What are they going to do against "Server Loot Transfer"?
gibonez replied to Wayze's topic in General Discussion
Yet another reason the public hive does not work. Private hives truly do solve everything. -
One thing is for certain though. Dayz needs a backstory and origin quick.
-
It really is. Especially when you consider that this. and Somehow magically affect a weapons accuracy. They are pieces of plastic, that is all.

Anyone worried there will be too many ammo types ?
gibonez replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
That is the single reason why I wan't IEDS in the game. Set up a pipe bomb on the road, with a tripwire then lay on a nearby ambush point and lay down with a pkm or akm ready to ambush cars once they are disabled by the bomb. A pipebomb would not explode a car but instead probably pop its tires and disable it. -

That would be useful. Take out all the black powder out of shotgun shells , fill a pipe bomb with it. Make make shift ieds with them. -
So are the scope magnifications going to be fixed any time soon?
gibonez replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
You arent alone. -
I wouldn't mind a mini game for surgery.
-
:/ surgeon simulator kicking in when trying to perform surgery and removing bullets or closing deep bleeding would be pretty funny. As for gunshot wounds I wish the rags would simply slow down the bleeding and to fully stop the bleeding you would be required to go through a more indepth healing method that required much longer than 10 seconds. Perhaps the rags could saturate the blood slowly then once soaked you bled at full strength required another rag.

What clothing set/weapons would you add if you could?
gibonez replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I know I am just giving you an explanation as to why every time you make a gun suggestion there are always half a dozen replies asking wtf immediately. -
Yea sure why not. I hate the rag instal heal too. Being shot in the neck should not be cured by simple putting a tshirt rag on it. I am not talking down or demeaning cod players, its a fine fun game that is in a completely different genre. All I am saying is that the unrealistic attachment system in COD has no place in Stand Alone.

All of those are not even needed if the game functioned like it should and aiming down sights zoom was the same for everyone regardless of fov settings. -

While your logic makes sense. I doubt the majority of people here would wan't to see some of the weapons listed. Sr25, and the ebr probably don't have a chance in hell of being added. -
Current run speed makes you run like this Thats the speed even though you have a rifle, tons of clothing, potentially armor, and a backpack full of gear. What we need is speed to be determined by what you are wearing. Heavily loaded character = runs slowly , gets tired fast. Lighter character who is packing light to go out on a hunt or to scavenge = runs much faster, is not fatigued easily.

No it wouldn't The main attraction for dayz was its difficulty it got famous because of its mil sim gameplay and its perma death features. The harder it gets the more appeal the game receives.

gibonez replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
Adjusting FOV is a fundamental pc game feature. The problem is not the FOV settings its the programming that allows the fov you are set to affect the magnification when aiming. -
Dayz is not a game. It is the counter, the anti game it does'nt and shouldn't give a fuck if the player is having fun. The mechanics in the game should mirror real life and should be there to punish the player and make the game harder not to hold his hand.

gibonez replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
They unfourtunately. are No they are not. They wont be fixed so long as different FOV settings change how much the perceived magnification is. They need to lock in the perceived magnification so its the right value regardless of FOV settings. -
Tutorial: What to do when someone kills you on your own server.
gibonez replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
yea seeing over cover and walls is such a problem. -
What I am actually more curious about is when is dayz set ? Is it current day or is it somewhere in the 1990s ?

Same thing. Battlefield also has a universal attachment system where accessories go on incorrect weapons. But more importantly both games share an unrealistic accessory system where the accessories you mount on a gun affect the firearms mechanical accuracy among other things . Like the following bf4 accessories - Compensator - Reduces recoil good thats realistic but then it also decreases accuracy somehow ? magic maybe. -Heavy barrel - The rigid barrel reduces weapon dispersion - Potentially fine a rigid stout barrel does increase accuracy - the bad it somehow increases recoil ??? - Suppressors - Reduces sound profile = good , Somehow again increases dispersion - bad While to be honest I don't care for the unrealistic attachment system in BF4 it is perfectly fine because BF4 like COD is an ultra unrealistic arcade shooter. Stand alone is not, stand alone is a survival game with a mil sim heritage anything that is not authentic or realistic imo is completely unacceptable.

Experimental - You Can Zoom While Looking Down Sights!
gibonez replied to Admiral_69's topic in General Discussion
Ic so the lower the FOV is the higher the perceived magnification ? High fov = 0.5 x 3.3 Low fov = 1.5x 3.3 -

gibonez replied to Admiral_69's topic in General Discussion
Isn't that also dependent on what your fov is set at ? -
What Do You Think About The Long Spawning Time ?
gibonez replied to Sir Trolle's topic in General Discussion
it slows em down ? -
Time. Arma 3 engine was probably simply not ready at the time that stand alone development started. It is unfortunate because of how much better arma 3 is and how much of an improvement some of the core engine improvements are. Heck the advanced bullet penetration ballistics alone could have resulted in some amazing gameplay once base building and fortification was a thing in stand alone. However the folks at bohemia are talented and I am sure some of the desireable features from Arma 3 will be ported to Stand alone if not all of the features.

Pretty much. I understand their concerns about the player not being a special forces soldier with 40 years of experience. However the devs can simulate that with how the gun handles thus achieve the same result at the end. You don't need to make the guns fire in a big magical cone or have attachments that decrease the size of the cone to achieve that. - Weapon sway - Weapon resting - A stamina system or fatigue system - Simulated trigger pull Ie. Some weapons with notoriously long trigger pulls have slight delays between mouse clicking and firing the gun. All those can achieve the same result but at the same time the above features would not frustrate skilled players like RNG cone of fires do.
