The idea of random survivors being able to pilot them sure is.

Yea as with above the only AR platform rifle I see worth adding to supplement the m4 is maybe a varmint ar 15. The reason why it might be worth it is that the varmint rifle would actually play differently than the m4 unlike something like an m16 or mk18. The varmint rifle would boast something like a 22-24 inch barrel increasing the muzzle velocity of 5.56 substantially, it would have a good accurate trigger, Then again both of those things could simply be used in a bolt action rifle in .223 and for the games aesthetics it might be the better route.

DSHK would be super super super plausible. It is a simple, rugged weapon system that is all over the world. The weapon however requires atleast 2 people to move and operate. It is used in this configuration in Afghanistan by the Taliban to take long range pop shots at static targets sometimes to great effect if they know their dope. Here is a video demonstrating how it is being used all over the world. Even moreso than being vehicle mounted the DSHK would be ideal in the most common crew served role. 1. One player carrying the gun, one the tripod, one ammo. 2. Deploying it at some distance from the target beyond their weapons usually small arms effective range. 3. Taking pop shots at the static target in dayzs case most likely a player base or homestead. 4. Once you got your dope right the 12.7x108 round will have no problem shredding vehicles and even people inside of structures to shreds. Of course this would require a totally new crew served weapon mechanic and more advanced interactions potentially a new interaction menu to set up the tripod then mount the gun and finally feed the weapon ammo. The drawbacks of such a system would be the sheer weight and with the upcoming stamina system it would be a real burden. It would also require cooperation in order to even get close to remotely using the weapon to good effect. A person in binoculars , providing feedback to the gunner who is limited to iron sights to get rounds on target. 3 people to even get the weapon set up and good communication throughout. Overall if the devs really want to they could have a real winner with the dshk but it would require alot of work and new features to be added to the game.

man , how about dinosaurs too.

yay customization.....

That is one of the first steps taken in order to improve the perspective in hopes of potentially eliminating wall peeking. You can expect it to be tweaked and changed but it will probably remain over the shoulder.

You can't center dot with forced hipfire.
-
What looks better. The current crosshair hip fire shooting that makes it possible for hip firing out to hundreds of meters. or forced free aim with no crosshair aka this
-
In fact I would say that even without crosshairs is not enough. Ideally I would prefer if they forced Free aim + no crosshair just like Red orchestra 2 , Insurgency. For a game like Dayz it would feel really good when aiming + make it a tiny bit more difficult when shooting at range.
-
Still in the no crosshair team. No crosshair is needed less is more sometimes.
-
I think with a game like Dayz the traditional criteria of what you do in a game to have fun or what is needed should and probably is thrown out the window. Resting could be a good gameplay mechanic if done correctly and if it even has the slightest potential to improve the survival mechanics of the game then they should be looked into.

Suggestions regarding the M65 Jacket (and clothing in general)
gibonez replied to OnionOfShame's topic in Suggestions
where do these magical patches come from ? -
The high price tag is keeping even them out of reach. Even with my iop discount the price would be insanely overpriced. Like you said the Scar will be a relic a failed gun when it is all said and done.
-
How is any of this relative if you get the EXACT SAME frame rate regardless of the perspective thus this would be felt equally in both perspectives.
-
Even the numbers that are actually procured in the US is super super insignificant. They are probably no longer even buying them as they have had problems with the weapon's stock breaking among other problems due to ergonomics. The gun is just a weekend warriors guns nothing more nothing less. A failed weapon platform that never took off.
-
Nope. Not used by any nation in any sizeable or considerable numbers. It is a niche weapon system that failed to be adopted. Just because some obscure nation has a few dozen of them in their military does not mean it would be in any way plausible in dayz.
-
That is also completely incorrect. Mouse sensitivity is exactly identical regardless of perspective. No settings change, no magic happens behind the scenes. The camera simply pans back and floats 3 meters above your characters head like a mini uav hovering over your character.
-
All insignificant since performance does not magically change with the perspective.
-
Realism. Those things exist in real life in various colors and varieties thus they must represented in game in the same manner. Not to mention they all have various protective values and attributes. Having variety in the clothing does not validate third person view....

We need a Q&A section in the forums.
-
ok...
-
One such way to stop or atleast help prevent this is to randomize the spawn so that you cannot possibly predict how you will spawn thus making killing yourself a potentially fruitless effort. Another way is to turn off fall damage for the first hour of a characters life.
-
Not to mention this allows them to remove the Side rail on the ak74 and akm as they were only found in the N model of both weapons meanwhile every ak74m has a side rail right from the factory. Meanwhile Older military issued akms and ak74s do not.
-
Neither of which would be common in Eastern Europe. Heck the Mini 14 is not common in the US. It had some popularity in the early 90s but that was limited.

Yea no. That is not how doors work bud. They don't purposely swing both ways unless it is intentional.
