    Just came across this cool rifle in .22lr that is actively being used in the Russian military. Cool Suppressed 22 lr sniper rifle that is used for taking out lights, guard dogs, and people at close to medium range while making almost no noise.

    Agreed Civilian weapons would usually be in far better shape than military weapons. Most civi weapons are safe queens, pampered guns fired occasionally and babied. Meanwhile mil weapons get beat up.
  5. A we all know the new shotgun was introduced into the game. This civilian weapon is a fantastic addition and imo should be one of the most readily available and easiest to find guns in the game and ammo particularly birdshot should be relatively easy to procure. This weapon is a mainstay throughout the world quite easily the most versatile gun a person can own, you can hunt anything that walks or flies with a shotgun. So what shotguns and shotgun loads would you guys like to see make it into the game. Remington 870 Nice long barrel with an aggressive choke this duck gun maintains a night tight pattern out at a distance and can handle 3 1/2 magnum loads. Great accessory for shotguns would also be that shell holder mounted on the stock. Saiga 12 This russian shotgun is quite popular in the US as well as the world. This semi automatic shotgun loads from 10 round magazines as well as some high capacity drum mags. Now for loadings I would like to see. Wax Slug These home made shells are devastating and could take advantage of the crafting system. Say they add candles or crayons the recipe would be Matches + crayons + buckshot = wax slug. As you can see wax slugs are devastating since they contain their pattern within their slugs and when they hit their target all of the payload is distributed into the target.

    Because they are the most common civilian firearms. They are devastating at close range and should be the most common weapon that spawns in game most common by far.

    Don't fall for Ubisofts bullshit. Ubisoft is notorious for downgrading games or flatout using bullshot footage before the game comes out. I promise you all that the game will look nothing like that when its out.

    Making military gear and loot insanely rare is the right move. Civilian weapons are just as deadly as military gear above all things its the player that counts.

    Even the bipods in Stand alone are stupid. ACE has the right idea on bipods. Shift + space = deploys the bipod onto the dirt reducing sway dramatically but instead we got this dumb menu option to deploy the bipod and it has no effect on sway and does not restrict movement or lock you in and worst of all it magically makes the gun more accurate.

    MY biggest gripe with the sniping in Arma is that in an attempt to streamline elevation adjustments by simply allowing you to adjust the zero by 100s of meters they actually gimp and reduce max potential of the weapons. If they would adopt a mil system and allow you to adjust the elevation in mils you could if skilled push 5.56 rounds out past 1000m, push .308 aka 7.62 nato rounds past 1300m. Not only that but since you can only adjust the elevation in gross adjustments of 100s of meters at long range there is alot of degree for error when you are stuck with a range in between adjustments. ACE system of sniping fixes every single one of the problems that Arma 2 vanilla shooting suffers from. Rocket and team should take notes and copy that ballistic model.

    Hmmm I really gotta ask how is it not ? Although using arma 3 is probably a bad example since its futuristic and based off fake weapons. Point I am saying its not up for the developers to put forth stupid gimps on weapons such as accuracy atleast not in a mil sim in order to balance the weapon. Dayz in particular does not need to do this since it has the best way to balance a weapon by simply controlling its loot chance and now in stand alone the total number of said weapons of that make in rotation. There won't be another situation like the As50 in the mod, they can now control the loot spawns and have say 1 weapon of a kind spawn across all of the servers. As far as making a 2100m shot with a 50 cal my stance on dayz and arma has always been that it needs a total overhaul to closely mirror real life shooting. Each time I post this.

    That is the problem right there. This should not apply to Dayz or Any bohemia produced game. They are built and were built on realism they own their success to authenticity and realism. As far as balance making the game as close to their real life counterparts is the best kind of balance the game can achieve. Balance has always been a non issue in mil sims and it should continue to be so. Let me ask one question what exactly would there be to balance if they made every single firearm in the game behave exactly like their real life counterparts ?

    Porting this to consoles can have a really negative effect on Bohemia Interactive too. Bohemia Interactive is a PC developer, porting this to consoles is a surefire way to alienate your loyal fanbase. Not devoting all your time and effort to the platform that has kept the doors open can be catastrophic. Bohemia also needs to remember its previous horrible experiences with console development. Never forget the 2005 opflashpoint port.

    Why is that for a moment and lets look back at the roots of Dayz how it even came to exist and why the mod became so popular. Dayz began with this treasure right here back in 2001. This Battlefield Simulator started it all it combined massive battles with infantry simulation in one amazingly good package that was incredibly fun but challenging. The weapons, vehicles, and soldiers all behaved and functioned like their real life counterparts. I played the crap out of that game as a kid on my riva tnt 2 32 mb card. Now lets flash forward to Arma 2. Arma 2 continued the tradition of simulation continuously adding more and more realism slowly but surely improving the franchise. Then dayz came into the picture and we have to understand why exactly it was popular and why it took pc gaming. The main reason that Dayz was so popular was because of its unique combination of survival game and military simulator. Had dayz not adopted arma 2s terrific gun play , ballistic model, and simulation and instead gone with a mass market arcade model it would have quickly been forgotten and would have been a simple wimper. This however was not the case, people enjoyed the game because for many it presented pvp and gameplay never before experienced by them all because of the mil sim aspects of them. So now comes along Stand alone and despite owing its success to realism and being authentic it is single handedly the most mass market non mil sim arcade game ever to be published by Bohemia Interactive. Stand alone as it stands is choke full of Arcade aspects such as cosmetic gun accessories having strange and non nonsensical properties on weapons. Cheap Magpul plastic cosmetic furniture on the m4 somehow magically making the weapon shoot 20x more accurately, the in ability to select fire modes on the m4, bipods magically granting weapons sub moa accuracy by merely being deployed. These Arcade features are Imo the wrong direction for dayz. Dayz should have embraced its success and strived to become the most realistic, authentic game it could be.

    My opinion is to make all of the guns have the exact same properties that they would have in real life. No magical attachments making the gun more accurate. Stick to mil sim aspects leave the arcade crap for consoles.

    Porting dayz to consoles will just ruin the franchise. Thats what happens when pc games get introduced to consoles, consolites stupidity taints the game. Look at minecraft soon it got ported to consoles he got lazy as fuck and stop updating the pc version or did so slowly. Look at elder scrolls it went from being a deep good rpg in morrowind to a stupid ass mass market watered down rpg for idiots in skyrim. Look at Bioware after it became a console dev, look at fallout. Making games for consoles just results in a watered down product but more importantly its a waste of resources that can be better spent on the ultimate gaming platform the pc where there is limit to potential.

    Yea but eventually when there are more military weapons that match the locale they will be extremely rare and not common. Will be nice to see people running around with shotguns, hunting rifles, single shot weapons, 22 caliber rifles and just pistols. So glad, ak47s, ak74s, sks, m4s are all going to be extremely rare.
