why doesn't the bipod fit on the mosion?!
gibonez replied to GhostSlayer (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp7zmmEgdK8 Bare in mind that this is with a superb long distance round the .408 all caliber are faithfully recreated so making a 900m shot with a .308 win or .5.56 is substantially harder. -
why doesn't the bipod fit on the mosion?!
gibonez replied to GhostSlayer (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Because you cant mount a railed bipod on a 100 year old bolt gun. The mosin is also not a sniper weapon or even a precision rifle. The mosin is a 100 year old service rifle from a completely different era, a rifle that is extremely rugged and reliable but anything but accurate due to some fundamental problems that lead to inconsistency accross multiple areas. Everything about the mosin leads to inconsistent performance thus bad accuracy everything from pressure points on the stock that by the way would be even more pronounced with added pressure of a bipod, to a poor gritty trigger, to the inconsistent quality of the rifling , to the oversized bore and finally the biggest culprit the wildly inconsistent military surplus ammo that feeds the mosin that can vary in muzzle velocity by as much as 300 fps on a single batch of ammunition leading to a huge variance in points of impact. Can we please let go of this notion that the Mosin nagant is an accurate super precise sniper rifle. The mosin nagant was not accurate or precise but it just so happened to be the most precise and accurate the Russians had at the time and that is not saying much. -
Well arm fatigue could be a gameplay factor. Holding an unsupported weapon causes strain and arm fatigue and that could in turn cause sway and unsteady aim.

Nope. Ive seen what novice shooters can do often times they completely miss paper at 10 yards.

This daam thread. Every day.... Plate carrier where can i find ? Why I cannot find LRS ? How do I find m4 ? Does the akm spawn anymore ?

what do you think of the current inventory block system?
gibonez replied to Wookieenoob's topic in General Discussion
It is a bit cumbersome but like all things I am sure it is not final. The inventory system also is lacking in realism at the moment with silly things like Vicinity and the goofy ability to sprint at full speed while having full access to your inventory. -
Bullet resistant protection actually giving bullet resistant protection

I have to agree. Arma 3 also did the same by adding armor variables to the damage model and boy does Arma 3 have an atrocious damage model as a result. Nothing is fun about shooting someone in Arma 3 10 times only to have them shrug 10 times and sprint away like nothing happened. Arma 2 damage model was such a huge improvement over the arma 3 method. -
Thoughts on the new eating and drinking system?
gibonez replied to battlerhd's topic in General Discussion
I never said it was. What I am saying is that you cant drink copious amounts of water in one shot and that I suspect the new mechanic is meant to try to force players to regularly hydrate instead of just holding it off until the last minute. 100 percent realistic of course not, but structured in reality in order to change gameplay probably. -

Because that's how the body works. You can be in a dehydrated state but consuming all of that days daily water needs immediately is impossible. Like all things you must pace yourself. The desired result is probably to have players hydrate and consume food regularly and not just hold it off until starving . -

it is perfectly fine for now. Really early work in progress but a step in the right direction especially if it now makes players actually care about hydration and food. -
Motion sickness is greatly exaggerated in order to defend their preference for a broken view perspective. Hundreds of games have had first person only for good reasons for over a decade now and not a word on motion sickness outside of very few games with restrictive fovs, meanwhile dayz comes out and somehow its motion sickness simulator 4000.

So true imagine how much more content the game could have had without a SP campaign. I believe the same applies to Arma too, there is really no need for a SP campaign especially when the vast majority does not even try it at all.

I got a solution that just might work. Turn off all of the audio.

The fly and fly sounds are perfectly fine.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
gibonez replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
But neither of those has or is adopted by any western military as far as I know. I know the Kriss Vector is pretty much now a civilian firearm marketed towards mall ninjas who think it looks cool. -

Has player speed been slowed down to realistic levels now?

Hopefully very soon. -
You read wrong. Net neutrality would be a good thing

A source of unnecessary clunkyness in Dayz? Inertia when moving.
gibonez replied to franzuu's topic in General Discussion
We.need more of this not less. -
They would adapt just like they did wish stamina and sway. Plus dayz and arma are mod friendly nothing stops then from making a mod that puts wall peeking back

M4 is a western rifle in a non western setting thus helo crash spawn and rarity. The m4 is also much more modular than the akm and the in game akm is far too modular. The akm in game should not take side rail accessories as only the rare akmn had a side rail.

That mods feature should be implemented directly into the new engine that bohemia is developing. What better time than now to fix a problem that has plagued bohemia games for so long.

Ghillies are still pretty early they need to make it so if you start any one piece of the ghillie you have to suffer the negatives of the full suit. So for instance wearing just one piece of the suit forces you to no longer have a backpack. This would also force people to strive for the entire get up instead of being satisfied with a tiny portion.

Don't see the point and not realistic for the region. A better approach at simulating the .44 magnums benefits would be to add .38 special in the game then make .357 magnum hard to find and raise it's lethality closer to it's real world values. .38 special and .357 magnum usually function in the same weapons so there would be no need for additional weapons to justify the ammo addition unlike 44 mag
