, since reports say desync isn't an issue and the server is quite underutilized CPU/MEM wise. I need to figure that out (if it can be figured out) before I increase it. -

I should have the EU server up immediately following the poll's close. If you're planning on transferring your character from the US server to the EU server, you will need to wait until the EU server is setup and live. This is because I am NOT copying the entire database over, but I will be manually "killing' (setting dead) the US player and copying its contents over top your naked EU server player on a per-request basis. Accordingly, you will need to have logged in at least once to the EU server before you will have that 'empty profile' I can copy stuff into. -

I passed out pretty hard last night from the week's events (the 3-day company convention I went to). Upon waking up, I had 96 emails. Almost ally were DayZ Redux related. Whitelist requests have been handled/responded to. Inbox cleared again. The longest time someone has waited for a whitelist response would be to the tune of a few hours (mostly due to my requiring that 'sleep' thing, hehe).
