Perhaps have a rail system that you can use to mount western optics and accessories. It does but you know what feels even better? Do yourself a favor and try out ace mod. Learn the firing methods and how-to rest your weapon how to deploy bipeds, how to drop your rucksack and then lay your rifle on it for support. In fact anyone here who has not tried it devs included need to try ace mod and see how amazing gunplay can be within the Arma engine.

Another good option would be to turn chenarus into a complete island. And then spread the spawns around all of the coast.

Let me paint this image for you. A stock mosin is about 4 moa with surplus ammo. At 100m the rifle will randomly hit anywhere around 4 inches of the point of Impact. At 1000m the rifle will hit anywhere near 40 inches of where the point of impact is this does not include wind so the variation is even greater. Meanwhile you take a factory remington 700 and load it with factory match ammo that is widely available and cheap and you are now shooting at 1/2 moa at 100m that's half an inch. At 1000m that 5 inches of variation. This is why people choose the remington 700 as their platform for sniper rifles throughout the world. The reason army in the world would use a mosin for sniping unless they did not have the financial means to not.

Nooooooooooooo I am hoping that the silly unrealistic stuff is merely just place holders and now that the team is growing some of the Arma devs will bring their mil sim expertise and will go one step further and add ace style features. Things such as weapon resting, bipod deployment, wind, moa and mrad elevation adjustments, realistic sway and recoil and many more features that make the game realistic and better.

I would agree with that if sniping were difficult but it is not. Add ace style sniping and even 300m shots will be hard and less people will even attempt to snipe.

No such thing as a pristine mosin. Go to your local gun shop and look at the mosins they have. Those mosins are hunks of junk with pitted barrels cracked crowns, warped stocks that create pressure points on the barrel. If you do happen to find a great condition mosin then guess what that new production ar15 or AK is still far more accurate than the mosin.

Yea I think 2d scopes are the way to go. That way we can get the proper zoom levels regardless of fov settings. This will be especially important when mildot scopes are added and when we can use them to range estimate.

For the love of god people here go out and shoot a surplus mosin. They are not accurate rifles frankly they are pieces of shit Imo. But that's only because I grew up shooting remington 700s and now savage rifles. A stock mosin will not I repeat will not consistently hit steel at even 500m unless you spend quite abit of money on it customizing it. At that point its not worth it since you can achieve sub moa accuracy with a bone stock factory remington 700 or savage rifle.

What is the point of that video? That mosin is not a stock mosin that you find in game. It has trigger work, glass bedded stock, custom front sight and many other modifications along with it firing new manufacturer factory brown bear ammo not surplus ammo u find in game. So no a stock mosin will not be getting consistent hits at 1000 yards.

This is why we need ace style ballistics. With that even 300m shots are quite difficult.

That looks terrible seriously. Finding that ancient binoculars would be far harder to find in real life than finding any modern pair of binoculars. I would also like to see hunting and golf laser range finders. These usually have a max range of 1000m and have no magnification or low magnification.

The more realism is added the better. It's bad enough already that you can heal A life threatening gunshot with simple rags. Or that bullets are not affected by wind.
