    What could be more pressing than something that directly affects gameplay. realistic movement speed, good shooting and pvp are the most critical elements in the game. Adding hunting, tents and a bunch of other useless things wont matter if the pvp is garbage and the game is unrealistic with everyone running like usant bolt.

    It would just make you not look at your stuff in the middle of a field. People would take cover then look at their inventory.

    Question is would this be something you would do if you didn't expect imminent danger ? no you would just crouch down and open your backpack to rummage in it.
  4. I am sure people will agree with me that the shooting mechanics in stand alone are vastly inferior to the mods mechanics. The gunplay mechanics feel insanely crappy in stand alone but there is one problem . I cannot exactly pin point why ? The mod had armas great gunplay with it but stand alone has some kind of new system that leaves a sour taste in my mouth. There does not seem to be a big general issue that is the root cause of the terrible gunplay mechanics but overall it just feels poor and bad. Can anyone hopefully enlighten me as to why the shooting mechanics feel so crappy in stand alone especially compared to the mod ? or are they the same and I am just imagining things ?

    It would not drive anyone anywhere. all It would do is fix the sprint speed and player movement speed to more accurate levels faster thus no longer being a problem in the future.
  6. If you havent already try it . Sooooo much fun and most of all its so rewarding. Things simply behave how you would expect them to in real life. Bullets are deadly, explosives are nasty and shoot out sharpnel, there seems to be more tactical freedom.
  7. turn the balota airfield into a civilian airport. No military loot at all. Then add a military loot halfway up the map perhaps at noby or back at stary.
  8. Whats your point I can kill a grizzly bear with a pellet rifle or a .22lr too . Anything can get killed by anything else the point is a crossbow does not in any way do more damage than a single 5.56 round regardless of location.

    why not fix it now. the game is being tested after all so enjoyment should really not be a factor that should be taken into consideration.
  10. Whatever it is it is really good and borrows all of the best things from dayz while holding none of the bad.

    I was mainly referring to recoil management in comparison to the new changes. ar kick very softly and even children can control them , fire them accurately is another matter completely.

    What gets to me is the sheer speed of the player when sprinting. Its slightly above 14mph. Sprinting at 14mph for as long as you want with a backpack and gear weighing you down is totally immersion breaking.

    Yea shooting an ar15 is almost comically easy. A child can easily control the recoil of an ar. Yet in game the ar has substancial recoil + it fires blackpowder bullets for some reason.

    Yea this completely. Guns deviate even without wind being a factor. This natural deviation in a mosin is what causes it to shoot 6 foot groups at 800m while a far more precise platform like a remington 700 can shoot a 10 inch group at the same range.
  15. Used to hunt defenseless animals that cannot fight back or usually are too stupid to and just run away and slowly bleed to death. Used to fight wars yes hundreds of years ago by ancient people. Not sure what your bayonet comment is for.

    Yes inventory does reduce damage, but the problem is nobody knows how or what type of items do it. It is a very inconsistent system and frankly it needs to not be a factor. A gunshot will go through that can of beans and still enter your heart with no problem.

    Even if the character had Parkinson you would probably still be able to accurately engage players and zombies at 5-100m. Sway only seems to be a factor for shots past 200m for me.
  18. Easy solution would be a power punch and jab system. Hold the mouse button down for a charge up hook punch. If it connects to the head = knockout. Simply tapping the punch button = jabs that hurt but do not cause knockouts. Missing a hook causes you to be vulnerable for .5 seconds while you recover from the swing.

    well yea but isn't that usually the ranges where firefights happen and where aiming an deviation play a role in dayz and arma ?

    I am glad so many here have seen what the bigger problem is. The bigger problem is the lack of animations for alot of the ordinary things done in the game. We need animations for entering and leaving vehicles, for opening doors, for looking at our inventory, for looting bodies. We even need animations for gunshots, we need to show through an animation that the player is bleeding and favoring a side due to a wound.

    Sway needs to be increased imo. Sway needs to be increased but deviation cut down to realistic levels. If a gun is a 2 moa gun at 100 yards then make it deviate by 2 inches at 100 yards. Resting your weapon or using bipods to cut down on sway should be a big factor in the game. Because outside of a few skilled people keeping a gun from swaying from a standing position is quite hard.

    The problem is particularly important because of where dayz came from and the pedigree of the company that is developing it. The mod of dayz had buttery smooth gunplay and realistic weapons and consistent damage. Meanwhile standalone is a unrealistic arcade mess.
  23. so whats your point ? If an item is useless in real life it should be in game. A crossbow while not completely useless in real life would be pretty crappy against players armed with guns and the damage the arrows and bolts do would be minimal compared to the rifle bullets. Balance should not even be considered in dayz. It just ends up screwing the game up.
  24. I meant it more in a way for you to try the mod not to disagree with you. I think you would really dig the mod and as a complete package its pretty darn amazing. It has all of the features the community wants out out of an arma game yet bohemia forgets or does not want to add. Give it a try if you can you will probably have a ton of fun once you get past the learning curve.
