  1. Player suicide is at an all time high. New players sprinting to the nearest high location and jumping off so that they can get a spawn closer to their friends or closer to where the action is. This is a problem on countless levels everything from their bodies being a server resource hog to it just plainly being bad gameplay and a tad bit unimmersive. So Ladies and Gents how do we combat this aweful epidemic that only serves to promote less exploration and the endless cycle of Loot , pvp, die , repeat ? My first Idea was to simply increase the height needed for a player to kill themselves. Simply put make most of the places where people commit suicide from merely cause the player to break their legs and then be forced to crawl not being able to die. Within a week of such a patch being implemented hive wide player suicides would dramatically decrease and the value of life will come back to the wasteland. What are your ideas to stop this bad gameplay mechanic of suicide for better locations ?
  2. Put your weapon down and then sprint. Humans simply do not move like they do in FPS people do not move side to side with the same dexterity that they do when moving forward.
  3. New movement is far better. Why do people insist on turning this into a twitch shooter. They finally fixed the movement so it is more natural and realistic yet people want to go back to the 10 mph strafe speeds ?

    Everything the devs have been doing has been leading up to this. This is probably their biggest challenge when making dayz you know it will be in the final version.

    Fuel for server hopping ahaha. It completely makes server hopping useless so I fail to see how that works out. With finite resources whats the point of server hopping for an item that no longer spawns.

    Gameplay balance ? to create some sort of item hyerarchy ? who knows but whatever it is it simply works its a great idea. People will not suddenly stop playing because they cant find an m4 man. Even if they did who cares they already bought the game so what. Also as far as the percentages and numbers go nobody knows what loot or how many of that loot will be restricted. So arguing purely on that is pointless . At the end of the day the game improves due to the devs being able to control the loot better.

    read that those two new systems were just added to arma 3. It is called sway but its more like weight and dexterity.

    Once again buying the game does not entitle you to a rare weapon . Why do people have this belief ? if that were the case then everyone should spawn with m4s right ? The average player will not even be aware of these backend systems put in place and they would really have no clue what a global loot control system is. The only thing that would do is have the player be super excited when he finally sees an m4 on a player. Having a few people angry that their server hopping is useless is a bonus to this system. Finite resources does not encourage or discourage server hopping but what it does do is make it pointless. The mod was also arma 2 with zombies. There was nothing unique about dayz mod it was merely arma 2 with zombies thus they had to use arma 2 weapons . If you might have noticed nearly all of the weapons in the game thus far are civilian weapons with the exception of a tiny handful of military rifles and smgs that are extremely rare. Reddit might represent a small or a huge portion of the sales but who cares what people want the civilian approach to weapons and loot is working and people seem to praise it.

    Go to any reddit thread and you will see peoples uproar over military stuff in the game. Remember when the flashbang was added people were raging calling the game a cod clone. Yet when something like the cz is added it is nothing but praise. Generally speaking there seems to be a dislike for military weapons, gear and clothing amongst the community, how much of the total population of gamers this is I don't know all I know is they are pretty vocal and seem sizeable. Not gonna happen people are starting to realize how good of an idea this is. Finally adds a means to control the rarity of things. Yet none of that applies since dayz is not an rpg. Making military weapons rare in dayz just means only some people will have them and more importantly it means rare guns will actually become rare .
  10. I honestly don't see why they dont take the mods approach to server hopping. If you server hop or spawn near loot the loot disappears before you can grab it. So all loot near a players log in location is gone.

    I think people just want all military related items to be extremely rare in general not just NVGs.

    Arma 3 has the same weight based system as dayz. Not just gun sway something that Dayz severely lacks atm. All I am saying is the gun momentum , dexterity , and weight system all are far better than what we had before and with some refinement it can be perfected but even then its darn good right now and see little flaws in the current implementation. Right now it offers certain weapon types a very noticeable advantage at close quarters while still giving the other weapons enough responsiveness to be viable at short distances. It simply feels right.

    How is hardcore mode different?

    Hardcore is just regular without 3pp . That being said the removal of 3pp improves the game dramatically, stealth is a viable option now against players, player encounters are alot more dynamic and you no longer have people camping prone on rooftops. There are a whole lot more oooo shit moments in hardcore those special moments when 2 players see each other for the first time.

    Probably a bug. Zombies making you bleed is kinda stupid to begin with . Wish zombies would just do more shock damage and then remove any bleeding or chance to bleed from their punches. Then I would like to see player bleeding from knives, gunshots increased dramatically so that bleeding is a really dangerous situation.

    What we have now is not a compromise but instead a game mechanic taken from Arma 3 that solves a long standing problem with arma games and fps in general. It solves the problem of not treating short barreled light weight weapons with their only real advantage over say a longer rifle or lmg, it makes them much faster to wield and thus better for CQC like in real life. People don't prefer the m4 over the m16 because it looks cooler, they prefer because it is better for clearing houses those extra 6 inches of barrel on the m16 really gets in the way. This is also just another case of Arma 3 having a good effect on dayz , hopefully they add the stamina system that was recently added too, it would work especially well in dayz I am interested in seeing how it affects player migration around the map and behavior. Would be interesting to see if the addition of stamina makes people not bother sprinting full speed towards their usual pvp towns and has them explore their vicinity more.

    It is not ruining anything if anything it improves it tenfold. Now finally there is an advantage for using a pistol or a light smg at close quarters compared to say a heavy assault rifle with tons of accessories or a lmg. The new system is fantastic and it adds greatly needed depth to the game.

    Makes perfect sense. Guns have weight and people do not move and aim weapons in real life like they do in standard fps. Dayz is not a twitch shooter, it is not battlefield, call of duty or counter strike , it borders on being a simulation thus even something like shooting tries to mimic real life.

    It is a feature and a good one too. Stops the game from being a twitch shooter best new addition imo. Combined with the removal of the crosshair + stamina it will lead to some good firefights.

    It actually stops server hopping. What good would server hopping do if all of the servers are done spawning rotors ? If you reach your limit of say 500 rotors across all server server hopping just becomes a waste of time.

    I like the idea of almost never seeing a helicopter due to not every server having one. Helicopters are so detrimental to gameplay that having almost none across all servers is a good idea and realistic.

    The only thing not spawning an empty mag on weapons is it makes certain weapons useless. By the time you find a sporter mag, or a pistol mag you already found a better weapon or atleast one that does not require a mag.

    Who do you know stores magazines far away from their weapons ? Or actually who would even have a weapon in their house with out any magazines it is literally like having a revolver in your house without a cylinder. The magazine is just as vital to proper gun function as a trigger or a bolt. Imo civilian spawns should start spawning magazines and weapons that require magazines should spawn with 1 empty one inside .

    Absolutely but part of the problem is as long as there is no way to identify a bandit from a hero in game everyone will kos. Those that would have killed on sight regardless would still do it, but those who are hesitant to will not take the risk and kill just in-case the seemingly friendly player is not friendly. If they add a subtle way to identify bandits from heros such as different animations for each type or small specs of blood on the clothing of bandits you might potentially see alot more player interaction amongst those that actually want it.
