What "End Game Gear" Should Theoretically Be Like At Release
gibonez replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
Well of course they could start with 7.62 being separated. Then of course they can rename the ak 101 to 74 and add 5.45. -

I think given time they will fix the calibers. The game is still pretty incomplete and I would imagine the caliber fiasco is not something that has top priority right now especially when so many of the core features of the engine are not implemented or downright not working. We will see when the beta comes out how streamlined the game aims to be. -

Dayz might be one of the few instances where the more complex it gets the better the experience is. -
The gameplay bonuses such a system would bring to the game are far too great to ignore. Something like this would fundamentally change how the player interaction and gameplay flows. People will engage at closer distances, attempt to rob people more and snipers will become rarer as they should it is something that requires skill and is not really accessible.

Great video detailing how advanced the ballistics are. Wind actually being affected by the terrain being stronger in some parts weaker in others depending on the topography.

The best answer is do some research as to what is out there and only get the best pc you can afford.

Here is a possible solution to stop server hopping. When you log off if you rejoin the same server you spawn exactly where you logged off at. If you join a new server you spawn anywhere randomly in a 1000m circle of where you logged off. While this does not completely stop the hopping it would slow it down and introduce more risk.

What "End Game Gear" Should Theoretically Be Like At Release
gibonez replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
What if the ak , m4 and ak 101 are the very best you can get when the game is finished ? Would that not qualify as end game gear then ? What if resources were very limited in SA when the game was finished and was not like Epoch , breaking point and overpoch where the map is full of high end military firearms from all over the globe for some reason ? Can you now see how a simple assault rifle that you struggle to even find ammo for is now considered end game gear. -

There is still plenty of time for the caliber situation to change tbh. If the rumors from Pax are true the upcoming M1 garand will be a big test and will give us some indication as to what to expect in the future. We will see if .30-06 makes it into the game or if the m1 garand follows the trend and is just given 7.62x51 under the bullshit excuse that it is re chambered or that its the Danish version of the m1 garand or any other countless silly reasons. For now though we just wait and see. -
Doesn't matter really. Vehicles will be introduced but if they are anything like the Vanilla mod they will be so rare that you will not really encounter them often. They will honestly have very little impact on the game.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
gibonez replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
They are meant as survival rifles. The .410 combo in particular would allow hunting anything from deer with .410 slugs all the way down to small game with the .22lr. Not sure how popular these things are I just know that they are relatively popular amongst those weirdo preppers. -

Stalker to the best of my knowledge has never been known for realism. The franchise was always known for creating a very unique and immersive setting and boy does it do that. Dayz however rides on the coat tails of Arma 2 and more importantly is a BI game a developer known for realism. So you can understand why some would come to expect that out of dayz. Played it quite recently so to be honest I can't tell you if the controllers were nerfed or not. The game was hard but I did manage to beat it. Misery did get a huge update after I beat it though so you might want to check it out. -
True but the great thing is Dayz will be modable so at the end of the day you always have a choice as to how you want to play it. Zombies or no zombies . Helicopters or no helicopters. Pink flying schoolbuses or no pink flying schoolbuses The mod community is great and they will always come up with fun mods.

I never said Misery was realistic. I was just suggested it for those who are about to or will play stalker. It is a much harder experience and has lots of extra features. I really don't know how realistic it is or not Its simply just a really well and put together mod. -
Zombies don't add anything to my dayz games. They are just a janky source of frustration. Once no zombie servers start to pop up or maybe even a server option for vanilla I would gladly join those. + better frame rate + less jank What is there not to like.

Shooting from vehicles is coming to arma 3 in an upcoming update. That might suggest dayz eventually gets the same treatment.

Once DayZ is complete; Will it require studying?
gibonez replied to Act III's topic in General Discussion
One has to ask themselves. Do you wan't dayz to be a simple and easy game or do they want depth and complexity in dayz. Would you like the regular easy mode sniping in dayz or would you like this ? One makes it so a 12 year can headshot you within seconds of seeing you from 1400m. The other requires you use your past game experience and real world knowledge some simple math skills to set up dope for your rifle. -
The author of the mod just updated it and man its so much better. Here are some awesome example videos of how complex and wonderful the ballistic model is. This would automatically balance sniping as it would now be an art not the easiest way to kill like it is currently in dayz.

It is not so much that it is absolutely necessary it is that it should have taken precedent over 5.56 nato, 7.62x51,and countless other western calibers that make far less sense. Eastern Setting thus Eastern Calibers would make sense no ? BTW guys don't play vanilla Stalker. Play this. -
I am suggesting that the Eastern and Russian gun Calibers be reskined to Steel lacquered cases in order to end confusion amongst the casuals. Ideally the western calibers should all be brass cased and eastern calibers be steel cased to make them easier to identify. 7.62x51 nato 7.62x54r A new player would associate the color of the ammo and quickly determine what type of ammo it is. This would also allow for the possibility of new ammo types to be added to the game with less chance of confusion. vs

Yup no helicopters unless they have the super hard and complex flight model from exp on Arma 3 and even then maybe 3 or 4 in the hive total. Ideally no helos at all though.

gibonez replied to Act III's topic in General Discussion
Depth and complexity is always good. Having some aspects of the game take lots of practice and outside research would be a welcomed addition. While the menus , inventory and basic functions must be intutitive. Complicated aspects such as long range shooting, explosive making and or deployment, indirect fire, vehicle repair and maintenance must not be as easy as pick up and play. They should require experience, practice and outside study. Having to study to learn and master some aspects of the game is a bonus not a negative. It would mean the game is full of depth and rich gameplay opportunities. -
Whats wrong with a large list of varied Rifle and pistol rounds ? It would improve the game by having a large variety of different guns with different ballistics in addition to making the scavenging aspect of the game better due to the lower likelihood of having ammo for your specific weapon.
-
Of course they will keep it. It might not be finished or fully implemented but survival aspects will be an important thing if not the most important aspect in the game. Disease, proper Nutrition , hyper and hypothermia, foot care and hopefully in the future defecation will all play a role to keeping your character nice and healthy. All of these combined with a good stamina and weight system will make the game extremely hard and change the game completely. These are all good changes that are badly needed.

Sounds like a fantastic change. So dayz might not just be a brainless pvp fest. There might be more survival to worry about then huh. Great.
