There is a nice nifty fov slider now so this is no longer a problem. Also the reason people are so passionate about removing it is because it can and is being used as an exploit to gain the upper hand in combat situations. In the picture for example you can clearly see things you shouldnt be able to see. Until this is address tpv should be removed completely.
-
FOV sliders are a standard in pc gaming they would not go away if third person was removed. FOV is the very reason why third person is no longer needed you can now adjust your fov to your liking and get the same situational awareness that you would have gotten from tpv. Exept now you cant see around corners and over cover.
-
Yea but most people wouldnt know this. Best solution is Acre being adopted for all chat clients a plugin that works within dayz like acre for arma.
-
Warz got backlash for it anti consumer practices and quality of the game. Dayz with the removal of tpv for testing purposes would get over half the people praising it and a vocal minority complaining for a short time. That is until they adjust. War z got backlash for a completely different reason. Dayz getting backlash isnt a problem however it will sell regardless and if removing tpv ensure better balanced more intuitive game play then its the right choice.

If rocket and team decide to make the default setting in day not include tpv and lump tpv with the easy mode server setting with tags and all the noob stuff then yes tpv servers will disappear.

[Standalone] Suggestion for humanity indicator

Fantastic ideas. -
One way to force in game talk is to remove the push to talk options in the game and have the microphone auto detect voice chat. So if you choose to talk in skype or mumble or teamspeak you also do it in game.

Why are all the bad players always complaining about kos ? KOS is not an exploit or a bug or a game breaking feature its a simple playstyle that some players choose to play with. PVE servers should never exist.
-
Lol with what everyone is suggesting there would be no third person servers so your friends would not have a choice but to play in fps servers. So really you would have no problem.
-
Rocket can do whatever he wants especially in the alpha. Removal and addition of features can happen any time. like I said at the very least he should remove it from all the servers during the alpha to test it out.
-
At the very least rocket should use the alpha to test it out. Remove it for a few weeks test the reactions and how it improves or degrades the gameplay and then make a final informed decision for the final release. It's the alpha its time to try new things.

Thats the problem right there. Balota gear and the coastal spawns encourage pvp in the coasts. removing the balota military loot and randomising the spawns so you only spawn in land would encourage exploration and would result in entirely new experiences.

Terrific summary. Essentially there is 0 reason now in stand alone to have third person view servers. All of the problems have been fixed the exploit of looking around corners and over cover can be permanently removed.

Hero/bandit skin perks idea

Solves a problem that does not exist. -
server hopping and combat logging is what is killing this game. Rocket needs a ban system in place. If you server hop and the central server detects you picked up look in 2 different servers within 10 minutes you get an immediate 20 minute ban. If it detects you combat logged you are banned for 4 hours.

Third person would be completely fine for vehicles only. It's unlikely someone will get in a vehicle then move said vehicle behind cover just to peek over corners. For infantry however REMOVE it.
-
I agree if anything the military loot down south should be removed. Balota has way too much military loot for no reason. There is almost no incentive to venture north now.
-
Fine then use the other 100 valid arguments why third person is bad and needs to be removed from all servers by default. Note how I said needs not should. Perhaps we can reach common ground I would be fine if third person view was included in the easy server setting and the default had it removed.
-
It's an exploit it allows you to see things you would ordinarily never be able to see. Like I said best solution is to keep third person view but lock the camera so it faces the player from the front like so.
-
You can turn that off in the options its called head bob. ..... NEXT ?
-
They didnt third person view was just part of arma 2. Had they known how much of a problem it causes and how it essentially allows cheating they would have never allowed it in.
-
Sure they dont have to remove it they can change it and make it a purely cosmetic thing lock it as a camera from the front facing your character. Doing this everyones happy right ? You keep your third person and can see your character. And we dont have you guys looking around corners, over objects with absolute safety. I promise you they would buy it anyway. And those who love tpv will keep on playing after a week or so or constant whining.
-
Removing third person would automatically fill the servers up. People wont have a choice but to join. It's just one of those design decisions that they need to make for our own good even if some dont like it. Sorta like removing the 50 cals.
-
Yea by default the head bob should be turned off and the fov slider cranked up a notch so new players just starting have good situational awareness and do not get sick . Then they can easily remove third person view.

Of course they would but the vast vast vast vast majority of people are non military and police and would greatly outnumber them. 9/10 times a survivor you would encounter would be an average joe not some ex soldier or cop. In the US for example in 2006, 800,000 people were employed as police at the local, state and federal level. As of right now there are 1,429,995 Active military personnel. This leads us to a grand total of 2229995 military and police personnel of which the grand majority are in non combat support roles. This is out of a population of 317,314,000. So if my math is right Military and police make up 0.45065613241142843 percent of the total population of the US. You telling me 0.450 percent of a population would make up the majority of survivors in a disaster event ? I used the US btw since it is often considered a police state, we have more police and military per citizen than other nations. Gews what does the average mosin get in moa in real life ?
