I always just liked the idea of optics being extremely rare things in a post apocalyptic world. Things like military optics like red dots, acog scopes and high end FFP tactical variable power scopes being almost impossible to find thus increasing their value when actually encountered. I don't mind the idea of hunting scopes and such being a little more common to find though. -

Yea a magazine or some ammo is believeable but a 3500 dollar optic or a 600 dollar red dot? or a 1500 dollar acog just randomly laying around probably not. -
Completely different problem altogether. I would remove balota turn it into a civilian airport no mil gear, remove green mountain military gear, remove the vybor base and then put in a small military and I mean small like 2 tents in Stary sobor or novy sobor the halfway point between nwaf and the coast.

Read the post again. This would actually make finding optics FAR FAR harder than having to find the accessories alone. What I am advocating for is having optics spawn only on guns in even more restricted numbers than they are currently in. This serves to not only limit the number of optics you find but would serve to have people use the accessories on different weapons that they spawn on in more deliberate ways. Only spawning the PSO for instance on the SVD when it is in would serve to end the prolific use of the pso on the akm for instance. 9/10 of the skms I find have a pso optic thus making it only spawn on an SVD would reduce that number dramatically not only because it would require you to take it off the svd but because the SVD would and should be an ultra rare weapon. This is the opposite of easy mode COD. This is about making optics ultra rare as they should be in a low tech post apocalyptic world. -
No I don't miss it they should take this approach of restricting military spawn points to most of the map and keep the North west airfield the only area in the map to consistently find military gear.

Guns also dont arc bullets in 45 degree angles. The reason pistols are hard to shoot in real life is because it is not a very stable platform the guns themselves are actually really inherently accurate. Short thick stout barrels with little to no flex = accuracy only limited by the bullets they fire The game is already talking steps to simulating what makes a gun inaccurate in real life with the new sway. If they ever add some sight misalignment everything will be perfectly set up for the guns to have their real life mechanic accuracy. The only reason for a pistol to fire 10 feet to the left of a person at 50m in game should be user error not a rng magical cone of fire.

People don't buy a 3500 dollar optic in a roof top or on a restaurant table. People generally do not store gun accessories they mount them on guns thus it makes far more sense to have them only spawn on guns at very very low numbers. This would also be better for gameplay as it would make accessories such as optics far more rare instead of extremely common like they are now. -

But they did and do use them. Military has been using open tip 5.56 for years now in the form of mk262mod1 ammo. They offer better accuracy and apparently more stopping power. Also yup just about any rifle bullet has more "stopping" power than any .45 acp bullet. If you want a person killed you use a rifle .

never heard of a rat trap shotgun booby trap but I am intrigued. I have heard of toe poppers aka bamboo in ground with a nail in the middle shotgunshell in the center then bury it. Person steps on it and the nail detonates the shell bamboo shots the buckshot up and destroys the persons foot.

Empty tin can+ gun powder from shotgun shells just cut the plastic shell and empty the powder into the can , Open up a walkie talkie and cut the wire that goes into the speaker insert it into the powder, duct tape the crap out of the tincan. Radio in the the first walkie talkie and kabooom. You can do the same with cellphones and theoretically if the initial explosion is big enough you should be able to duct tape the tin can onto a larger much more powerful explosive such as a mortar round and create and even bigger kaboom.

Even now the pistols turn faster than any of the weapons in a house I would put my bets on a pistol with a magazine vs a akm with a drum mag.

clearing houses. Once the pistols start spawning with empty mags and the gun dexterity system is enhanced and the if the dispersion system is removed and pistols behave like actual pistols then they will be king of clearing houses.

They are designed to incapacitate rapidly. This is part of the problem at the moment. The bleeding, and bullet damage system simply does not work without additional layers. Having only 3 states at the moment kind of sucks. Conscious , unconscious and dead. We need incapacitation, hurt stages, we need different types of bleeding including bleeding that cannot be stopped and heavy bleeding that requires multiple rags and bandages where the bandage slows the bleeding but you will still continue to bleed for a while.

That would be true if this was a complete game but it is not. For every bug they have to squash now the more time is wasted and the more development slows because they have to divert resources to fix some bug that could be ignored for a while had this been an internal alpha test. Hence the more bugs they ignore the faster development goes and ultimately the faster and better the game comes out. This has nothing to do with being a fanboy believe me as you can tell I am not afraid of being critical about the game. People just need to realize that fixing and going after bugs is such a huge waste of time at this stage. -

Nothing needs to be fixed. I say let them ignore bugs for a while and just keep pushing content updates no need to senselessly slow other parts of development just because people want a few bugs squashed now that will get squashed later anyway. -
Dev blog from nearly a year ago. Injury / limping whatever it is system is clearly not in yet. Glad to see its coming though the current shrug off bullets like nothing and stop bleeding with a dirty rag mechanics kinda suck.

Some people just want easy stuff they have this idea that if they are playing a video game every second of it should be enjoyable this is the case with 99 percent of video games it shouldn't be the case with dayz.

Imagine if and when they add bikes they actually have a max speed lower than the current sprint speed. I would love that just to see the complaining. Bikes #1 bonus should not be increased movement speed around the map but far less fatigue when traversing the same distance vs on foot.

In game on the 10/22 no. It does not take optics yet. Like all guns if you got enough elevation adjustment on your scope you can reach out there and hit it. Some high end scopes + 20 moa bases allow .22lr to reach out to 600 yards extremely hard shots and when the round gets there it has little power but yes it will get there bullets dont magically stop flying. The problem with .22lr is that it goes transonic around 120-150 yards after that its a very unstable round so its hard to get accurate shots out of.

Is this still in the game ? I remember a while back when you logged off you would sit down for 30 seconds or a minute after you actually quit the game. This was terrific for combating , combat loggers but since I only play solo and not with any friends I have no idea if this is still in game or not.

New Arma 3 sway truly is awesome. It is much higher than Dayz appears to be at the moment plus it has a stamina and weight system. So yes even more sway is probably a good thing.

Nothing to really worry about the damage system seems far too simple to be the final design choice. Hopefully in the near future we get the real wound/medical system. I am talking about hydrostatic shock, incapacitation, various states of blood loss rate depending on the gun caliber and organ hit, injury states from gunshots resulting in restricted movement and slowed speed, etc. I am sure given enough time the damage model will be impressive and complex like hopefully most things in the game are. #nomagicalrags
