so... thats what u want Rocket ?

This just proves that they need to randomize the spawns to stop people from being stupid and suiciding. 0 coastal spawns all in land random spawns.

Accuracy comparison: DayZ vs ARMA 2

M4 is substantially more accurate than that. Even the ak47 and ak 74 are around 3 moa. M4 with mil spec ammo is about 1.5 moa to 2 moa.

DayZ Mod content vs. DayZ SA content

Most of that content in the mod is not from dayz mod itself but outside modders. Stand alone will flourish when modders can begin to tinker with it. In every single pc game modders always offer a better product than the actual vanilla retail game does.

when will base building start in the SA ?

People like building a base that meets their demands. I personally would build one from scratch out in a secluded area. End game would be loot hoarding inside the base and of course defending the base from raiders.
  5. zombies are place holders in rust. They are getting removed soon. The only thing all of these games share in common is survival each has great qualities but imo none have the total package.

Fix (not remove) Third Person Perspective

But we can all agree that TPV is broken correct ? Why not kill tpv in the alpha to test public reaction and more importantly how it affects gameplay and player interaction. The later on introduced the fixed tpv that does not allow you to cheat around corners.
  7. Fun fact. dayz has sold almost a million copies rust is around 250k At any given time rust is almost never behind more than 10k concurrent players. People are just simply getting bored of the lack of content in dayz. Heck I resorted to playing breaking point on arma 3 in anticipation of the huge content patch.
  8. what you are seeing is people are playing rust and continuing to play rust. With dayz there is no meat no content so they get bored and stop playing it. Meanwhile rust has base building, and constant content updates.

I just don't find item decay fun...

Item decay is just a bad gameplay mechanic. something they dabbled to punish a specific playstyle and in the end it does not work.

Accuracy comparison: DayZ vs ARMA 2

See thats where the beauty of such a system would happen. Each gun would have vastly different moa adjustments for different ranges so it would be up to the community to set up their own range tables for each weapon. The player could then print those out or make their own.
  11. Before I get started watch the following short video so you can understand what the difference between first focal plane and second focal plane is. Now that you understand what first focal plane is let me begin to explain it's importance. For the longest time the arma series has prided itself with being a combat simulator but it has had one cardinal flaw. Every single glass in the game have been second focal plane optics. This has been detrimental to gameplay and has not allowed any sort of range estimation using ranging reticles in game. First focal plane scopes allow variable power scopes to have accurate range estimation at any magnification and more importantly accurate hold overs regardless of magnification. Here is another video explaining it. Really hope Rocket and team take advantage of First focal plane scopes and allow users to accurately range targets using real world information on mildots and hold overs. http://www.primalrights.com/forum/article.php?a=4789 Good read on the subject.

For those complaining about development pace

I directly compare the dev pace in dayz to that of other alpha games. Compared to Rust for example dayz is moving along at a snails pace.
  14. It can be. For gaming purposes it would prove to be amazing. Say you are a bandit with a sniper rifle or hunting rifle with a variable power first focal plane optic with mildot reticles. You could write up a range charge with ranges to all the land marks in your area without a range finder by simply measuring the size of known objects with your mildots.

    Why aren't PvE servers allowed?

Once there are private servers and private hives people can play however the heck they want. PVE servers would spring up and then the community itself would enforce those rules. Private hives are the solution to everything.

Does anyone have a problem with the zoom view?

Reason you don't know of any fps with this is because none of those fps are mil sims or are based off mil sim and more importantly none of those games need to simulate looking out at 1000s of meters. Problem with the FOV is that depending on what the fov is objects are rendered out further. Lower FOV = objects render much further. This is a bug not a feature, objects should render at the same distance for everyone regardless of FOV or zoom settings.
  18. Sure they were easy to range targets using bs mechanics that were specific to the mod. What I hope first focal plane and accurate mildots would do is allow real world knowledge to be applied to the game and allowing real world information be useful in game. Pretty much would require people to learn mildot formula to range targets and more importantly it would allow people to range targets far more accurately than is currently possible.

Does anyone have a problem with the zoom view?

thats the problem there seems to be alot of mis information about what it represents. Unlike tpv the zoom does represent something in real life. The zoom is ment to fix the sheer limitations of game resolution that is nowhere near as high as what your actual eye sees.

    Sniper Rifles

View distance is close to 3k meters. As the game gets optimized they should increase the player render distance ACE mod for arma 2 had players render at close at over 10k meters.

    Sniper Rifles

The only 50 cals that should ever be in dayz is the m2. This is when base building is put in place. Have a few of these in your base to defend against attacks and stop vehicles from ramming your gates.

Fix (not remove) Third Person Perspective

Vision affecting helmets etc will be awesome and insanely immersive. Misery mod for Stalker did a fantastic job of representing this. http://youtu.be/cQM-lCAfh50?t=4m19s Helmets blocked some vision but added much needed protection. Only problem is Dayz will never reach this level of immersion and depth unless they delete tpv.
