Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
gibonez replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
This thread is still going wow. I say let the man go home he clearly misses his family and wishes to move back home. Lets please stop pretending like Rocket does all of the work at Dayz, the dev team that seems to be constantly growing is going to do just fine without him. So relax all is fine, -
Now we have zeds respawning... what about the loot ?
gibonez replied to Rancor's topic in General Discussion
Zombie respawning is stupid. They are janky and really add nothing at all to the game. Sad to say but dayz would be better off without them. Less server strain, less jank, higher player counts . -
Is circlestrafing/zigzagging ever going to be fixed?
gibonez replied to MagneticToast's topic in General Discussion
I would like to have both. Give me ACE features like MOA adjustments, weapon resting, bipod deploying, realistic sway and recoil, wind, stamina, blood trails and more and in addition to that I would also like a re hauled movement and animation system that makes the game feel more fluid and lifelike and that affects player behavior by making them subconsciously move and act in a more natural manner. Sprinting for 100s of miles a day at the speed of an olympic sprinter regardless of weight carried, being able to have the twitch muscles of a robot all seem really out of place to me. Wish something like Euphoria was set up that hands down feels and looks like the most realistic character movement in games. -
Is circlestrafing/zigzagging ever going to be fixed?
gibonez replied to MagneticToast's topic in General Discussion
They seem to be focused on making realism an important aspect atleast in the long term. Weight system, stamina all will be coming eventually it is only natural for the movement to get a complete re-haul that is more realistic. -
Is circlestrafing/zigzagging ever going to be fixed?
gibonez replied to MagneticToast's topic in General Discussion
Nobody I repeat nobody on the planet can switch directions as fast a an ingame character does in dayz, atleast not without tripping over himself. also these arent college athletes training for the combine these are just survivors or bandits competing for food and resources, and any survivalist will tell you when trying to survive most important thing to do is conserve energy. so yea you would never see a survivor attempting to dodge bullets by circle straffing or switching directions anywhere near as fast as you can in game. The movement in dayz lacks any sense of realism or weight and that itself is a problem, straffing should not be completely responsive it should be something pre planed and though out and once done should require you to complete the move before going in another direction. -

gibonez replied to MagneticToast's topic in General Discussion
That being said you would agree that the current method for movement has no weight nor is it realistic ? -
Is circlestrafing/zigzagging ever going to be fixed?
gibonez replied to MagneticToast's topic in General Discussion
Possible perhaps but is it practical in combat or has it ever been done before probably not. Circle strafing or strafing in general in real life just results with you falling down on your face. Simply put when you press a or d on the keyboard you should not side step at full speed but instead at walking distance. -
Is circlestrafing/zigzagging ever going to be fixed?
gibonez replied to MagneticToast's topic in General Discussion
Dayz is built on Military Sim roots, therefore it should also strife for as much realism as possible. Ignore the zombies, for all we know just like Rust they will simply remove the zombies and replace it with something else if nothing at all since zombies add 0 to the game. -

Side strafing should cause you to fall and trip if done at fast speed -
Devs, forget features, just focus on stability & release date.
gibonez replied to luzarius's topic in General Discussion
Yes because we are testing an alpha. If you wanted a complete game you should have bought one. -

gibonez replied to luzarius's topic in General Discussion
Stupid advice half the people I know stopped playing because of the lack of features and content. They need to focus on features and content first then when all that content is in then finally make it stable. -
Is circlestrafing/zigzagging ever going to be fixed?
gibonez replied to MagneticToast's topic in General Discussion
No because it is not normal behavior in real life and because nobody has ever strafed or circle strafed in combat ever. Dayz has mil sim roots strafing should therefore not be in. Atleast not in its current form . -
A lot of staff glad to see that hopeful it keeps increasing.

Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
gibonez replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
Killed the game for you perhaps but for me and countless others it made the game exciting and fun -
Wish speed loaders or aka "magazines" were not a thing for shotguns or bolt action rifles. The game badly needs a pocket slot where you can put a reasonable amount of shells or rifle rounds and then you top off from. Having to rely on speed loaders or manually tabing and loading new shells is clunky as hell.

One benefit of Duck / hunting shotguns is the ability to take 3 1/2 inch magnum duck rounds and they have modified veen chokes or other chokes giving them a tighter pattern and thus more range with buckshot slugs wont work with those guns though. I would prefer a pump action first over a semi auto such as this Remington 870.

How to deal with hackers now combat logging has been introduced?
gibonez replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
People really fail to understand what modding and hacking are. I attribute this to the influx of casual console players. Hacking = using exploits and third party software to give yourself an ingame benefit and thus ruin the fun of others. Mods = Adding wonderful community made content into the game unleashing new possibilities in gameplay, and often times fixing the mistakes done by the developers. -
Why Were The Zombies Changed So Drastically Between Now And August?
gibonez replied to King of kong's topic in General Discussion
Zombies add nothing to the game but jank and frustration. Like rust they should be removed. -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year

You guys want mod support now? Huh? -
Kiss ass
-
Seeing as the engine is built and the server infrastructure is all set up. Shouldn't allowing modding and community driven content be the #1 priority ? We all know that the community can come up with things that are 100x better and at the same time bring out that content in a much faster pace. So does anyone agree with me , shouldn't modding be priority #1 so we can once again see the community outdo themselves with mods like ACE, breaking point, Epoch, dayz 2017 , invasion 1944, hell in the pacific and any of the other dozens upon dozens of fan fantastic community mods.
-
Now that Rocket is stated to leave the team do you people now see how important mods are ? Mod support absolutely needs to be priority #1 now, I have little faith in developers and publishers but the community the wonderful modding community of Arma can fix and improve on anything even this crappy alpha.

Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
gibonez replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
This is probably a good thing guys. No need for a meltdown. All this means is people from within Bohemia you know people who have actually launched and released a completed game before will be in charge now. These people will see to it that the sluggish dev pace, and bugs are fixed in a timely manner. -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
gibonez replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
You are far too optimistic What makes you think Rocket with a new studio would be able to deliver a better open world, mil sim focused engine with a new studio. Meanwhile Bohemia has over a decade in experience, the arma 2 and 3 engine are perfectly fine for what they are. The Arma 3 in particular is daam impressive. -
can we get a statement on bases and vehicles ETA.
gibonez replied to dgeesio's topic in General Discussion
Bases will not be in for a long long long time atleast at the current pace. Shame because it should be priority #1. It keeps people invested in the game and defending , building, and maintaining a base naturally bands people together creating factions within servers.
