They have but not because of the frequency of updates but because of their significance. They are refining the tiny details in the game and that imo is the biggest improvements that really make the game gel. Things like improved animations, weapon weight and dexterity , sitting aiming animations, sorting through bad ammo, unique and meaningful civilian weapon additions like the upcoming Cz527 carbine and the longhorn, and finally just now ragdolls. Those tiny details all improve the game so much more than pointless stuff like vehicles.

Suggestion: zombies don't attack when spawning in

Pretty much this. Add stamina , add realistic weight system and realistic movement speed. Change the spawn system so people spawn randomly in a house all over the map Then watch how the "small" map suddenly feels massive. If they ever do add realistic speed I will love and laugh hysterically at the reddit comments. "WTF devs you ruined game, It now takes me forever to go to berenzino and pvp why ? nobody will play game now"

In game it should be easier with the akm due to the lack of dispersion. In real life it is easier with an m4 due to the flat trajectory, better iron sights, and better trigger. Not that it is easy to aim at something small like a head at 200 m.
-
What does that translate to in regards to MOA @ 100 yards ? Not impossible at all but hard absolutely, the accuracy difference between an m4 and an ak47 mostly stem from how much better the sights are on an m4 and the quality of the ammo. That being said the accuracy on an akm in real life is pretty darn good. I hope the future weapons and final weapons share alot with the AKM. The akm is by far alot closer to what I would hope the final weapons feel like. It has better accuracy but most importantly it does not appear to have any dispersion reducing parts.

If you love mods in other games you will absolutely love mods in Standalone and in dayz mod. The possibilities are nearly endless and server owners have amazing control on how their particular server works or functions. If you want a hyper realistic low loot server with harsh survival mechanics you can do that with certain mods and scripts, if you want a server without zombies and 1000 vehicles and plenty of guns you can do that too. Modding in PC gaming is imo the biggest positive about the platform, it lets the community explore game ideas that devs can possibly not afford to. Take ACE mod for instance it takes what is already in what some consider a niche game Arma 2 and turns the realism up to level 11 and as a result some amazing gameplay mechanics have originated from it. Heck without mods dayz standalone would have never existed. -

Awesome I remember a wounding animation a long time ago in one of the experimental builds I cannot remember if it was due to a gunshot wound or a broken arm but whatever it was it caused the player to limp and hop along slowly and it was truly slick looking. -

True but they are issued a new improved round that is nearly as lethal and actually penetrates steel better than 7.62x51 nato. They replaced the round with poor terminal ballistics the m885 with the m885a1 the Marines apparently adopted a different round an open tip round that performs almost identical to the mk262 as of 2012. Like you I am also not an expert but I have shot plenty of 5.56 nato in my life and I truly cannot understand how anyone can take one to the chest and not be mortally wounded immediately. Even if it is just a super charged 22 , 5.56 hits steel hard even at 500 yards. -

5.56x45 is plenty deadly part of the problem is that much like real life the damage a 5.56 round can do to a person is random and it all depends on shot placement. For every story you find of a guy taking 7 shots to die I am sure you can find stories of 5.56 killing a person with a single shot. Reminds me of this old story from Iraq. It was a guns and ammo article that I can no longer find. Newer 5.56 ammo is plenty deadly but more importantly it is so much more accurate than old 5.56 ammo that was issued. 1 moa out of a mk 12 spr is pretty amazing considering it is an off the rack semi auto rifle. 1 moa is pretty darn impressive out of a civilian bolt gun but 1 moa out of a military rifle is daam amazing. The 5.56 is plenty deadly and any problems of its weak terminal ballistics are all in the past. I would have no problems taking a .223 rifle to hunt even big game as long as I had something like a 77 grain soft point but unfortunately it is illegal where I live and have to resort to .30 cals. -

Even the slowest of the weapons in game probably the akm is still responsive enough. -

Yes heavy hitter at close range but it will have severe bullet drop making long range shots really hard as your scope would run out of elevation. Ill explain at 500m 5.56 drops about 86 inches meanwhile 7.62x39 drops 150 inches or so. 7.62x39 is just a heavier bullet traveling at much slower speeds. The problem is this game has Easy mode noob friendly range estimation so as long as you know the range to the target simple page up clicks will get your bullet there. Had this game had angular real life elevation adjustments using the 5.56 or 7.62x39 for anything past 300m would be really tought and hard as your mistakes in elevation are not as forgiving as they are now. -

Just because a rifle is a bolt action does not make it a long range rifle. Heck its a carbine that fires a relatively slow moving, aerodynamic bullet with heavy bullet drop. This should in theory be as useful as the akm. Yea I think that is part of the problem the lack of any type of incapacitation system in game. Perhaps they can tackle this by assigning different bleed rates to various parts of the body with different calibers. 5.56 having a high internal bleeding rate so while it does not remove blood it just counts down from a timer before you character is knocked out from loss of blood. say we start at a number like 100 for the internal blood. A 5.56 to the chest could have a internal blood loss number of 20/s so if you get shot in the chest it takes 5 seconds of constant bleeding before you are knocked out. Stomach shot is 10/s , arms 5/s, heart if they can manage to get that detailed would be 50/s. Each following shot only adds to the internal blood loss . So person A is shot 2 times with a 5.56 1 time to the chest, 1 time to the stomach right after the 2nd shot player A would only have 60 blood left on his character and would be incapacitated in a total of 2.3 seconds of bleeding without bandaging. -
I think we sort of misunderstood the central hive thing..
gibonez replied to Irish.'s topic in General Discussion
The modded servers are not connected to the regular hive servers. Modded servers have their own databases and hives, when you join the server you start from scratch and when you quit the character only saves for that server. It's kinda funny because persistence across vanilla servers are imo one of the games biggest flaws and weaknesses hence how the private server community thrived in the mod. It's insane how many problems are fixed with a simple thing like 1 character per server. -
Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion

I sure do the round has so many awesome qualities as a civilian round especially if they add a varmint rifle and other civilian. 223 rifles to the civilian loot. -
We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
gibonez replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
Surprised more people did not like my idea of different animations for bandits and heroes. It is subtle requires the player to pay attention and it most importantly gives the player a means or should I say a little bit of information about what type of player a stranger is. -
Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion
gibonez replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
It makes sense why make the cz 527 use 5.56 when for the time being 5.56 will only spawn at helicopter crashes. In the future when they add 5.56 rounds to the civilian loot spawns then it would make sense to include the varmint full sized rifle. The full sized 26 inch varmint version is interesting because of its thick bull barrel and the insane velocity it gets. This could be cool for gameplay as it would seperate the mosin,cz 527 and cz varmint by each having their very own unique ballistics and damage potential. Mosin = Slow bullet, heavy drop, high damage Cz527 = Slow bullet, massive drop, medium damage Cz varmint= Hyper fast bullet, Little drop, low damage at long distance The potential for 3600 + fps in a rifle in dayz is awesome. While it is not the 4200 fps of a .22-250 the huge increase of muzzle velocity will be very noticeable compared to the mosin. -

7 shots even to an extremely drugged out person seems insanely excessive. As far as the lethality of 5.56 the only thing I can think of is the D.C sniper from back in 2003. All of the victims were shot once with an ar 15 and of the 13 that were shot in either the abdomen, chest or head only 3 survived. If the 5.56 is considered weak I am scared for the people that get shot with anything more "powerful". -
Yea he said the cz527 was going to switch over to 7.62x39 and in that the .223 or 5.56 nato would change and then a cz 527 varmint would be added . Change had to do with 5.56 only spawning on heli crashes atm.

Foregrips - What Should They Do And How Should They Do It?
gibonez replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Yes because some resemblance to reality and not making the game a twitch shooter lowers the iq of the game correct ? That annoys the crap out of me but I always assumed it was merely a placeholder like most things in the game currently are because I don't believe anyone could purposely put something that dumb into any game. -

gibonez replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
The gun handling seems pretty spot on for me. It slow enough to not make the game a twitch shooter but not so slow that the game is unresponsive. -
I am not opposed to a "realistic" form of a flame thrower aka Spray paint + matches = mini flamethrower but the old ww2 gasoline tank on your back flame thrower would be too obscure.

gibonez replied to Irish.'s topic in General Discussion
Those are scripts not mods. when will people get that ? if you are playing on a 1000 car server but it is still vanilla dayz its not a mod server. Mods are completely different games and require additional data to be downloaded. Epoch, origins, dayzero etc those are mods and they would such if they had any kind of restrictions that would hurt their potential. -

gibonez replied to Irish.'s topic in General Discussion
Let's hope that is not the case and modders have full control. Last thing we need is a bunch of gimped crappy restricted mods. -
It should realistically mount on no problem but then again the attachment system isnt very realistic as the m4 should theoretically mount a long range scope too yet it doesn't.
