Movement in general is totally screwed up in dayz, fact that its so easy to strafe seems broken to me. People dont strafe in real life like in dayz.
-
that video answers everything.

Base building should at the very least be as robust and deep as rust.

There are a wide variety points people who want tpv removed are using over and over again. Problem is nobody on the other side seems to have any valid arguments aside from "but I like to use it" Still waiting on someone to tell me why its ok with them to see over cover and walls using tpv.
-
Because it is not a gameplay feature is a game breaking exploit and crutch.

Please for the love of god don't add "Sanity."
gibonez replied to SalamanderAnder (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Yea sanity has to be one of the stupidest suggestions that we see over and over again along with spawning with friends. -
If you can't bother yourself with running 30 minutes to reach a destination go play another game. This game is clearly not for you. Hope the devs continue to not cater to this type of player.

Even arma 2 had wonky unrealistic aspects when it came to shooting and ballistics. Heck the entire damage model was unrealistic and based off bullet velocity don't even think it took bullet weight or energy into consideration. Dayz team can do with a totally revamped system that is far more realistic .

The ksvk would work but the problem lies in how the 50 cals and sniper rifles were implemented in the mod. firing for the shoulder should not be an option, having one should slow you down and cause higher eating and thirst. The gun should require you to fire it from prone with the bipod deployed. Biggest problem is how crappy the sniping is in the mod and vanilla arma. elevation adjustments by 100s of meters is so dumb and easy. Only weapons that have such type of adjustments should have it typically only russian weapons do and even then its very crude and usually they dont hit where the optic says it should. Game needs a more precise way to adjust for elevation an moa or mrad adjustment method.

Private servers usually have the players location saved to one server so yes you cant server hop or ghost people. Combat log sure you can but people will just wait for you to log back in. Hack you can but its harder due to white listing and active admins banning hackers regularly. Private servers also have alot of support software to see if people are injecting scripts or hacks in game.
-
Then join another server or just stick to public hives. You always have the choice.
-
Funny thing is its the only engine that dayz would even be possible in. The mil sim aspects, the large view distance, the tactical gameplay and huge land scape only possible in this engine. All it lacks is a bit of polish that is all.

300m Range on the mosin? Page up not going past 300.
gibonez replied to infestedchris's topic in General Discussion
The devs have just restricted it. in game you can max it out out to 300m. With the long range scope its 800m yet in reality there are no elevation adjustments in meters on the scope instead its 0 - about 90 or so moa. With a common 20 moa or 40 moa base its 20 or 40 moa zero to 110- 130 -
That's the thing those are not temporary issues. Outside of having each public server save the player location I really do not see how they could get rid of those problems. The problem is the public hive itself.

Simple fact of the matter is that TPV seems to counter everything Dayz stands for. Dayz appears to be a hardcore survival game with zombies then it goes ahead and includes an insanely immersion breaking feature like tpv. One that lets you gain advantages over other players while remaining completely safe. What they should do is improve fpv so its more viable, increase the default fov, remove blur and head bob. Then remove tpv, brace for backlash for a week or so and eventually players will adapt. Not only will players adapt but the game will be better for it. This is the most important part no more stupid firefights where people just wait each other out because they know the other player can see them if they try to advance. No more players hiding on a rooftop without being seen yet they can see for miles all around them.

300m Range on the mosin? Page up not going past 300.
gibonez replied to infestedchris's topic in General Discussion
Here is a fun fact infested. The mosins iron sights actually go up to 2000m. The pu scope goes up to 1300m. The game not having accurate elevation adjustments is why it needs a moa elevation system. This way instead of giving you a bogus estimation of where the shot will hit it gives you a very accurate measurable number that you can replicate time after time. -
Main reason private servers are wanted is to squash hackers, server hopping, combat logging, and ghosting. You can't do those with the stupid public hive structure that is in place on public servers. White listing and more control over the server does an excellent job of stopping the bs in dayz.

Seems we are now running in circles. Proponents of the tpv removal provide reasons and good justifications for its removal and show proof of how it is an exploit that lets other people gain an unfair advatange and how it is gameplay breaking. Proponents of TPV simply say " I like using it so don't remove it" or " its not an exploit cause its in the game" The argument is easily won by the removal proponents. Ultimately however the removal must be done if the game is to move in a more hardcore direction like it appears to be then tpv needs to be removed the faster the better.

DayZ is NOT fun for new players, which makes me worried.
gibonez replied to Murakamo's topic in General Discussion
No nothing needs to be done. -
Theres a compensator for the mosin now ?
-
It's stupid that the bipod or any other accessory has any affect on accuracy. Only thing the bipod should do is allow you to stabilize the sway of the gun when prone or when deployed on objects.

Light RP, Community Growth, Private Server Discussion
gibonez replied to Katabasis's topic in General Discussion
Like the mod the future of the game lies in mods and more importantly private hives and servers. It's just a better way of controlling hackers, server hopping, combat logging and ghosting. -
I highly recommend you build it but if that is not an option just get an x51. Not terrible.

Stand alones zombies are much better. They could just increase in numbers. The zombies in the mod were atrociously bad.
