    Sniping is a cowards technique?

Sniping has always been for cowards. Nothing wrong with the act of sniping though only how insanely easy it is in dayz and vanilla Arma.
  2. The other big bonus of a free aim system is how it affects behavior. Because of free aim in RO2 you almost never encounter unrealistic shooting scenarios where a player fires from the hip while strafing side to side as fast he could. The free aim subconsciously makes you fire from static positions with very little unintended movement in order to maximize your accuracy. The shooting just feels perfect with forced free aim in RO2. .
  3. Nothing. What is the point of barricading or even base building if your character vanishes into thin air when you log off. Rust approach of a single character per server + in game sleeping when not playing would work with barricading and base building. Without those two things there is little incentive to barricading or base building outside of perhaps storing loot and even then you would probably have your most valuable loot with you thus safe from base raiding.
  4. If they add helicopters and this is only if. I personally would hope to not see any air vehicles but thats besides the point. If they have to add helicopters I would hope they at the very least adopt the awesome new hard mode flying mechanics from Arma 3s dev branch. They are awesome and great and actually require people to practice to get proficient at flying. It is nice to see BI adding depth and complexity to alot of the gameplay elements , Stamina first, weapon dexterity, new sway, new helicopter controls and flight dynamics, and hopefully with the marksmen dlc realistic sniping and shooting mechanics.
  5. It's a video game. Just like hunger some things need to be extremely exaggerated due to the time constraints of a players in game life. What fun would it be if you only needed to eat once and were good for the next week.
  6. Respawn option should be removed completely once the game is out of alpha.
  7. My view on Stalker might be skewd due to never having played it without mods. I played it with the misery mod and from what I remember western guns were rare and the grand majority of the weapons were eastern.
  8. I would love the stalker approach to the weapons. Any non native weapon is regulated using the global loot system. With some weapons spawning only a few dozen at a time. Western weapons heavily regulated and thus made rare and Eastern origin guns and ammo made far more abundant. The main thing that should be regulated by the new hive system though is optics. All optics should be controlled even red dot sights should be made rare and any magnified scopes should heavily restricted to be made really rare and valuable.

Because, quite frankly, military simulations are fucking boring. I gotta ask then why would you buy dayz then ? You understood the lineage and the history of not only dayz the mod but the developer right ? You did realize that they specialize in making military sims and dayz even if it tried to be arcadey would retain much of that lineage and past experience. Even if Dayz tried not to be a military simulator in the end it will still feel close to one.

What difference does it make the speed is the same and the only reason I recorded it 3rd person view was so you can easily visualize that the speed is perfectly fine.

Ballistic Vest - What Should It Do?

I like the idea of body armor only being storage. One of the reasons the mod had so much tension and appeal was that the player was always vulnerable regardless of how much time or what equipment he had. The fully kitted out player with all of the fancy gear and items was just as vulnerable as a fresh spawn. This created so much anxiety in players and having items mitigate damage is a bad move imo atleast for gameplay. If they do ballistic vest in a realistic way then we would lose this great aspect of the mod and there would be cases of fully kitted out people having an advantage on poorly armed people.

I agree its a little too fast when the weapon is lowered and it even looks comical looks like the character is skipping or has to poop.

Yes as slow as a snail indeed .... /s The strafe speed is perfect in this gif. It is not natural to move quickly side to side. mechanically speaking its not natural to move in that manner thus when we must we do so with lower speed and caution.

    This is just unplayable now

    EXP or stable ?

That quote is refreshing. Glad to see realism will play a major role when it comes to movement.

You don't need to be involved in a firefight to know how the human body functions and what movement is realistic or not. Peoeple simply do not strafe or move like they do in first person shooters. The simple act of moving side ways is unnatural.

Strafing is not that bad it is perfectly useable , the peeking needs work I feel almost like you should be able to peek a little further. The running uphill problem is merely because there is no transition between full speed sprinting and walking, the times where you begin to walk is when the incline of the hill is insane. They need a transition animation between walking and sprinting so that you still struggle to go up inclines but arent left with a weird walking animation. The speed that you travel on in steep inclines is perfectly fine.

I think part of the problem is people are comparing the movement in dayz to games in completely different genres. Dayz is not like those games nor is it like 99 percent of the games out in the market. It would probably be best to compare dayz movement to tactical military simulators but sadly there are very few to compare to.

From OP. While I said 20 mph it is slightly lower since the run speed is currently 30 km/h and that translates to 18.6 mph thats Road bike speeds btw. Later on from op again. Both the things I mentioned were talked about in the thread.

Insurgency has alot of good things concerning aiming and aiming. The forced free aim for every player is terrific the weight system controlling speed is good so is the stamina bar. However the game is still an arcade tactical shooter it is not a sim and thus the movement feels very very unrealistic due to the lack of weight when moving.

It ran at like 30 to 45 fps but the resolution was so low on my CRt monitor that it worked fine. That was my old monitor when I was 10 or 11. Old HP MX 50 and yea It's hilarious that alot of peoples first video card was a Riva TNT 2. As for the movement system it needs to be realistic and mirror real life. People seem to confuse fluid smooth movement with arcade movement from arena shooters or tactical arcade games like counter strike. Dayz needs to remain a sim and with that it needs realistic movement, no silly sprinting up steep inclines, no strafing at 20 mph none of the goofy stuff.

Play time should not mean diddily squat. Also if you really want to judge me then judge me by the first Bohemia Interactive game I played. I was 11 years old playing operation flashpoint on my very very old HP computer with a tiny riva TNT 2 32 mb video card inside. So if you are trying to call me a newbie I am anything but that. I was probably loading up godzilla and t800 addons in Operation Flashpoint long before you probably even heard of BI.

    CZ527 rifle

Of course but nothing is wrong with it not having one either. It has built in iron sights for a reason it works fine without a scope as a nifty lightweight short barreled brush gun. Looks perfect for hog hunting.

You should change the thread tittle to how to turn the game into unreal tournament or counter strike.
