Civilian focus is great in stand alone. Devs have done a good job thus far limiting the military weapons to plausible weapons for the region. As it stands now though there are too many military clothing options. Going to a military base should not guarantee loot. Military loot in general should be made far rarer.

Some movement mechanics need a major tweak (before 1.0)
gibonez replied to Ugly (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
The only way movement should be headed is realism. Stamina Weight Momentum Realistic movement speed -
A small 60 or even 81 mms mortar would be fine in dayz so long as some things are done. No stupid artillery computer like in arma Copy ace mods artillery aka real life artillery Weight and stamina system Problem solved with ace mortars there will be only a handful of people who know how to use them. In ace mod the most hardcore of the hardcore played and even then most servers had maybe 1 person who knew how to the the mortars. Ace mod mortars would be great in dayz mostly for defensive reasons with stamina and weight you won't be lugging it around unless you have a truck.

Incapacitation/ Kinectic knockdown discussion
gibonez replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
Yup the force of the bullet is not strong enough to physically knock a person offs his feet. Yet there are tons of instances of people having that happen. While I suspect this is mostly due to psychological aspects of receiving an unexpected gunshot it does happen and happens incredibly often in combat footage. -
Incapacitation/ Kinectic knockdown discussion
gibonez replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
Yes you are right but none of those would kill instantly like the current death mechanics. All those shots including the heart shot would not be instant deaths the person would die from blood loss extremely fast deaths yes but not instant like the current you are dead screen. -
Basically this ? http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/189882-incapacitation-kinectic-knockdown-discussion/?fromsearch=1

Tbh the xray exploit has been discussed many a time and the simple fact is a lot of players like the ability to see through walls... Wall peeking should hopefully be treated like any other exploit in the game. Fixed and or given a workaround
-
Yup all in favor for the devs to tweak the camera in order to ensure that peeking is impossible or at least vastly reduced. This way people keep the perspective they enjoy and at the same time remove peeking what I believe is the single biggest game breaking in game aspect. Everyone wins and the progress done to the camera can then be integrated into arma 3

Remove random laughing as a side effect for cannibalism please.
gibonez replied to Jhunt7507's topic in Suggestions
Truth is they should push kuru right now is the best time to test new features. Test it if it works keep it. If not why not try my much harsher idea of having cannibals no longer able to eat regular food due to having an acquire taste for human flesh -
Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
gibonez replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
If course combat and PvP is a small part of the game but PvP being as fair as possible is especially important due to the cost of death in the game. In a game where when you die you have to start over again from scratch don't you think that every possible measure should be taken in order to ensure that the player died due to another player being more skilled and or lucky? With the peeking in place getting killed by a player using these tactics is no better then the player who goes inside walls out the guy who looks at walls at the right angle in order to see through them. All of those situations are the result of exploits that should not be hurting gameplay especially dayz. I suppose wall peeking would be fine in a game where life has little value such as cod or battlefield but even they don't make that mistake. -
No you said it will either give an accurate reading or no reading at all and that is completely wrong. It will give you readings all day at a wide range of ranges. It just won't be accurate at all if It is a crappy range finder like the one in game. I'm not sure why you mentioned the devs since I'm specifically talking about real life and how real life range finder performance would avenue in game.

Yup yup stamina and realistic movement please

Doesn't matter you should always band zero I mean zero control of where you spawn. So much of the game's appeal is completely dependant on this.

shemagh: why and an easy way to implement it
gibonez replied to stielhandgranate's topic in Suggestions
It certainly should make the zombies smell you easier. As for the scarf thing are they common in rural Russia? If not don't add it. -

They would probably use the good ol Naw Brah this here a game too much realisms ruins fun even though bohemia interactive makes sims. I want to keep mah wall peeking, xray building vision and tour de France cyclist race speed cause I don't have 20 hours of day to play and don't want to spend 10 minutes to run to ma friends. Did I cover all of the common excuses? -
Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
gibonez replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
It's not that simple of the issues. Many of those who enjoy third person do not like the way the camera is implemented. Of those I bet allot don't like how the birds eye view allows for bad gameplay and wall peeking. It's not as easy as play mode a or play mode b. It's about let's take a look at the current camera how it affects gameplay and what improvements can be done to minimize or possibly eliminate the negatives like peeking. -

gibonez replied to Jhunt7507's topic in Suggestions
It's not that at all with me. I just see it a silly artificial balance attempt. Far better one would be to force would be cannibals to only eat human meat one they have consumed some. Imagine the desperation of cannibals when they are hungry but eating regular food causes the player to vomit losing hydration and adding to the hunger. This in my opinion would be a far better balance mechanic since it is far harsher and really would dictate how people play. Cheesy negatives like laughing and shaking randomly is the wrong approach. -
Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
gibonez replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
It really has nothing to do with preference. It's about finding a fix to wall peeking and exploits that negatively affect gameplay due to the camera poor position. Yes believe it or not there can be a fix where people keep third person view and at the same time wall peeking and seeing through walls using the view is nearly impossible. -
Nope that's not how things work. There is a reason why 15 k dollar vector 21s can range 10k meters plus with perfect accuracy meanwhile 1000 dollar civilian ones struggle to get accurate readings at what they are marketed for. Best way to describe it is think of a laser beam that shoots out as an angle at close range it's small thus very visible but the further out it spreads out this Is the main reason why they struggle. I've used a vortex and it's rated for 1000 yards unless you aimed at something dark and solid it struggled with 800 yards. Meanwhile military grade ones don't struggle at all. Don't believe me look up reviews for the Bushnell yardage pro 450 and look at what ranges they struggle at.
-
Not entirely sure either but say there is an instance where certain weapons are all ultra rare and you never see them it's not the end of the world. In fact don't you think those situations would be good? It would give those weapons and items added value and increase their value.
-
Only if they have unlimited stamina and run at 30 km/h

Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
gibonez replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
It won't be so bad you shouldn't be shooting in third person anyway. As for difficulty to add at best a simple camera change would fix it at worst a little bit of code trickery that would be nowhere near as difficult as you think. Either way the benefit of fixing the crutch and thus fixing gameplay far outweigh the work required. -
No it's fine. Just not realistic. Real post apocalyptic scenario happens people will continue to wear comfortable civilian clothing not run to the nearest military base to get done sweet gi Joe gear
