Mosin-Nagant "Obrez" Modification? [Torchia Tweet]
gibonez replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
No mosin bolt is smooth like butter. You could have the "smoothest" mosin bolt and it still sucks. -
Dayz Standalone is lacking a huge core piece in my eyes.

Mine craft has no objectives or an end game. The other two are single player games. -
What Weapons Warrant Being Hyper-Rare and/or Regulated?
gibonez replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
I really hope this system pulls through. The gameplay potential sounds fantastic. Not only for public servers but perhaps for private hives being able to set up their own system also. -
What are good game mechanics/ features from other games that work in dayz ?
gibonez replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
Counter strike Yes even a twitch shooter like counter strike go has some features or visual aides that would fit right in with dayz. #1. Firearm smoke In standalone firing your weapon produces huge plums of unrealistic smoke that not only hurts the shooter in performing follow up shots but also looks quite bad visually. Counter Strike go handles firearm smoke in visually appealing manner that not only looks amazing but is also subtle and does not hurt the shooting player for quick follow up shots. The nice stream of smoke emanating from the barrel looks great. #2. Bullet penetration player visual feedback While Dayz also features bullet penetration it currently provides zero feed back to the player as to what direction the rounds are penetrating in a building thus the player cannot adjust his position to thwart the threat or minimize the damage received. Counter Strike go handles this in a very subtle manner and provides the player with very quick visual feed back that instantly tells the player what direction the rounds are penetrating and they can then make a judgment on how to move within the structure or behind the wall to best avoid the next volley of incoming rounds. as you can see the incoming rounds in CS go produce small decals on the interior of the building and a faint trail of smoke that could be explained as the bullets force pulling drywall powder or dust with it. The effect is very subtle and instantly provides the player visual feedback It is quite nice. -
Some of you will be so disappointed when cars are added, you will find they add very little to the game unless other elements like stamina and weight get fleshed out.

The lr actually stands for long rifle and this was only added in to seperate it from other .22 caliber bullets at the time such as the .22 short , 22 win, 22 win mag. Yea i do agree though the .22lr can reach out to some distance and if by long range you consider 500 yards then yes it can go out that far and with a good rifle and shoot hit consistently given he knows his dope for the rifle and load he is firing. The wind will be moving the round all over the place but even at this range the .22lr still has the energy to penetrate the skull and or penetrate the chest of a person and piercing the heart.

Server hoppers complained, devs catered.

Some of the mental gymnastics people are having to resort to in order to justify super common loot is hilarious. One simply has to ask themselves if the world ended how long do you honestly think stuff would be available for ? Things even cans of food would be extremely rare, guns would be in disrepair and even less common.
-
One character per server please.
-
Naw its a good move. They should just focus on making one coherent game mode that is the same regardless of the perspective. You also risk alienating people who only want to play regular but hate the corner peeking and wall cheating that is rampant in 3rd person view.
-
Wish it was forced rendered like Rust now is . Before you could not render the Grass in rust in order to gain an advantage. Through technical trickery you can no longer do this on the EXP servers yet you lose almost no performance with the grass.
-
Let's hope all the public servers turn into these private shards. Right away, server hopping and ghosting would be gone. combat logging would also be diminished.
-
It is simply an angular form of measurement. The best way to visualize it is a cone where the gunfire spreads and it is roughly equivalent to 1 inch at 100 yards. So if the shotgun is 30 moa for instance its spread of fire would be no larger than 30 inches at 100 yards.

Mosin-Nagant "Obrez" Modification? [Torchia Tweet]
gibonez replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
I could envision the Sporter 22, side by side shotgun, and a bare bones mosin with no accessories being the most common rifles in the game. Followed by mid tier gear such as the pump shotgun, lever action rifle, and sks then high end gear of course being the m4 , akm and ak101. That would work and would fit the whole dire state of the world and the need for surival where even a .22 lr rifle is a great find. -
What Weapons Warrant Being Hyper-Rare and/or Regulated?
gibonez replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Nothing seems to suggest that thus far. Most of the weapons are civilian weapons and more importantly they are weapons that are plausible in a zombie SHTF scenario. I mean the next weapons we will be getting are a chopped up mosin nagant , a lever action rifle and a pump shotgun. Nothing over the top military there thankfully. -
It appears the firearms have been adjusted in EXP does this mean the dispersion and accessory mechanic is gone ? Report your findings here.
-
Yea that should hopefully be fixed. When you hold your breath it should hold where it was before not at some predetermined location that you then have to adjust to.

What clothing set/weapons would you add if you could?
gibonez replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
The clothing department thus far is kinda lacking and imo far too military focused. Take any legit post apocalyptic movie, tv show or graphic novel and the clothing is by far civilian focused. I am hoping the clothing has that dirty, civilian, rag tag look of popular post apocalyptic media. More of this. Little to none of this -
So whats every one gonna build/fortify when all that gets added?
gibonez replied to Sirwarriant12's topic in General Discussion
If you are refering to spawn points for a fresh spawn then they could simply do what they did in the mod with loot. When a player spawns in remove any barricades or items near the spawning player so that he is not trapped inside anywhere. However if the player is merely logging in and is barricaded nothing should be done . -
Mosin-Nagant "Obrez" Modification? [Torchia Tweet]
gibonez replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Something as simple as having the weapon bump and interact with the environment would make this a very viable option for room clearing. What good would a almost 6 foot long mosin be if it bumps into the walls when clearing a house. The obrez would be a good solution to this especially if they make everything far more rare to the point where finding an sks is like hitting the jack pot. -

You forgot the most reasonable one and the one that is both least likely to happen yet makes the most sense. One character per server + having the character sleep when logged off. -
Mosin-Nagant "Obrez" Modification? [Torchia Tweet]
gibonez replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
This is not a heavily tooled thing. Basically take any hacksaw and just chop away. Meanwhile mounting a LRS would require some relatively complex machining. I am nervous about even installing my own iron sights on my handguns and give them over to my local gunsmith to install big dots on them I wouldn't even dare try to drill and tap a mosin. Making an obrez is basically taking a hacksaw and just cutting a portion of it 0 skill required. Also didn't the obrez have a big history in Soviet russia ? -

Yes more Eastern weapons . -
Yup , hence the reason they are so against the global loot control system.
