    Let's talk about heavy weapons

That would be this. 82mm soviet/russian mortar system max range of 2.5 miles. This would be a good option seeing as the 82mm mortar rounds would make for perfect IEDS. Big enough to disable a vehicle on the road , small enough to not completely destroy it and everyone inside.

    This zombie game needs more....

Janky zombies don't add anything to the game.

Anyone know how moddable the standalone is?

No but fixing performance issues, adding base building, and fixing any gameplay mechanics from the base game are completely possible. community can come up with amazing things just look at skyrim.

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

Vehicle crafting should hopefully make it in. Adding pieces of scrap metal for armor plating, attaching heavy machineguns or anti air guns in the rear of pick up trucks.

You do realize how stupid this makes you sound right ? The only reason Dayz exist is because of how moddable Arma 2 was. Mods turned arma 2 from being a nitch game to a smash mainstream success. It would be safe to assume that the majority of the sales for arma 2 are because of mods. Dayz will have mods and it will be quite moddable Rocket would be dumb not to have it this way. We players need mods because more often than not the community fixes the game not the devs.

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

Recoiless rifles and mortars would be extremely useful once base building is a thing. Mortars in particular would be extremely useful as they are so versatile. A organize group could set up a single or 2 mortars if lucky enough inside of their base then proceed to draw a map, with coordinates of all of their bases previous engagements. Set up coordinates for previous areas where people attacked or ambushes there base from things such as tree lines, hills overlooking their base. After having pre set up these firing solutions when they come under attack and know the location they could fire a few mortar shells relatively quickly to repel an attack. Mortars and mortar shells are heavy so they wouldn't be tugged around and used indiscriminately. They would be used for attacking bases and defending them.
  8. Why should they make not killing people an incentive ?

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

Thats were we disagree friend. I like having a group in the server that has all of the good stuff. Every server needs to have that group of players that others fear and work together against. Without that the game quickly becomes boring.

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

That would be one very dead mortar crew. Also the mortar would be completely balanced with something like this in place. As for groups of people in the server become overpowered isnt that the point of teaming up ? Why should there be a balance of power, just like real life those that team up and have the big guns will have the power. Most of the weapons mentioned are also static, crew served weapons they would not be used to kill targets of opportunity they would be used to defend, or attack fortifications.

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

Those that are against the heavy weapons and crew served weapons need to look at them and have these weapons be applied in the future not now. Of course these would not make sense to add right now when not even vehicles are added. However think far into the future a future where there are bases , heavily defended and built bandit and survivor bases reinforced with everything imaginable. In this future something like an SPG 9 would come in handy or an rpg7 or a small mortar to soften their defenses.

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

Who suggested these would be used to take out zombies ? The rpgs and heavy weapons would always be there the zombie out break would catch them off guard and these weapons would then be looted by survivors. Rpg is such a common weapon that the mere thought of it not being in dayz is crazy. It will become important once base building is introduced.

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

Think of it this way. Would a dedicated bandit group or survivor group who had a base not slowly fortify their vehicles with scavenged weapons and armor ? Welding these weapons to the backs of vechiles or emplacing them in bases for defense is not far fetched. These would not be practical for a lone survivor but groups especially large ones would thrive and put them to good use.

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

So heavy weapons are not stored in military bases ? so military weapons and vehicles are not manufacturered unless you go to war with a formal army that has vehicles ? No armies store these things and have them just in case. Seeing how there is over half a dozen military bases in the map its not far fetched to think somewhere in those bases some of these weapons would exist.

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

How are 30+ pound weapons that require 2 people , need time to be deployed and have heavy ammunition run and gun ? BTW I am not advocating anything such as tanks just very common crew served or stationary weapons that are already commonly found all over the world. One merely has to look at places where there are no rule of law such as syria and see how people have adapted and used these weapons. As you can see these "heavy" weapons would be common and useful if people are organized enough.

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

To get back on topic here is another essential base and perimeter defense weapon. The NSV machinegun. and or M2 machinegun These two heavy beasts would be idea for base defense especially once vehicles and helicopters are introduced. These would make for excellent AA emplacements to stop an enemy squad from landing on top of your base .

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

As stated above these weapons do not increase the potential of pvp anymore than a mosin does. These weapons would be like trophies for organized bandit and survivor groups and they would allow them to either take on or defend their bases. Above all they would add much needed variety to the game and add even more depth to dayz.

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

These weapons would not magically disappear. While a lone wolf would not be bothered with these things an organized group of survivors or bandits would absolutely utilize them. One just has to look at parts of the world where there is no rule of law and see that the groups in power have these heavy , or crew served weapons.

Glock 18 just out of curiosity

Well the glock 18 was never available for sale to regular civilians in the US. Only Police, military and government agencies can buy it for a mere 590 dollars. Even then most don't buy it. Glock 18 is pretty rare throughout the world it seems, there seems to be little to no desire for a fully automatic pistol in LE agencies.
  20. Vehicles should be as rare as they are in real life. Hmm they should be everywhere. They should also not all be functioning most would need some type of repair.

How to REALLY solve 3pp issue

To be honest I would be satisfied if they merely did not render players your character could not see while in third person view. People do not have a fundamental hate towards tpv they hate the exploit and cheating that comes from it.

Glock 18 just out of curiosity

Aren't glock 18s extremely rare ? I thought it was a failed PDW concept that nobody bought .

    Blaze B95 Rifle

I wonder now that the b95 is in game if they will remove the ability for the mosin nagant to take the long range scope. B95 can easily take any hunting or tactical optics meanwhile the mosin would require heavy machining and gunsmithing to put a short eye relief scope.

    Blaze B95 Rifle

Being able to lob a round out at that range and being able to hit an object are two things. You can lob a .22lr out to 2000m also but you aren't going to hit anything.
  25. Hah I like you. But seriously you might have your priorities wrong, Pooping comes first before dayz.
