FoV abuse, scatter when snapshoting, on-screen dot and zoom issues
gibonez replied to FrostDragon's topic in Suggestions
Forced free aim would do wonders for the shooting mechanics in the game. I hate the locked in optional free aim system of dayz and arma. don't make it an option but instead invest heavily into free aim making hipfire past point blank range useless and overall increasing the fun of cqb. -
Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
gibonez replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
There are still a multitude of things they could do to appease both sides and more importantly fix the gameplay as a result. - Readjust the cameras position - Not render players that the player cannot see - Disable third person view wen prone or crouching - Remove iron sights for third person servers and have all aim done with a crosshair. - etc Any number of the above could solve the problem while keeping the majority of the people happy. PVP will be better for it and those few that do complain will be complaining because they can no longer peek around cover thus their opinion should be ignored. -

So silly the dot is still in the game. -

Or why not just add the actual periscope and it functions just like real life? Ace mod had one -

Once again that does not fix the problem. -
Who still uses Mosin (+LRS) for range kills?!

This pretty much. 3 inch groups is good for a sks. 4 inch groups for a rather good example of an akm and 5 inch groups at 100 yards is a typical good mosin. The single biggest factor attributing to the mediocre accuracy is the ammo. Soviet military surplus ammo is all over the place, you might get a good batch or you might get a batch that fires 400 fps less than the other batch. -
ahahaha yea no its not. PVE is almost non existent and is unimportant in dayz. Zombies serve absolutely no purpose in dayz other than to provide glitchy bouts of frustration and to put further emphasis on a broken melee system.

And none of that justifies one person having extra visual information over another person with zero risk. Simply not rendering what you can't see fixes that and makes the games PvP fair and balanced -
Please Revert back to the old running animations
gibonez replied to GhostSlayer (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
New animation is fine. Although I'm sure it's not final either. It will probably get tweaked again once the movement speed is reduced -
The pso 1 has elevation adjustments all the way to 1000m however those elevation adjustments are extremely specific and correspond to an SVD in 7.62x54r. So mounting a pso on an ak will not magically zero the weapon correctly as the scope is configured for a separate weapon and a different caliber altogether. So a fix would be to keep the pso's elevation adjustments the same regardless of what weapon it is mounted on keeping the psos elevation adjustments for the svd accross all of the mountable weapons. So an akm with a pso that is zeroed at 100m will not be dead on it will have a completely different point of impact since 7.62x39 coming out of the 16 inch barrel of an akm has completely different ballistics to a 7.62x54r coming out of an svd.
-
Yea it would. 7.62x39 has a rainbow trajectory it drops like 11 feet at 500m. The 54r should be under 5 feet at the same range. None of is of course is very apparent due to the games 100m elevation adjustment system. Say we get mil turrets the difference in ballistics between calibers will be super apparent.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)

I thought the devs flat out said no m14 on Reddit some time ago. -

You cant with anywhere near the consistency that you can in dayz. The Mosin in dayz is hyper accurate. -
Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
gibonez replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
I suppose that is true but if third person view peeking was not a factor in the video then the guy inside would have had an advantage had the outside person walked through the front door. Flatout not rendering people you cannot see in tpv would have fixed this problem in the video. -

gibonez replied to MarchmelloMan's topic in General Discussion
Ideally the mosin should not be making 1000m shots anyway. -

Another perfect example of why the status quo should be fixed. -
So many benefits from locking in the FOV when scoped in. The most important one however is it allows ranging reticles on magnified binos and scopes to actually function.

Who says its not realistic. One also has to remember that what you go through when shooting while hunting is not the same as what is going on in dayz. In dayz you are sprinting at 30 km/h over steep hills for 30+ minutes then you suddenly stop and aim at a guy of course the sway should be insane in such instances. Those that want realism are probably like me they don't care how the game achieves the realism as long as the end result results in players having similar accuracy to what is normal in real life. They can either achieve this through excessive sway , cones of fire or maybe high depth bullet trajectory simulation. So long as it mimics real life accuracy in the end I am ok with it. I will agree though that high sway alone is not the most elegant solution.
-
Why would we be ? The sway is an in game mechanic that in the end results in the in game accuracy of the player closely mimicking what is possible in real life under duress. Remember with the limitations of aiming with mouse and keyboard the sway and upcoming stamina systems are the only way to even remotely mimic real life combat accuracy. Unless of course you guys want huge cones of fire to come back. One also has to remember that shooting mechanics are no where near complete, I am sure eventually bipods and weapon resting will make an appearance negating the sway when in static positions even then the sway from a person out of breath will still hopefully be significant.

Hmmm to test, to break them and help identify problems ?
-
Yea it needs an animation. However the worst feature is 3pp. 3pp ruins so much of the games potential and absolutely destroys any stealth. PVP is also a joke as a result of it.
-
I don't get why you'd play this over the mod?
gibonez replied to scaramoosh (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
The mod had no spirit or identity. The mod was copied arma 2 with added zombies and a wonky and very badly implemented loot system. -
kos vs. being a filthy sniper with a fetish for violence
gibonez replied to gcriseightysix's topic in General Discussion
Not sure why you would bother with sniping in standalone atm. Absolutely nothing is satisfying about the sniping in the game right now. Everything about the sniping right now is overly simplified and easy. -
I think that's equally bad since it still gives the player some control over the spawn system.
