    No reason why it cant be added. Just means more time to fine tune it for when survival and disease is a factor.

    I hope the move to a "new" engine is far more substantial than anyone here seems to think. I hope they fix all of the fundamental problems the game had from the previous engine. Hope they adjust the cameras position in 3pp so you cant look over cover. Hope they eliminate the ability to go inside walls. Hope they spend the time to get it right from the very start and not constantly play catch up. Even if this means the game does not come out for another 3 years I am patient I rather play an amazing working game in 3 years instead of a crappy game now.

    Yet that feature sounds like something right out of COD. Dare I say COD zombies is more realistic than Stand Alone ? Sad thing is if they ever revert and remove the silly dispersion and instead put in a realistic shooting method such as sway, and sight misalignment you would be the first one to proclaim how this is a brilliant solution and good riddance to the old dispersion model.

    Those that never played the mod do yourself a favor and give it a shot. Most of the aspects in dayz stand alone are indeed better but it is the subtle things in the mod that are more realistic that just make it a better game. The subtle things like pvp being substantially better, the game feeling far more consistent and tiny tiny things like accesing your inventory is risk reward decision since you cant move while you access it.

    While it would be good and I like the idea of a civilian rifle sharing commonality with some of the m4s parts and accessories I think the ar15 variant would be too close to an m4 to validate it. If we had to get a weapon that was close to the ar15 or shared its parts I would prefer the mossberg mvp with its ability to share magazines.

    Civilian Calibers are the same thing as military calibers. There really is no difference in reality. The most popular big game hunting round in the world is a former military caliber the .30-06 the most popular varmint round is the .223 aka 5.56 nato, the most popular target shooting medium sized game round is the .308 win aka 7.62 nato. Civilian rifle makers usually follow the military trends when it comes to caliber the civilian market then improves on what the military offers ten fold.

    Good choice. However if they included that rifle they would have to include a built on 10x hunting scope or something since it does not have iron sights. So either the devs would have to include something like a mossberb mvp, savage hog hunter, or cz 557 that all have built in iron sights or include a rifle without iron sights but some type of hunting optic built in.

    Thats the thing . The damage model in dayz is really inconsistent sometimes it takes 1 shot to kill sometimes it takes 10. The clothing absorbing rifle rounds and helmets absorbing rounds mechanic needs to go. Clothing should only differ in inventory space and aesthetics not in damage absorbing ability.
  11. Simple topic would you guys prefer 2d scopes with the correct magnification instead of the current 3d scopes that have incorrect magnifications and are affected by the fov settings. Thanks to orlok for bringing this mod to my attention. So what do you people think? Proper magnification values and better performance. Vs prettier graphics with incorrect zoom settings.

    Yea red orchestra 2 has it too not a good solution imo since it cuts frame rate nearly in half. 2d scopes have no performance loss and can represent a more realistic if done right perspective of what it actually is when looking down glass.
  13. I think it should be completely random , loot should be far more random than it is now. Military locations should only have a slightly higher chance to spawn military loot and civilian locations should spawn military loot along with civilian loot with of course military loot being relatively rare. A more randomized loot system would keep the map populated not just 3 percent of the map where military buildings are.

    I understand what you are saying but the problem is not having Civilian weapons in military calibers seeing as the most popular civilian calibers often times are ex military calibers ie. 30-06 or current military calibers such as the .308 aka 7.62x51 and .223 Ie. 5.56 nato. Having civilian rifles in these calibers is not only realistic but vital I think with of course the eventual adoption of even more calibers that are found in the civilian market with their own unique properties Ie. .270 = powerful and flat shooting, .243 = high velocity flat shooting and moderate damage 22-250 = Extremely high velocity, easily affected by wind past 700m, low power at long range There are far too many civilian firearms in military calibers to ignore.

    They are pretty much the same thing. Although I rather see a 20 inch or 24 inch varmint rifle instead merely due to the increased muzzle velocity. The m12 mod0 and mod 1 are amazing rifles and the 1:8 twist 18 inch barrel is great but it cant beat the 1:7 twist on the longer 20 and 24 inch barrels allowing it to stabilize heavier bullets thus more long range potential and more velocity.

    How so they are far more useable than the 3d scopes. You can use them at their intended ranges meanwhile the 3d scopes are pretty much all only useable at close range. Even the Ballistic Drop chevrons are useable with the 2d scopes .

    Here is the hit boxes from arma 2 to arma 3. I wish Dayz standalone had arma 3s model that way we could model heart shots and various organs in. Arma 2 = what stand alone probably has Arma 3

    I think we need to see a more in depth damage model something other than just Dead and not dead. The incapacitation model in game right now is far too inconsistent to be used reliably. Something like this would open the doors substantially for taking hostages, different player encounters and such. Weapon damage if anything should be increased but the problem right now is the complete lack of consistency no idea if an m4 will kill in 1 shot or if it will take 10 due to the bad clothing absorbing damage mechanic. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/189882-incapacitation-kinectic-knockdown-discussion/ This right here would fix the pvp in alot of ways. It would make weapons such as the .22 lr more relevant would allow for taking hostages, allow for banditry without necessarily having to kill a person. Generally would make for gunfights to be a whole lot more fun especially when in groups imagine having your buddy take a sniper shot to the chest being incapacitated then using the ragdoll to drag the player to safety where you then begin to revive him and stop the bleeding and calm down the pain to bring him back .

    Because 2d scopes are better in nearly all situations in dayz. The only time 3d scopes seem to be good in dayz are when they have no magnification such as red dots. 2d scopes for all magnified optics would help increase their useability , ensure that everyone has the correct magnification and perhaps in the future allow for ranging reticles to be adopted.

    Yea this is sad. SA has severely nerfed player distances and not only that the quality of the rendered players seems to be substantially lower than it was in Arma 2. Looking at a player rendered at 3000m in ACE mod or Arma 3 the player model looks substantially better than it does in stand alone.

  23. You mean now that there are no exaggerated bullet impacts where rifle bullets kick up huge clouds of dust up you can no longer walk your bullets in to targets ? Guess if this was intentional the devs found yet another way to increase skill in the game by making less obvious bullet impacts the unskillful act of walking bullets into target will no longer exist. Honestly though very subtle bullet impacts would be a good thing and would enforce the need for a spotter whenever doing any long range work. Sort of is true. It entirely depends on the terrain and how dry the land is. On desert yes even .22lr will kick up dirt . On grasslands with tall grass nope good luck seeing anything at a good distance. Seeing impacts at anything past 500m on grass is insanely hard especially when trying to recover from the recoil and readjusting your cheek weld.

    because the size of the map is substantially larger than Battlefield 3 maps. Rendering players and objects at 5000m has amazing gameplay potential things such as scouting ahead play even more importance and it creates more immersion having objects not magically pop up at 1000m. The Bf3 video was definetely set up too not to mention the player does not render and is merely shooting at glint.
