Everyone hates hackers yet they support frankie.

We all very well know that every small arm in the world has eventually been suggested in the forum everything from the practical to the impractical. However one area has been poorly ignored and that is heavy weapons and crew served weapons. Nobody seems to be talking about these weapons even though they would be far more prevalent than say a fancy western sniper rifle or a 5k dollar hunting rifle like the Blaser 95. So lets talk about these heavy weapons and discuss on how if they would fit at all. You can't very well talk about heavy weapons in a russian setting without mentioning the most prolific rocket launcher in the world. RPG 7 The good ol RPG7 is extremely abundant throughout the world and would easily be found in chenarus. SPG 9 This recoiless rifle is a soviet era relic that has found its way into every soviet bloc country and nearly half of the world. The sheer versatility of this weapon has led to it being adopted by dedicated armys and resistance groups all over the globe. 60 mm mortar The 60mm mortar is perhaps one of the oldest and most effective indirect fire weapons in the world. The weapon is complicated enough to allow for extremely precise shots but simple enough that an untrained farmer in Afghanistan can use it to pester a Coalition base. If this weapon were to be adopted into dayz it would need a far more complicated method of use and not the point and click artillery system seen in Arma. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y84kW-rN61o That system would be adequate. The sheer versatility of mortars in the game would be amazing. They could be used for base assaults, perimeter defense of a base by having the weapon pointed at previous enemy firing positions and more importantly its ammo would be invaluable with the upcoming crafting system. The mortars themselves would prove to be a valuable tool for crafting IED's that would be triggered using tripwires, other explosives or electronic detonators. Now these IEds would open up a whole new dimension of gameplay options. - Lay an IEd on a road to ambush cars - Lay tripwired IEDS all over your built base to alert you of zombies or enemy bandits entering your base. - Booby trap bodies with ieds to kill or pester nosy people. So lets talk what other realistic and likely heavy weapons could you see coexisting in the dayz universe and would add to the gameplay.

Heavy weapons should be treated like that. Context menu to deploy pieces of the weapon down such as tripods and then you can mount the actual weapon on the base. Bases of weapons such as a tripod should be weldable to a vehicles.

I would like the LRS on the B95 and not the mosin.

He cheated in the past therefore he is a scumbag. The double standard people have for him and other regular hackers is perplexing. -

One has to wonder why the mod in these forums and on reddit protect Frankie -
Another positive of early mod support is if and when rocket and team decide to shift and focus on console development. The community would still crank out amazing content despite the team no longer caring about pcs.
-
Orlok does bring up good points. Still hope it's a top priority for the team though. Bohemia Interactive and modding go hand in hand together.
-
Seems people are concerned that the mods would take away population from the vanilla game. Honestly this is a very valid concern, the community would make a much better product and game so of course it will get more players.
-
Epoch was a mod of dayz. One that completely outshined vanilla dayz. Also whats wrong with that crafting ? it seems as robust as Rusts base building mechancis and atm Rust sets the gold standard for base building.
-
Thought that required gathering resources and then crafting the required items to build a base.
-
I agree the weapons do not have their correct MOA values. Mosin is far too accurate for what it would be in real life, m4 is far too inaccurate same with the sks.
-
The mods for Dayz mod were miles ahead of what the base mod offered. Base building, economy systems, reworked zombies, etc. The mod itself was way way way behind what even the most rudimentary mods accomplished.
-
Modding was available right away, heck took like 3 days before people ported all the arma 2 content over. Now imagine if they did the same with dayz SA. We would have the community making faster content adding more features than the devs and like in all cases the quality of the work from the community is always higher, just look at ACE.
-
Being done with Arma 3 and the community is pushing out way more content than Bohemia.
-
How would mods slow development if the community themselves would make it.

If You Could Add Anything To DayZ What Would You Add And Why?

That is all. realistic ballistics , realistic damage, realistic gunplay. No more easy mode sniping. -
Weapon accuracy, handling and characteristics should all be fixed before they up the damage.

Great ........... Respawning zombies were terrible. What ever happened to removing all the zombies from a town and then taking it over. -
Perfect for defending a base also. set up ranges and coordinates for popular shooting positions people use for attacking your base such as tree lines, hill tops. Write these down. Then when attacked, you can quickly go to the set up mortar punch in the coordinates and fire on the would be attackers.
-
Tanks with weapons no. Armored unarmed vehicles that fit the russian setting such as the brdm Maybe
-
I rather find heavy weapons and then have to manually mount them in the backs of pick ups or other civilian vehicles.
-
Nothing would suddenly blow up. Those mortars take skill and time to set up, fire and adjust.
