The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
gibonez replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
Yes any bolt action 22lr would be great although I would prefer a internal magazine version making it more viable. Yup i wonder if they are going with the stainless steel version to set it apart from other bolt guns in the game. Really hoping the alaskan is quite accurate it has a thick barrel and the 25 inches should generate some good velocity out of the .30-06 rounds. Hopefully the mosin is then given accuracy closer to what it can do in real life aka not landing 1000m shots. -
No what I am suggesting is that the longer you hold a weapon up after pressing space and including when you aim down the sights the more tired your arms get and begin to shake this happens in real life especially with heavy firearms. I am talking about after like 20 seconds or so. It's a good change that would have the game look far more realistic since everyone would not run around with their weapon raised

Quite glad to see so much support for some type of stamina/realistic movement speed/weight based overhaul of the current gotta go fast movement.
-
lol at 5 to 6 hours of holding your rifle up you would be in the floor in pain from muscle spasms. The fatigue is no different than what happens when you hold out a light book with your arms spread, the weight is easy to manage at first but the lactic acid begins to build in your arms and begins to burn.

.... I have shot them garbage rifles but fun nontheless. Where does this thought that a 100 year old military surplus rifle that was mass produced in the millions would be precision rifles especially when using bad quality ammo. Say you do find a perfect preserved example of a mosin , flawless bore, perfect crown , unusually crisp trigger. Even then the ammo is of such various degrees of quality that any precision work would be immediately negated. All I am saying is the VAST majority of mosins are not accurate by any means in fact it should probably be the least accurate rifle in game . The #1 thing needed to be accurate is consistency and mosins are anything but.
-
Yea good enough back in 1944 and during ww2. Not good enough today. Age takes its toll on equipment add to this the poor quality and more importantly inconsistency of military surplus ammo and you have one inaccurate rifle in the mosin. Mosin should be shooting 5 inch patterns at 100 m. Nope mosins have never been known for their accuracy never I repeat never. The most remarkable trait of a mosin is its reliability its extremely rugged. The most remarkable contemporary thing the mosin is known for is for being a cheap ass hell rifle to buy and shoot with the super low prices of 7.62x54r. No off the racks mosin will be hitting anything at 500 or 1000m atleast not consistently just about any new production hunting rifle will outshoot that mosin. In fact the amount of work to get a mosin to even match the accuracy of a new modern production bolt gun is not even worth the trouble.

Yea the 375 H&H is great and would be good due to its unique ballistics. It's more of a heavy hitting short to medium range caliber with a heavy ballistic curve. Similar to the 9.3x62
-
Yes the first hint that the lrs is placeholder for me is the reticle . You wouldn't find a duplex reticle on what looks like a high end scope. Really hoping the mosin becomes the low end inaccurate rifle in the game. The pu scope should be removed from the sks too.
-
Winchester model 70 , cz 550 or Remington 700 would all be formidable hunting rifles fitting the long range role. Hope they go with a common hunting caliber like .30-06 and not something silly like .338 lapua.
-
Sounds unrealistic as can be. "Insert book to chest piercing damage +1 slashing cabbage -3"
-
This aspect ratio is the future.
-
It works fine. Just give it a chance

The original ak74 did not have a side rail. That was later introduced in a specialized ak74 model for mounted night optics. All ak74m do have a side rail. Sure while the changes above would remove some of the modularity you would find that as you move up the list each would have more and more modularity thus creating a hierarchy. Akm : no modularity Ak74 : rpk mags, stocks and hand guards Aks74u : rpk mags , silencers Ak74m : all ak family modularity Creates a good hierarchy and linear progression in the current assault rifles. Not to mention allows 556 to only be a helicopter spawn and consolidates ak magazines.
-
When both the akm and ak74 have only iron sights and you notice your akm shots are hitting the dirt at medium range meanwhile the ak74 zips right to target people will see the difference. I will say however you people are completely right on rarity the vanilla ak74 should be far more common than the akm. This opens the door for civilian 7.62x39 spawns helping both the Cz and sks. Not to mention the akm should no longer be issued for quite a few decades. As for the mosin it is set to lose the lrs. That alone will remove some of it's appeal. Combine that with the proper inaccuracy of most surplus mosins and the tack driving cz with a proper optic becomes the new favorite precision rifle.

Fine say the akm in game is of Soviet origin it still would not have a side rail.Only the akml got a side rail and those were not common at all. It would be better for gameplay by setting up a hierarchy when it comes to the eastern weapons. Not to mention fixing the ammo issue by consolidating the magazines for the ak74 and keeping 556 NATO as a western caliber. Not to mention having a high tier eastern rifle that takes all eastern attachments in the form of the ak74m. The changes I suggest make sense in every conceivable way.

Any of you guys wonder what time period dayz is in.
gibonez replied to Azzerrrr's topic in General Discussion
It has long been known. Shame too a cold war setting could have been fantastic and original. -
Sway is fine. The end result is player accuracy in game is closer to what is seen in real life.
-
There are more akm models without the rail than there are with it. The akm did not get a side rail mount until the akml. The most mass produced akm probably the norinco type 56 has no side rail. The Romanian akm has no rail. The Yugoslav akm did not get a side mount until the m70b1n. The original ak74 the one in game does not have a side rail. That did not come until the ak74n. Each ak74m does however have a side rail. The changes I suggested are not only realistic but better for gameplay.
-
Yup. The only thing keeping the cz down is the magazine issues and the lack of realistic accessories for it like scopes. Not to mention for overly accurate the akm seems in game in comparison to real life.
-
With realistic attributes to the weapons and lack of modularity the akm would be inferior to the ak74 in every way.The ballistics would be key to this. The dramatic ballistic curve of the akm would result in limited appeal over 300m. Not to mention it is way too accurate in game. The flatter trajectory , better wound profile of 5.45 and accuracy of the ak74 would put it above the akm. Btw tons of akms do not have dude rails for mounting optics. For example Romanian and Chinese akms do not have side rails. The Chinese akm US probably the most mass produced of all stamped akms

This would certainly be one good way to stop server hoppers. Maybe it's a new feature
-
Heh looks so dangerous. This looks like something that would be great in a game like rust as a mountable weapon or siege engine. Dayz I don't know.
-
Absolutely cost and more importantly plausibility should be of utmost importance when considering weapons and calibers. .338 lapua would be downright idiotic considering the setting.
