  1. I honestly think zombies are only there because people are mostly dumb and buy anything with zombies in it. Look at the walking dead easily one of the worst written shows in ages yet people love it.
  2. This is to be expected. Some people are freaking out over nothing. Take a look at zombie movies look at the old Gorge Romero zombie classics and you will then see zombies are just background noise. Zombies in the true zombie movies are more of a pressure that makes the people commit acts of atrocities and lose their humanity. The real danger in dayz will and should be humans and their lack of humanity.
  3. Not sure I like the idea of Hardcore mode being anything other than just regular without cheating due to third person view. If they fundamentally change hardcore from Regular those who enjoy regular but absolutely hate third person view will be left alienated.
  4. No let them learn the hard way like everyone else did before them. In fact make it harder for everyone by keeping stuff like this off and then maybe just maybe introduce a hard to find gps that you can set waypoints on.

    I like the step they took but I would love it even more if in one of the future patches instead of releasing a firearms balance patch they simply stated. "We decided to give each of the weapons their real life attributes and values, also attachments no longer work on weapons that you would not ordinarily see on in real life nor weapons that require excessive machining to fit on. Attachments no longer affect the dispersion in any shape or form and any further balancing will be done by controlling the loot tables"

    That make sense I do notice smaller groups when I am shooting with a magnified optic. What about the BS attachments that affect dispersion are they still around such as the mosins compensator ?

    Sadly some tacticool mosins can mount m203s.

    That + or 0 .5 or 1 moa makes all the difference man. It is the determining factor that leads to the mosin nagant unrealisticly hitting people at 1400m or not.

    Hmm those numbers seem pretty spot on and these are in the new update ? The only one that seems off is the mosin 3.4 moa seems too accurate for a mosin and 5.16 seems far too inaccurate for a cz 527 a gun I want to buy merely because of its reported to shoot about 2 moa with crappy surplus ammo. One of the main reasons I will buy one. Although the 50 dollar magazines scare me.

    It would do exactly the opposite. Most of the children would get frustrated and instead shoot from close range and give up on long range shooting.
  13. Good thread. I am starting to worry about the games direction. The further the game gets in development the further away it gets away from Bohemias Roots.

    Because the map is pretty universally loved. Bohemia really nailed it when they made Chenarus and Takistan fantastic maps in every way. I would kill for it to be the following instead. Stop movingLay pronepress Shift + space to deploy bipod and toggle onto the environment stabilizing the gun.Use the mildots to measure the persons height in mil dots then use the following formula to get an approximate range.Once range is estimated you use a real life piece of paper to refernce a dope chart that you printed out for the particular rifle and scope that you have in game. You estimate the player to be 500m away so you press page up or scroll the mousewheel up until your reach 45 minutes of elevation adjustment.You then press shift + k and an arrow shows the wind is to your back and is in the direction of the player so you do not adjust for wind on the shot.You aim, hold your breath and fire.

    I am down for LMG/ and crew served weapons being added. So long as they make sense. This would mean we see plenty of ags 30s, spg 9s, PKM machineguns, Russian HMG and I would even be down for light mortars so long as they were like this.

    Hey hey hey I am an American and I have been one of the most vocal proponents for Eastern Calibers and weapons in both Civilian and military forms. I would be more than happy to see an overabundance of Eastern and civilian weapons and a downright drought of Western weapons.

    Yea but video games requires absolutely zero physical exertion . Isn't some kind of physical exertion at least the base minimum requirement for something to be considered a legitimate sport ? I can see Dota 2, or other MOBA games are legitimate sports mainly due to their competitive structure, their overabundance of depth and the deep thinking required to play in the upper echelons of the game. Even with all those categories I still struggle to see it as a sport along the lines of every other legitimate sport. Even golf.

    Yea I know that but the grand grand grand majority of the guns you encounter in the game are of Eastern Origin and the way the western weapons were incorporated made complete sense. The only reason the Western Weapons were there was because international mercenaries had vested interest in going inside the zone. Sigh I miss stalker :/

    Yup Dayz has a golden opportunity to not follow the mold of 99 percent of games out in the market. They have a chance to create a game with a roster of weapons that is not only authentic to the region it is based on Eastern Europe but at the same time feature a more low tech , simplified weapon set that would do nothing but good for the game. It has a chance to create a gritty, realistic survival zombie game let's just hope they don't follow he trend that countless games do and start incorporating obscure, rare , new production tactical weapons in mass. Keeping the guns believable helps make the game immersive. Imagine how S.T.A.L.K.E.R would have felt if every single gun was a western rifle and if the Ex Soviet Nation weapons were not the most common guns in the game. This is why I think ignoring Western guns all together for now and instead incorporating a steady selection of not only Eastern Civilian rifles but Military ex soviet rifles is best for the game. Ideally for me the m4 would be the top end gun western gun in the game a gun that offers the most modularity and if it has it real life attributes has amazing firepower.

    Thats an entirely different issue. The damage system is broken and it affects all guns in the game it is only that the mosins slow rate of fire makes it more obvious. Just take the m4 do you honestly think they plan to have the m4 take 7 shots to kill a person or that the sks take 4 or 5 shots sometimes? The item damage mechanic broke the damage system so eventually the damage values will be fixed.

    Yea I would love for the mosin to lose the compensator and instead get the LRS removed and its accuracy changed to a more realistic number. While I can't get a proper comparison between a cz 527 and a mosin I can tell you the cz 527 will always be more accurate. I would love for rings to be required to be found before you can mount any optics. This will keep optics from being found on every single weapon a player comes across. Among all the things in the game I believe it would be best for gameplay to have optics be the absolute rarest things to find I am throwing hunting scopes, tactical long range scopes, magnified optics such as the pso and the acog into that category. The harder it is to not only find but mount these things on the games weapons the better gameplay will be.
  22. It could be a mandatory thing for some servers. It would kick you out if you do not activate it and connect to the right teamspeak server. Could work like a premium feature.

    I always just made a leap of faith when it comes to the mounts. I see it in easier terms. If the gun drilled and tapped for rails or is purpose built from the factory to not make mounting optics hard then I always just assume they should work. Hence why I see the b95 and other rifles as platforms for the lrs to work on. The mosin along with a few other weapons in the game would not fall into this category due to having to do some machining to mount a non scout mount short eye relief scope. Correct me if I am wrong but arent both the cz 527, b95 and the rugger 10/22 all grooved for scope rings making mounting a scope even easier ?

    sway was only recently added. Before the player would hold the rifle like a robot no sway no breathing at all. I think it would be very reasonable to expect weapon resting and bipod deployment in the future especially now that we have a cool sway mechanic to contend with.
