    Even against a zombie horde a crossbow is useless, what are you gonna do shoot one zombie tell the rest of the zombies to hold on so you can slowly reload and then take them out ? The sound of a .223 coming out of a 20 inch barrel is not that loud shorter the barrel louder the gunshot.

    My ideal implementation of this is so there is no hardcore or regular servers. All servers are the same same hive same player base no fragmentation of players.

    Speeloaders shouldnt even be needed. I dont see why we cant reload from an ammo pool if say you put some rounds in a front shirt pocket. You reload slowly from there instead of having to have speed loaders take up inventory space.

    Absolutely a means to not fragment the community and have everyone play the same game with a great equal experience. This at the same time means devs can focus on one game not two.

    Yea I like to think the in game character is a direct reflection of yourself. If you yourself go out and spend time reading looking at skill guides on how to long range shooing in dayz then that skill should be relfected in game. Same applies to hunting, crafting or any other skill. I hate being limited by stupid in game rules hence my distaste for the dispersion and zombie spawning mechanic, they are too rng for me.

    Of course I am not arguing you can do the same with an m4. Sure you could lob rounds at 1000m with an m4 the rounds will get there and heck you might get hits on an area target but for a 1st round hit with 5.56 I don't see it. Wind is too much of a factor with 5.56 nato too light of a bullet. All I am saying its completely doable if you have an optic with enough elevation and get lucky.

    Sniper training is not the same as knowing how to shoot. Any hunter knows how to shoot precisely at extended distance. Snipers are taught how to call in airstrikes, how to do recon, how to stalk among other things that they do for missions. Any ordinary hunter can land a 1000m shot with the right weapon and some shooting experience its not that hard.

    Even 5.56 can shoot well past 1000m. .300 win mag a popular hunting and military cartridge can go to 2000m You don't need a 50 cal to shoot extreme long range the 50 cal just makes it easier. It travels that far but the damage it does at those distances is greatly reduced but still even at the low power at those ranges it will put a man down with a chest or head shot.

    There is no reason to not up the view distance to atleast ACE levels My longest kill on a player in ace was at 2400m with a tac 50 while about 900m above ground. Lucky shot and i nailed him on my 3rd shot. Longest kill with a m24 in ace was at 1200m had to max my elevation and then finally aim near the very bottom of the reticle. Stand alone needs longer view distances the fog system is terrible.

    with any set of modern turrets you dont have to take your eyes off your scope most new turrets have audible clicks and every full rotation is met with a hard click that you can tell right away. So say you need to go up 44 minutes you just keep turning until you feel 4 very hard clicks and then click 8 more times with a 1/2 mnute click turrets. when you need to go back to zero due to zero stops you just keep turning it down until it stops.

    Doubt anyone will notice and those that do will merely complain that they cannot camp the rooftops of fireastations anymore and still see around them so their point would be moot.

    I don't see why a single person cannot be as effective as a sniper spotter team. I mean a spotter does what ? watches the snipers back, gives the sniper dope or help with dope and then makes adjustment calls by following the trace of the bullet. All of those things could be done by a single shooter with experience it can be done extremely quickly and faster.

    I don't see it that way. I see it as this mod is a great way to not split the community and offer one centralized good dayz experience across the board. Having the community all play the exact same game would be nice. I don't like the idea of two different hives. This mod would be the best solution , nobody is alienated, peeking around corners is fixed, people with motion sickness can continue to play and not get sick. Everyone wins.
  21. I think the mods will probably do the exact opposite man. With the direction the game has been going I can easily see mod restoring realism in the game and making the game more hardcore. I can see immediately mods that change the sniping mechanics so its more realistic , advanced wounding mechanics with individual body parts being damaged such as the ace wounding system.

    Yea you would man. Especially in Georgia where the walking dead takes place. Beauty of a Remington 700 is since its a bolt action a good one at that, it can take the higher pressures of a 5.56 nato round even though its chambered for .223. Finding mil surp ammo in the hundreds of rounds at a time, finding hunters ammo stashes, recreational shooters stashes would be easy. There would be more ammo than you could carry

    That is because they are a military asset and a spotter can go a long way towards protecting that asset. Shooting long range is not very hard it merely requires some math, good notes, and really good optics.

    This is only because the current zombies are only a source of frustration and not a viable game mechanic. Anytime a zombie spawns out of thin air or spawns period anywhere near the vicinity of a player, when the zombie instantly locks on to you from 400m somehow seeing you prone, anytime a zombies animation are so bad it teleports through buildings and its hit detection is so bad it hits you from 12 feet away and anytime a zombie is such a pain to kill due to an inherently buggy melee system when these things happen people tend to embrace the idea of dayz without zombies.

    Absolutely these changes help restore my faith in the game and the devs. This is especially true since I don't see the game being a success with me unless it has convincing and satisfying gunplay and for the game to have that it needs to have super realistic bullet trajectories and ballistics. Adding wind helps that, what they should do next is something that would not only help save them time and make the game more satisfying is to do away with the current bullet zeroing mechanic completely. Instead of having to set the elevation adjustments for each gun at each range the devs would save time and make a better more realistic game if they merely set this function to the optics themselves. When they incorporate a scope in the game the elevation adjustments should be done in mrads, or moa depending on the optic. So adding a new scope to the game would be as simple as modeling it , giving it a reticle and zoom then looking up the real world data of the scope and allowing it to adjust the elevation adjustment by the manufacturers specifications. The weapon would then be zeroed at 100m so at 0 mils or moa of elevation it will impact at 100m. Then say they add the Vortex viper scope into the game all they have to do is go to the specs of the scope and set the maximum number of elevation for the optic. For this particular optic the maximum elevation adjustment is 64 moa so it can be adjusted 64 inches at 100m. Now depending on the weapon its used on and the ballistics for that particular weapon and its bullet drop different ranges will be different moa since each bullet and gun has their own muzzle velocity and bullet drop. Then it would be up to the community to fire the weapons and test them developing their own dope charts for the weapons.
