    rethinking the ak family

Afaik the akm hand guards have a tiny u shaped notch that is missing on the ak74 family.
  2. Knew threads like this would start popping up once things got rare. Hopefully the devs see how people are in favor of true scarcity and do everything they can to keep it that way

    Netting and ghillie crafting

Glad to see the items required for making a ghillie are far harder to obtain. Ghillies should be a rare sight I mean really rare sight.
  4. I browsed through the tread and have not found any mention of Military training rifles. These are essentially super accurate military issued .22lr bolt action rifles that are used for training and would be super useful in dayz for small game hunting and for quiet headshot machines at short and long range. Here are a few rifles that fit this category of bolt action .22lr military issued training rifles. Cz 455 Military Training rifle Romanian m69 training rifles Polish Wz-48 .22LR training rifle SV 99 Unique rifle created by the Russian Military after discovering the Chechens were using silenced .22lr rifles to great success against Russian troops in Urban warfare. Comes silenced, great accuracy and has an internal magazine.

    Open inventory while sprinting

In your opinion. Thankfully everything seems to suggest this along with some of the other unrealistic aspects in the game are merely there due to place holders or lack of assets atm. You telling me in a game where Stamina is already planned, where manual shifting of gears while driving vehicles is going to implemented and where blood types are modeled having your character have full access to his inventory while sprinting at 30 km/h is intentional. No of course not. Hopefully it just means it lacks an animation and one will be added later. Accessing your inventory is a risk and reward type deal, if you need to get into your gear then you should be vulnerable for a short amount of time while you sort through it. As for your animation comments yes more animations for everything including the most pointless of things would be an improvement over no animation.

    Open inventory while sprinting

If you ask me they need to add an animation where you bend over and shuffle through your pockets while in your inventory. The tab and instantly do anything you want in your inventory is not only unrealistic but it sucks for gameplay.

    The Soviet PPŠ-41 SMG

Probably because they arent needed. I highly doubt any vehicles will be added that couldn't be defeated with regular rifle rounds. Heck regular civilian cars can be defeated with a single .357 magnum to the engine block.

    Different Arrow Head Types

Seems like a ton of work for something nobody will ever use. Just like the current crossbows and bows.

    The Soviet PPŠ-41 SMG

    This is my ideal list. .22lr - 9x18 makarov - 7.62x25, .357 magnum/.38 special, 9mm nato, .32 acp | 5.45x39 , 7.62x39 , 5.56x45 , 7.62x54r, .308 , 12 gauge as for the hunting calibers for rifles 7mm Remington Magnum Or .30- 06, or 9.3x54 brennake for short range big game hunting.

    The Soviet PPŠ-41 SMG

    7.62x25 or dont bother.
  11. Heh talk about an understatement. Yea if there ever was a caliber that would have cool guns that fit the setting it would be this. Certainly a lot more weapons compared to say .45 acp or .380.

    rethinking the ak family

Excited about the model 70 too. I think part of the reason I like the idea of consolidating the ak family is that the hierarchy would sort of recreate the same hierarchy found in the mod. In the mod guns with optics were king just think of the m16a4 in the mod vs the m16a2. What I suggested in the op would have a similar effect on the ak family. While at the same time repurposing the implausible ak 101 for a far now common ak74m. This at the same time gives the ak family especially the 74 models more parity with the western rifles that seem to share magazines. Basically streamlines the game and loot for theses weapons and adds some realism.

Should scopes in dayz have the ability to zero?

Great news hopefully they take the same approach to the shooting mechanics and not only add mil/moa turrets but full blown ballistic simulation like in this video. The effect on gameplay would be amazing since firefights would last much longer.

The Winchester Model 70 discussion thread

I am not. I am merely challenging the notion that a random surplus mosin nagant shooting dirty surplus ammo is going to punch 1 inch holes and snipe people at 1000 m on the first shot. Mosins are fine, fun to shoot, reliable guns that are a downright bargain but super precise long range rifles comparable to modern bolt action rifles they are not. Currently mosins are way way too accurate

Should scopes in dayz have the ability to zero?

Pretty much. If all those things are added perhaps firefights would last longer than a few seconds.

Should scopes in dayz have the ability to zero?

Agreed. At the same time everything in game seems to be held together with glue due to be completely removed and or replaced at a later time. I suspect and hope that is the case with the sniping mechanics and "zeroing" options on weapons

Should scopes in dayz have the ability to zero?

LRS = Should have a MOA "zeroing" Pu = Should be calibrated for 7.62x54r and should elevate for up to 1300m when mounted on a sks it should still elevate for 7.62x54r and not the sks 7.62x39 PSO = Should elevate to 1000m and should be calibrated for 7.62x54r out of a svd, the chevrons are used for shooting past 1000m. When mounted on aks the elevation adjustments should not be accurate since the scope is built for 7.62x54r not 7.62x39 or 5.45x39. The upcoming hunting scope should be moa or mils as well.

Should scopes in dayz have the ability to zero?

thats entirely the problem its not realistic. You take any modern scope and you dont have 100m - 1000m markers. You have a universal mil or moa turrets a angular form of measuring. Make sniping realistic and the difficulty and fun spikes up. http://youtu.be/MlKtKqpCaWw?t=5m38s

    Hemorrhaging, Tourniquets and Craftable Tourniquets

Great idea bleeding really should be dangerous currently a gunshot to the neck can be cured with a magical rag.

    Arm fatigue

Pretty simple suggestion introduce arm fatigue when the weapon is raised up and aiming. Anyone who has ever shot a rifle before will tell you that holding a rifle up at eye level begins to tire you out after a while. This is particularly true for heavier rifles. They could simulate this fatigue in a simple way by increasing sway.
  21. gibonez

    Arm fatigue

yup it should since as you said your arms and the weapon are supported by the ground when prone.

The Winchester Model 70 discussion thread

Inaccurate relative to just about any modern production rifle. Do some bench testing and shoot a 5 inch group, compare it to a 5 inch group with just about any modern rifle and then you will see what people mean by it being inaccurate. Every mosin is different the one I have shot was piss poor imo 5 inch groups at best using surplus ammo out of a spam can.

The Winchester Model 70 discussion thread

Those western weapons only being in helicopters is what makes them plausible. Why would you find an m4 or an aug in a Native military base ? it makes sense that you would only find them in western helicopters .
