After reading the DayZ wiki's page on planned weapons

Next Will hopefully be the varmint 5.56 NATO rifle Chris once mentioned. Cz 527 varmint I believe though there are dozens of suitable rifles in that caliber. -
In my opinion this game should focus on melee combat
gibonez replied to Avant-Garde's topic in General Discussion
Should it however ? Post soviet Russia is a pretty restrictive nation when it comes to firearm ownership. There are 8 guns per 100 civilians in Russia. There are only 226,000 rifles in civilian hands. Russia ranks 68 when it comes to firearms per 100 civilians. So no firearms should not be very common -
Agreed. So much.

Yea it would be nearly identical to the svd. Especially since the PSO has relatively low magnification like the SVD. -

You still need a clip in order to make the garand work. so it pretty much is just like any of the other magazine fed weapons it needs a clip to function. -

So long as the garand is in .30-06 I'm ok with it. 7.62 NATO garand sounds disgusting -
Get rid of inventory "tetris", its busy work and limiting.
gibonez replied to franzuu's topic in Suggestions
Thats how arma 3 handles it and by god does it do a fantastic job. The more weight you carry the slower your sprint, jog speeds are and the shorter your sprint time is . You also get fatigued when going up hills if you have a heavy load. It works quite nicely and it is a progressive approach so the more you add the slower you become allowing the player to try to find their own sweet spot with the gear they carry. Only thing that I believe is missing is a good weight indicator in the inventory menu a simple box with green, yellow and red indicating stress on the player would work. -
They are steep enough where the character should at the very least slow down. A new animation for traversing steep hills would be nice.
-
People really need to realize how steep some of these hills are. Hope the sprinting up high angle inclines is also needed. In dayz you are able to Sprint up inclines that would have people tumble and fall in real life.

Exactly without realism dayz is nothing. It's just another survival game with the gimmick of zombies. Realism is what sets dayz apart the only defining feature. It's also in a good position too considering the devs realism pedigree.

German military vehicle: LGS Fennek. An Easy addition to SA
gibonez replied to stielhandgranate's topic in Suggestions
All that would be nice I suppose if any of those things were readily available. I highly doubt lmgs, mines, and grenades will be. They will end up being a rare occurrence and thus not a viable defense against armored vehicles. Just sounds like something better left in arma. -
Should I buy Arma II for Dayz mod or Dayz Standalone?
gibonez replied to greenstar105's topic in New Player Discussion
You should buy arma 2 for ACE mod. However I doubt there are that many active servers still playing it. -
German military vehicle: LGS Fennek. An Easy addition to SA

Hmmm wouldn't ordinary civilian cars also fit into that category. I doubt LMGS or gpm would do anything to these armored vehicles. Also why would explosives be anywhere near common enough to even warrant being a threat to an armored vehicle. Have they discussed adding rpgs and at4s now ? I thought the loot was to remain relatively realistic. -

I have to wonder why even bother with any armored vehicles ? I highly doubt they will add any weapons capable of defeating them although watching players with mosins and sporters try to take down an apc would be comical. -

I doubt it but who knows. Devs certainly like throwing around interesting guns that other games do not feature such as the fn trombone so an elephant gun would certainly be interesting. Because removing the lrs from the mosin is a realistic restriction. -

More civilian bolt guns the better. Do hope they come in very civilian heavy calibers too that fit different roles such as .22-250 for that light weight ultra fast accurate punch at long range or .9.3x64 for that medium range big game round. -

Wouldn't mind an ACE mod style inventory system myself where every item has cubic inches or cm and then inventory is filled that way. -

Why would a German vehicle be in Rural Eastern Europe. -
Love that revolver. Would be great as a starter weapon as it requires no mag. 10 round capacity seems nice too.
-
You are listing a bunch of realistic things that would never even be thought about since they have zero gameplay implications. Realism needs to be pursued when it involves gameplay.
-
Yup go for as much realism as possible as it will balance the game and create depth. The whole too much realism ruins games sentiment is bullshit especially with games like h1z1 around.
-
Suggested this a long time ago. So many things in red orchestra that would be great in dayz.
-
Do they though ? I thought most of the polls showed girls preferred either stubble or a clean shaven face. Girls liking beards I thought was one of those misconceptions people have just like how muscle heads think that girls are into gigantic roid heads but studies show the opposite.
-
Never understood the beard love. They get itchy, and I would imagine sucks when eating anything.
