Atleast they are being honest. Outright telling the community that this cannot be fixed is far better than letting it go on and never fixing it.

People who have higher FOVs do not do it to gain an advantage often times it is needed to not get motion sickness. This is especially important when people play with ultra high resolutions or large monitors. I personally have a 27 inch 1440p screen, low FOV simply do not work for me I get motion sick. high FOV does not give me any advantage what so ever it merely makes the game playable. FOV settings cannot be compared to 3pp wall peeking how are they even remotely the same. FOV settings are a staple of pc gaming man. Different monitors and different resolutions have an ideal FOV. Locking everyone at say 70 FOV would work fine for smaller monitors and lower resolutions but would look horrible on larger monitors.

Sorry I assumed you grouped the actual dispersion into the equation. -
Both are engine limitations. That is why I grouped them together. Wtf is this shit ? you are trying to justify a game breaking bug by saying people who need to play at high FOVs due to multi monitor set ups or high resolutions should have some kind of penalty ? A weapons magnification should remain the same for everyone regardless of their FOV setting.

Yes I do agree the weapon models and textures are quite impressive and nice in SA. I do however believe the community will make far better ones, the Arma mod scene is just that talented. -

Why not take this approach and apply it to real life realistic attributes. such as Reload timestability - swayRecoil absorptionhandling - how fast you can bring your gun up to fire -
This cool reddit post shows us what a game like dayz could have become without the gimmick of zombies and a more post apocalyptic survival route. Here is the reddit post . http://www.reddit.com/r/arma/comments/244w51/the_plague/ Pretty cool seeing what could have been. I would play the crap out of that a Survival heavy game where law and order is gone and no gimmicky janky zombies reinforcing old post apocalyptic stereotypes. This feels fresh.

This does not bode well for the game. If they cannot fix this I cant help but imagine so many of the other games "bugs" such as the FOV affecting magnification being fixed.
-
That would be terrific.
-
It is already confirmed bud. They tweeted that the system is being programed and will be added soon. I assume a inventory slot somewhere will let you put spare bullets in it and you then press R to reload.

I would safe its pretty sound to assume the bulk of the community is indeed coming from the mod thus from arma. Especially this early on. As the game goes on sure more new players will join in ones with 0 exposure to arma but for right now I would say most of the people who looked forward to SA were from the mod. -

It happened for the mod it will happen in stand alone too. Arma just has the most amazing modding community full of talent. You can see it in the weapon models alone, RH's weapon packs are sooo far ahead of anything that we have seen from the devs themselves. Community is just too full of talent and once a good mod comes along people will stop playing vanilla once again and move to the mod. -

I get the feeling they will never fix the FOV issue either. Lower FOVS = higher zoom when aiming -

Chances are that Stand Alone will continue to be unrealistic. People who were fans of the mod will probably have to wait for a realism mod that adds all of the things we want. Once that happens standalone population that is already dropping will be gone quickly all moved to the mod. -

True nobody would complain then. The thing is in any other community nobody would be complaining but the bulk of this community comes from Arma and mil sim games. Nobody complains about realism in rust why ? because that game is started off as being unrealistic. Dayz SA is some messed up smash up of realistic and completely unrealistic additions its a mess. -
you can turn it off if you suffer from a frame rate drop. I like the idea of PIP because eventually once base building gets complex the idea of setting up CCTVs will be supremely helpful with PIP. Imagine having to go to a room in your base that is the security room full of CCTV cameras all monitoring the outside of your base.

Yea standalone ignores what made the mod so popular. What made the mod popular was the mil sim aspects and loot. -

Yes but SA uses the same name as the mod, is published by the same publisher. One would have to assume the game would be realistic. Nobody expected arma 2 + zombies for stand alone we did expect realism however. -

No but the attachments should affect the way the gun handles or be purely cosmetic like most attachments and gun accessories not magically make the gun more accurate. -

gibonez replied to xalienax's topic in General Discussion
Do you like shorts or pants ? Do you feel more comfortable in pants or shorts ? Attachments do the same thing, just like pants and shorts it all comes down to personal preference. People put attachments on guns because its more comfortable to them and like the weapon better with it not because it makes the gun more accurate. Putting a piece of plastic at the end of your gun will not make it more accurate. -
So I've been aiming strictly with the center dot lately...

Yea the hot bar is atrocious. It should be replaced with a a button to toggle between melee and firearm. -

My disillusionment with the game stems from unrealistic game additions and the continued development of these casual mainstream features. Unrealistic movement, unrealistic health system, and the unrealistic shooting mechanics. We keep waiting for a patch that will make it feel closer to the mod but each new patch brings the game closer to unreal tournament instead of being closer to the mil sim we all love. -

How did you assume that?

Yup the dispersion is the single biggest problem in the game. Because of it probably only a single weapon is actually viable in game. This is not about realism or gameplay. This is about rewarding skill vs luck.
