What good would posting one do? It doesn't change the fact that sniping is laughably easy in fact it's the easiest way to kill in dayz. This is problematic because in real life it should be the hardest practice. But in dayz it's as easy as page up 8 times line up and shoot.

Reduce running speed by increments as vehicles are introduced

Have you never ran or sprinted a day in your life ? The fatigue in Arma 3 is pretty darn spot on. Not only is it spot on but by god does it improve the gameplay and more important forces people to actually think about what they put on before they head out. If you don't believe me try it, go to a soccer field or football field, wear a backpack with a few text books and sprint as hard as you can you will end up being substantially slower than the in game characters would be in arma 3. If anything the arma 3 fatigue is a little forgiving. -
It's especially comical when they are directly referencing Dayz long range shooting mechanics or more accurately the over simplified point and click "sniperinz". There is nothing hard, challenging or rewarding about shooting someone at long range in dayz currently.

Fun fact say you have 3 barrels of equal quality , manufactured in the same way with the same tooling. The shortest of those barrels will have the best mechanical accuracy. -
I think part of the problem is that the devs really have little choice in the matter. Even if they wanted to have 99 percent of the stuff in game be civilian oriented they would still have to make stuff to put into the military spawn locations in the map. My best case scenario would be that chenarus would get a total revamp all military loot locations not the north west airfield or the new tent city above it would be removed completely. Have only 2 military loot locations would not only increase the military items value but at the same time put less of an emphasis on military base loot, its importance and perhaps even better player map distribution.

Then pick a private with a decent population then. The private hive is a terrible idea that just opens the door for countless problems. There's a reason why other games don't copy the system it's flawed.

You are talking about gameplay differences I am talking about aesthetics. Dayz and Arma if dayz continues to have an over abundance of military weapons and clothing will just continue to look like arma. Especially true when the games share nearly every other aspect from movement to rendering engine. For this reason alone drastic measures in the art department should be taken to ensure each game is different enough. Alot more of this and far less of this would help

hmmm barrel length has zero correlation with accuracy. Longer barrel length just means potentially higher muzzle velocity depending on the caliber. -
Sounds cool and all but lets be honest. Crafting outside of simple crafting is not going to be a big thing in dayz.
-
Both Drastic measures in order to ensure that Dayz enough of its own product over arma.
-
All the more reason why the public player hive should be dumped in favor of making every server a private one.
-
Hopefully when the game is complete the differences between arma and dayz are extremely apparent. One surefire way to achieve this is to not include an abundance of military weapons and clothing.

Porting over the arma 3 stamina system and movement speed and then tweaking from there would be ideal. Arma 3s stamina system is pretty perfect even if the strafing seems a tiny bit too responsive. -
Please don't duck with the current 'Hardcore' mode.

Don't kid yourself if there is an option some server owners would set it. 15 - 30 minute server timers would be nice though, would stop the suicide in order to spawn closer to their desired location. -
Works great will never go back. However if you can try to wait for a 144 hz ips monitor they will come out in 1440p soon.
-
Everyone is a threat in dayz atleast it was in the mod. The guy with the makarov was just as deadly as the fully kitted guy with an m249. They killed you because you were a threat.

What are your biggest concerns and fears regarding the near/far future of the game?
gibonez replied to joe_mcentire's topic in General Discussion
The quoted comment was from almost a year ago. A time where the gun mechanics featured a magical cone of fire and weapon attachments that magically reduced dispersion. At that time I did have fears the game was going to be made easy for the easy mode crowd. However those fears have been pretty much eliminated. Comments from the developers and the actual games development has instilled confidence in the game. The game looks to be the brutal, harsh, and unforgiving survival simulation many of us wanted. -

Increments ? Just reduce it to a realistic number right away there is no need to baby people in. People have been asking for a stamina and redeveloped run speed for a while now. -

I really wish they would dump all of the variables and have on standardized game mode in one form that they can then tighten up and focus on. No 3rd person only, no 1st person only, no casual or hardcore no public or private hive. Just one version that has none of the problems that plague any of the versions. A version of the game with 3rd person yet no 3rd person view peeking, a version with no ghosting or server hopping. A version where death is important and suicide is not desirable. Having different server options and catering to everyone ends up making every version subpar in the end. -
You know what the specs are on the variable scope by any chance ?
-
Server hopping? Is there a solution? If not, what else....

Only solution I can think of is making every server a private hive. -

3-D models for optical sights with inner view (view-in-view)

Has been suggested countless times in the past. -
Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
gibonez replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
Yea it absolutely makes people pop in and out of existence but it works on a realistic concept and that alone merits its inclusion. It is not the first game to do such a thing either. Project Zomboid does the exact same thing, what you cannot see is not rendered and this in turn leads to some sometimes terrifying game play. I still think the best approach is a multifaceted attack on the problem. Primarily the fourth wall type of approach but built right into the engine to eliminate any problems with it, a smart fade in system so characters are seamlessly blended in while in third and lastly a camera reposition so that any pop in you would encounter is far less noticeable due to the new camera.
