    SVD is confirmed, The SVT would be a welcomed gun a good mid tier battle rifle after the m1 garand and sks.

    This is why I like the RUST approach. One server one life. You log off you don't leave the server you merely go to sleep.

    Well even compared to the m14 the m1 garand was manufactured in much much much higher numbers so wouldn't it make more sense to find it over an m14 ? I mean the m14 had a service life of what ? less than 5 years ? compared to the m1 garand produced in the millions while millions were also gifted to everyone from South Korea to Israel.

    I will say one thing however. I really hope they do justice to the guns rear sights. The rear pep sight is amazing for medium to long distance precision shots.

    I understand that millions of garands have been manufactured, of which Sprinfield Armory alone made over 3 million. Even with that said its unlikely to see it in Eastern Europe but you know what ? It's ok because the m1 garand would fit the aesthetics of the game just fine. The rifle would also open the gates for more civilian hunting rifles in .30-06.
  7. I would love something like this. A complete overhaul of the animations would be fantastic and a civilian focused stance system would also be a welcomed addition. Meaning none of the military stances like urban prone etc.
  8. That is what I envision being part of the problem. I believe in arma 3 body armor is applied to even the extremities.
  9. Advantages offensively not defensively. A fully kitted out player was just as vulnerable to a makarov as was a fresh spawn. Everyone had the same damage mitigation, everyone had the same health. Body armor will change that and I personally am not so sure that is a good thing.
  10. I am not viewing this from a standpoint of balance. I am viewing this from the mods standpoint. I just can't help but feel that with the introduction of any sort of clothing or object that negates damage you will lose one of the core rules of the mod.

    Yes!!. Shotguns need to be far more prevalent and should come in more varieties. I would love to see shotguns with different chokes a hunting water fowl shotgun would also be fantastic. As for a general overview of the weapons, I think they should flesh out the lower end of the spectrum in the firearms front. More .22lr rifles, hunting bolt action rifles, more revolvers, military surplus weapons etc. Fleshing out the low end will better allow them to balance out the high end and give them a bench mark of just how high end will be appropriate.
  12. Then don't make the animations look artificially civilian then. There are tons of walking animations that don't look ripped out of a military shooter. There are dozens of ways to hold a pistol, rifle and any weapon in the game that do not look military trained. I am not saying the current animations are overly military in style but they do give off a hint of a military trained character something that should not the case.

  14. Unless of course you have none of those options since this is of course a survival game. This is not about whether you can or not kill someone with a plate carrier or body armor. This is about the big question of should the game make highly looted players be able to absorb more damage than a fresh spawn especially when this was one of the core gameplay aspects of the mod. Everyone being equally vulnerable was one of the core gameplay aspects that might be gone from standalone.
  15. Yea thats what I envision happening with the plate carriers. I see situations where military rifles and weapons are made rare and then you have groups of players with plate carriers roaming with impunity not afraid of any of the civilian armed players. Taking 6 hits with zero effect , zero blood loss, zero shock damage. If I had it my way no item in the game would provide protection to the player to ensure everyone is equally vulnerable. This goes for ballistic helmets also. Ideally a fresh spawn would be just as vulnerable to gunfire as a veteran player with all of the high end gear .
  16. I thought those animations you are referring to were attributed to hurt and injured states that happen to not be in game yet.
  17. I will conceed that it is perhaps unrealistic to have plate carriers only be completely cosmetic. What about restricting the in game vest to soft body armor instead in order to avoid the Arma 3 fiasco with people being annoyed at the ridiculous damage values. Limiting the ballistic vests in game to only Type 2 would work. Essentially it would mitigate damage caused by anything smaller than .357 magnum but any rifle will penetrate it with ease.
  18. I am sure something like that is coming. I would imagine the animations will get redone also to make the characters not move and look so military trained.

    I thought they already stated it was an impossibility to have rifles or weapons with multiple calibers. Also why I would imagine there are no combo guns yet.
  20. I absolutely love the 9x39 caliber not because it is distinctly Russian or anything like that. I love it because of its very unique properties. It has a maximum effective range of only 400m it is very hard hitting due to its high mass and weight 260 grain bullet. The 9x39 along with the weapons in this caliber would all be super awesome high end military loot due to their function and their very unique ballistics. The SV 98 is also the perfect weapon to fit into the sniper role for high end sniper loot also.

    I very much like the idea of certain weapons being the only way to procure optics from. The SVD is a prime example. Having the SVD have 2 spawn types one with optics and one without while at the same time removing any pso scopes from spawning in the game world would do wonders to making optics rare. This would of course not restrict the player freedom in any way they can remove the optics from an svd and put them on an akm if they wish. Also love the 2 guns you posted in the picture. The bren I actually would love in the game its ultra modern sure but it would fit the lore if the game does indeed take inspiration from the CZech republic.

    I say let the small arms take a back seat. Focus on Explosives, bobby traps and incorporating the grenade launchers. As for firearms everything seems to be covered mostly. Only things perhaps missing are a semi auto shotgun a perfect place for a waterfowl shotgun with a small magazine capacity to fit in. There is no dedicated sniper rifle yet but I would think a civilian sniper rifle would fit right in this role something a remington 700 would be perfect at. A LMG is missing but that will surely eventually come. The other thing that they can do is further flesh out the low end of the spectrum of weapons. .22lr could use some love with a .22lr revolver, a tubular pump action rifle and a bolt action .22lr

    Item Tetris is it worth it ?

    I rather have an ACE mod inventory system. Where items take up volume and you are not so much restricted by the items size but more importantly by weight. Nothing stops you from carrying 200KG of weapons and ammo just good luck sprinting more than 30 feet before you pass out from exhaustion.
  25. It does not necessarily have to mean different weapons from the other military spawns. It is so far up that the remoteness alone should be the main incentive of going there vs the other military loot spawns. Looting that far north should be safer.
