  1. This is why I imagine such a system was conceived for. I can already see multiple slightly different versions of weapons that are the same as the basic weapon when it comes to damage and accuracy but the only difference is some kind of visual change. How so ? People are not entitled to receive all of the best loot just because they bought the game. That is like saying everyone who purchases wow automatically deserves to have the best legendary items in the game. Buying the game should only give you the possibility to find these rare items. The idea of finite resources is fantastic, it might turn out to be the thing that finally makes military firearms extremely rare in game.

    Flame throwers

Unrealistic in a sense of who bloody has one anymore ? It really does not have a role in any type of warfare anymore . It is also unrealistic in a sense of why would a survivor bother using a heavy, silly weapon like a flamethrower ? A weapon that he would not only not find but if by some miracle he did find would not work as all the rubber gaskets would have surely dried up after decades of exposure to fuel.
  3. You cant have something move without blood pumping. Clotting blood zombies would = paralyzed zombies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWutdPGYcEg

    Flame throwers

I would not want them in not realistic and if they are anything like real life the flamethrower is more of a danger to the player than whatever it is trying to burn.
  5. Yes they should people need to remember these are not zombies but humans who have a virus. Thus they should die from bleeding out too.

Only thing I took from that video was how badly 3pp ruins combat and results in everyone just waiting around.
  7. Pretty much this. With the current system nothing truly is rare you can always find it and plenty of it. Just look at what is probably currently the rarest item in the game the LRS it can easily be found in huge quantities if you really want to. The other huge positive of finite resources or finite items is that it increases that sense of paranoia and fear that you get when you have good gear on you. People with truly rare loot will be extremely scared to lose it.

    Enfield & Winchester

One probably huge positive of the lee enfield being introduced is it probably wont be ruined by the accessory system. No quad rail no bipod no optics. Atleast I would hope not.

    Desperately needs this.

Yea I like the idea of a dedicated civilian hunting round like .30-06. From my understanding its is insanely popular all over the world as a big game round.

How would you combat player suicide?

The spawn timer would actually never be a problem unless you are intentionally trying to kill yourself. It is pretty hard to die 2 times within the spawn of 30 minutes atleast unintentionally.

How would you combat player suicide?

I like the more realistic approach to dealing with players returning to their bodies. Realistic approach is to have a finite number of persistent bodies on the server say 50 to 100. These bodies remain at the server sorta like containers the trick is they can be moved, they can be set on fire to destroy all clothing and items, they can mutilated as a warning sign to other survivors, they also have various states of decay easily visually telling the player how long the body has been around . For this to happen however player suicide needs to be severely reduced. Either by a spawn timer to prevent too many frequent deaths or by completely changing the respawn timer so that you spawn in the wilderness.

Nothing is keeping you from playing with friends. The ideas in this thread are just ways to slow down the rate at which people kill themselves so that they do not litter the map with empty bodies and cause server strain. If they were not putting serious strain on the server peoples bodies would have not gone from despawning in over 6 hours to despawning in mere minutes. I remember a long time ago devs explaining that the suicide was causing bad strain.

    Enfield & Winchester

it exists So many of them in circulation all over the world it would not be a huge stretch to imagine them being in a Eastern European nation.

How would you combat player suicide?

I prefer the middle option you suggested. Some kind of timer after you die only if you happen to die too many times in a short time span. Say your character dies 2 times within the timeframe of 1 hour any death following that is met with a 10 minute timer before you can respawn. I agree that you can never stop people from suicide but you can slow them down and hopefully that slowdown is enough to not have bodies everywhere and the servers not being strained by the players all trying to get their favorite spawn.
  16. See thats exactly where the fun comes from in dayz. The fun is the ever lasting paranoia the fear that strikes players when they all of a sudden see another player. Their heart sinks and they are instantly full of adrenaline. This is what dayz is and having finite resources and ultra rare items in the game helps increase this.

How would you combat player suicide?

Absolutely not. This is just as bad as wanting to spawn in with friends. Do you also want fast travel ? would you care for vehicles to spawn in front of you once you earn a kill streak too ?

Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion

Wish the proponents of streamlining would just flatout say. "we want streamlining in the game because it makes the game easier and lets us go pvp faster"

How would you combat player suicide?

It wouldn't affect people who have been alive longer than 20 minutes so those squad players would be fine. They would just respawn and try to find their squad.

How would you combat player suicide?

Nobody I mean nobody would suffer from spawn timers aside from suicide people and very few very few unlucky people to die within that 10 minute grace period.

Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion

Also gentlemen do you consider yourself a casual gamer ? It does not even have to do with realism at the end of the day. Having stream lined ammo simply means having less options and diversity in t he game along with that it makes finding ammo far easier. Even the addition of 1 new caliber exponentially makes it harder to load a gun up with the right caliber. Like countless people have said before its a gameplay issue, having streamlined calibers makes the game easier.
  22. Private hives will fix alot of the problems but this new system with finite resources is a huge step up. It potentially means a heavy restriction on firearms and ammo if done correctly. We might be seeing a day when finding even a lowly sporter is a happy occasion and a reason to celebrate. Of all of the proposed future features this systems ability to control the global loot system has the most promise and potential. Sure the band-wagoners who only want to spawn in and pvp will have a harder time finding weapons but at the end of that day thats fine.

Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion

What you need to realize is that even those new players who did not play the mod probably hold the same gameplay elements and emphasis on realism with as much importance as the mod players. Be honest with yourself do you honestly believe joe casual who just took up gaming a few years ago and doesn't know crap about gaming would buy dayz ? It requires a certain type of hardcore player to even purchase dayz this casual dickfuckery is stupid. The sheer thought that these mythical players are playing dayz makes me laugh. What doesn't is the fact that the game is being affected by these made up players and as a result the game is suffering.

How would you combat player suicide?

Easy suicide is the problem , easy suicide to the point where player bodies are forced to despawn after a few minutes instead of a few hours like they should. Thus something should be done about it a timer seems like a fine idea. A short 10 minute break when you die if the game detects you died more than once in the past 20 minutes.

Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion

Yea making it easy and accessible for this mythical casual gamer player base that somehow exists. I highly doubt these casual players exist not only within Dayz but on steam. You simply don't spend good money building a gaming pc to be a casual gamer. If you are a casual gamer you game on consoles simple as that.
