Biggest problems in Dayz fixed with one simple solution
gibonez replied to gibonez's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is why I can not come up with another solution to the disconnections. Only thing I can even remotely think of is eliminating any benefit to disconnecting by ensuring the only location he can spawn back in into the same location is the very server he left. More importantly legit players would no longer have to fear the disconnector would come back behind them using an exploit to unfairly kill them. -
As 50 and the m107 are the only 2 guns that crappy combat disconnectors cannot combat. 1 shot to the stomach, chest or head and they are dead before they can even alt f4. I would say replace the as50 and the m107 with a single shot bolt action 50 cal the barret m99. http://cefllc.net/PICTURES/BarrettM99/IMG_2621-1280.jpg Still a 1 hit kill, smaller weapon, convert 10 round m107 mags into 10 single shot rounds or you use the 10 rounds but long delay between shots.

They need to make the ghilie suit unlootable off people and extremely rare. .001 percent.

Excellent suggestion especially bleeding offline. Could see the server keeping track of your bleeding per second when you disconnect and how long you are gone. Server then combines second gone before reconnect X amount of blood loss a second and subtracts that blood to your blood leading to most people dying. -
Biggest problems in Dayz fixed with one simple solution

While I like the idea of a disconnect timer it will still not prevent people from alt +f4ing out of the game. It is as easy as setting up a macro for ESC + ALT +F4. That is all it takes for a player to disconnect. Loot not spawning near players will also never work because they will just figure out the minimum distance required and then server hop from that location. This is how people manage to server hop the barracks. I honestly think there is no other real solution to these problems aside from just tieing the location to each server. Do you guys and gals not already frequent a regular server already ? -

Game already does that but server hoppers have ways around this. Such as logging out at the bathtubs in the barracks that lead to loot spawning still. Also yes Hackers are the biggest problem in day z but it is not one that is gameplay related and directly caused by dayzs game mechanics. It is caused by idiots who enjoy finding exploits and griefing people. Server hopping, combat disconnecting, etc are all caused by the global character location system. It aids in playing the game unfairly and is unrealistic. It also helps in making servers generic and worthless. No server has its own identity they are all the same and they all are plagued by the disconnectors, exploiters, and server hoppers. -
I could have swore the gun was in game. Just ultra rare .

Anyone wish this game had a safe fire selection for all applicable weapons. Countless times I have agroed zombies or revealed my position due to accidentally firing my weapon. A weapon safe mode could prevent this. When the weapon is in safe the game could have you go into a different animation also to show other players your weapon is in safe. This could help players group up and dissuade people who shoot on sight. The safe mode would be quite simple just press f till you go into safe mode then you cannot fire your weapon.

People tend to stay on a specific server. Server I play in has 15 to 20 regulars. people spawning in the coast fully kitted would be pretty rare. The benefits would far outweight the negatives. -
True but that distance would give you enough time to spawn in before they could see you.
-
Terrible idea. The only fair solution is to not allow you to spawn if you have players within 50 meters of your last spawn location. This balances it all out. You can no longer spawn behind people to get the drop on them, they can no longer spawn kill you while your character loads.

Ghillie suits are already overpowered. This would just take them over the top. You could be inches away from a ghillie suit person and they are impossible to see.

Simple Solution to Loot Farming via Server Hopping
gibonez replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Or they can just fix all of the problems regarding server hopping aka ghosting, loot farming , people spawning beside you and murdering you. All of those fixed with a simple simple solution. Server specific locations. Character location is tied to each server not every server. Leave the server and your location is saved. Join a new server you spawn at the coast. BINGO 90 percent of the problems in Dayz fixed. -
I present to you...The perfect way to stop disconnecting!
gibonez replied to soapmak3r's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Will not stop disconnectors. they will just alt f4. Only server locations being tied to each server will stop it. -
The as 50, m107, l85 with thermal and fn fal with nvg should all be removed. All of them are overpowered guns that are extremely common. Replace the as 50 and m107 with a single shot Barret 99. 1 shot kills but 1 round bolt action no semi auto 10 round magazines. Replace the fn fal nvg with the regular fn fal, replace the l85 to the susat sight version.

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
gibonez replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I would still kill people if the game was a living hell. I would do it gladly and their supplies would be even more useful. -
Both of your problems would be fixed with server specific spawns. Location is tied to each server and when you spawn on a new server to avoid death like a coward you are spawned near the coast.

Spawn roulette is a far too common thing now. It puts strain on the server and is probably the single biggest reason why player bodies do not last long on the server. Anyone else feel you should be punished for rouletting in order to achieve a good spawn. Perhaps this can be enforced with administrators banning people who are caught rouletting. Perhaps the punishment can be integrated into the game itself by making people have a cool down timer of 10 minute before you can respawn.
-
Probably not since Rocket really gimps admins. Role playing servers would require strict monitoring by admins so they can freely kick and ban people who do not follow the rules.

Fully populated night servers / More NVGs
gibonez replied to wordplayuk@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I have to say no. They should just remove nvgs from the game honestly. Only nvgs should be the ones mounted on weapons. -
"Unique" solution to discourage DCing to avoid death.
gibonez replied to Ag3nt Richt3r's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There is only 1 solution to disconnectors. Server specific location. 1. Disconnect to avoid death while in combat = your location is only saved in the server you just disconnected in. 2. Join a new server and you are spawned at the coast like a new character. -
Every Server is Same Timezone
gibonez replied to PricelineNegotiator (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Nothing wrong with giving admins more power to run their server how they want. Sure admin abuse could be a problem but then again just frequent a server you like. -
Every Server is Same Timezone
gibonez replied to PricelineNegotiator (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Server tied player locations. Each server holding player location data not the master server. This would fix server hopping, ghosting, loot farming via server hopping and alot of the griefing in the game. -
The two biggest problems in Dayz in my opinion are Server hoppers and Ghosters. These people jump from server to server and from relative safety raid, kill and steal from other players. This feels like an exploit and is detrimental to gameplay. The only way I can think of fixing this is by tying player locations to individual servers. There would be many advantages to be had with such a system. #1. Server hoppers and Ghosters would be eliminated as soon as this is put in place. #2. Each server would develop its own community with a set of regulars attending. #3. Disconnectors would be eliminated. Disconnecting from the server would grant that player no safety since his location is tied to the server. Any attempt to join a different server to reposition himself would result in this players character being given a new spawn location near the coast. #4. Day servers would no longer be overloaded. Players will no longer server hop in order to permanently join a daytime server. What do you guys think ? Do you guys have any other solution to server hoppers and ghosters ?
