Problem is you wouldn't even be able to since putting a LRS or a nightforce scope judging by the model would require extensive gunsmitthing and machining. 0 chance of a survivor mouting it on the field without any tools. The LRs should simply not work for the mosin just like the Pu scope should not be compatible with the m4.
-
The mosin is a terrific weapon for 100 dollars but when compared to any modern rifle or even budget civilian rifles it is a POS. It is in accurate, has a sticky bolt, overly long, and not only that I have never shot a mosin that shot true meaning the non adjustable sights correctly hit where you aimed.
-
That is part of the problem that I see with the current weapon system. The accessories for the weapons work on far too many weapons weapons they should not work on. Nobody in their right mind would put a 2k dollar scope on a 100 dollar pos mosin. No need to apologize also we are all just having a friendly discussion.

Yet it is not russian. It's a made up country in a video game with a Nato and Russian force occupying it. Closest real life setting to Chenarus is the Czech republic.

5 min cooldown for switching servers is way to little
gibonez replied to smoq2's topic in General Discussion
That wont stop server hoppers, ghosters and combat loggers. Only thing that fixes those are private hives. -
Hide body does not make sense to even be in the game. When you kill someone you just cant magically make their corpse disappear. The option to bury the body when you have a shovel and are on grass feels far more appropriate.

How much authenticity is too much?
gibonez replied to LaughingJack (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Have you ever played chivalry, dead island, red orchestra and countless other fps games. They have awesome melee that do a good job at letting you judge distance. Dayz is the only fps that I know what horrific melee. -

Should be 20 minutes. -
That sounds like a terrific compromise it would give people incentive to loot houses and just explore more something people rarely do now.
-
Not when the gun is as old as the mosin and uses old surplus ammo that has inconsistent velocities and groups at 4 inches at 100 yards. @ 800 yards the rounds group at 32 inches. Alot of it comes down to the shooter but the shooter cannot compensate for a guns inherent accuracy.
-
Hes not wrong though ?

Random loot would probably improve gameplay forcing players to explore the entire map looking for loot not just military zones.

How much authenticity is too much?
gibonez replied to LaughingJack (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
The more authenticity the better. The golden rule however is it needs to feel consistent everything must feel authentic from the wounding, to the gun play to the movement and stamina. -
200 yard head shot every time yea that really depends. Is the rifle a finninsh m39 using match ammo then yes. Russian mosin using surplus ammo probably not.
-
While some of what you said is true it does not change the fact that some weapons are grossly inaccurate. The mosin nagant is pretty darn inaccurate , 4 moa with mil surp ammo is not good by any means. Meanwhile a standard heavy barrel m4 is about 2 moa. Ak74 is about 3 moa. Barrel length does not equal accuracy.

I really hope the PKM is the first Machinegun added into the game. This is such an engineering marvel and easily one of the most common squad machineguns in the world. http://youtu.be/ddf0bPDO6tU?t=6m41s In order to do the gun justice however DAyz would needs a complete re-haul when it comes to its shooting mechanics and how bi-pods work. ACE style shooting mechanics are a must. Pressing SPACE + Shift at the same time deploys the weapon on a surface, once this is done the weapon is snug against the floor or a surface, recoil is greatly reduced and the weapon is far more controllable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjKG-x0lIEE So anyone else love this beautiful weapon ?

Deans wants to bring Base Building Mechanics from Dead Linger - video
gibonez replied to TEST_SUBJECT_83's topic in General Discussion
You are starting to make me salivate. The thought of rolling up to an enemy base that is heavily fortified in a spg 9 in the back of a technical and starting a siege is boner inducing. K enough weapon porn. -
How to zero in with mosin when bolting takes eye off target?
gibonez replied to Highlander007's topic in General Discussion
Think it is gone. Operation flashpoint was the first game to sorta have free aim but that was only the cursor not when aiming down sights. -

Let's hope thats just a easily fixed bug and not an inherent engine problem that will always be there. -
To all of those who yell ALPHA at any sort of suggestion

How else are the devs going to know what to fix ? -
I also do love the m249 pretty intelligently designed lmg that is pretty customizable. It can be outfitted with fixed stocks, shorter barrels, collapsable stocks and has a top rail for mounting optics. One of the reasons the m249 would make for an awesome survival weapon if you could carry its weight is that it works with belts, and standard m16 magazines . Very cool gun with really good muzzle velocity, reliability and accuracy.

gibonez replied to Highlander007's topic in General Discussion
None of the things I mentioned would have any affect on any graphics performance. To be clear what I ment by accurate optic zoom is the optics actually zoom in exactly what the scopes in real life do the pu scope for example zooms in 3.5x regardless of fov settings meanwhile in dayz its like max 1.75 x or something. Free aim , manual bolting and the bayonet system from RO2 are merely gameplay mechanics. The animated reticles in RO 2 also would have no affect on graphics since it would merely move the reticle down and up when you adjust the elevation just how optics do in real life. Like so. -
How to zero in with mosin when bolting takes eye off target?
gibonez replied to Highlander007's topic in General Discussion
Merely asking that they take notice of the gunplay and mechanics of a game that has far far far superior game mechanics. Free aim, manual bolting, realistic accurate optic zoom, animated reticles when adjusting elevation and windage, terrific bayonet implementation etc. All these things are miles ahead of what Dayz currently has and emulating RO2 would be a benefit not a boon. -
Even without those mechanics the lmgs in the mod were never a problem . I don't ever remember them being considered overpowered.
