    As-50_Thermal and MP5K [ Standalone ]

My hopes are kinda down as to what dayz will turn out to be. At first I assumed the vast majority of guns would be iron sighted civilian weapons, and military firearms around the region. The emphasis on western weapons led me to believe optics would play a minor role only seen in hunting weapons and a select few high end military loot. Sadly this is not the case, the accesory system seems to be pretty universal and it looks like they design the accessories not with realism in mind but with versatility in mind. LRS on the mosin, pu scopes on the sks makes me sad. Really was hoping for a mostly iron sight dayz set in a world where optics would have been super rare and most would have already been broken.

    More features = Less KoS?

That would just change the behavior or tactics used to kos. Players will then just kill the enemy player then sprint away to safety. Only to return to do the same thing once things have settled down. Or they will extend the ranges in which they engage away from zombies. Ultimately people will behave the same as they always have and continue to kos.
  3. That 2-3 shot statistic is usually on enemy combatants right ones that are hopped up on drugs and or adrenaline ? Would you guess that an unsuspecting sober person would get knocked out and incapacitated from a single 5.56 to the chest or gut ?

    More features = Less KoS?

that is a very popular belief around here but it is completely false. More features simply mean more features. It will do absolutely nothing to stop kos.

    Thread in defense of banditry

There is no real struggle to get gear in wasteland, plus you have a team that helps you. Tjhere are vehicles everywhere also. Getting geared up and surviving in dayz is a pretty challenging thing at times and quite satisfying, this adds tension to the pvp and its why it is so popular. In wasteland within 2 seconds of spawning you find a car, get a weapon and are on your way to your favorite pvp spot. Meanwhile in dayz you have quite a bit to do before you reach that level.
  6. I understand and yea I agree that it should do more damage but what I am saying in terms of a human taking the damage and within the context of realism there would be really no discernible difference from a guy getting shot in the chest from an m4 or from a 20 inch varmint rifle. for the sake of realism both wounds should be equally deadly . Perhaps at extended ranges the velocity increase would be noticeable.

Perma death + the mil sim aspects made the pvp more meaningful and thus more fun. People loved the feeling they got when they saw another player, their heart racing, the fear of dying and losing all progress. You don't get that from vanilla arma or wasteland.

Hero's pick there own spawn locations.

terrible idea, there should never ever ever ever be an ability to pick your spawn in dayz.

Should we have an animation for backpacks ?

We need more players like you. The game needs to be brutal and downright frustrating at times. Realism makes the game more satisfying and fun.

Cmon man pvp has always been and will be the main attraction in Dayz. Zombies were an after thought and a cheap gimmick, survival is absolutely atrocious at the moment and when fully fleshed out will still take a backseat to pvp. People buy dayz because of the pvp not the zombies. The good arma 2 pvp is the only reason dayz mod took off and became such a big hit. For many it was the first time they ever played a large world pvp game with "realistic" guns and ballistics they were hooked on this new experience.

Should we have an animation for backpacks ?

That is a load of dog shit and you know it. PVP is the main attraction here and has always been and will be the main reason play the game. The survival elements are just a bonus or shall we say a cherry on top. Those other useless features such as hunting will mean nothing when only 10 percent of players use them , the rest will remain doing what they do now , shooting people for fun.

I don't do it for the lulz. I do it because I find fun and enjoyment out of making people start from scratch.

how exactly is it childish ?
  14. Only difference we would really see is in a slight increase in muzzle velocity and thus more range. Damage should be pretty darn close if not exactly the same.

Where does this line of though come from ? What makes you think we are children ? I find it is usually the younger players who wish to join others and group up. I can assure you I am far from a kiddie and I enjoy shooting people for no apparent reason.

It depends on where the pellets hits, but right now shooting someone in the chest ruins every single piece of kit on them. Backpack, shirt, jacket, pants and any item inside of em.

    Thread in defense of banditry

well there would be damage to the chest and items within the chest area but not ruined backpack or items in the backpack ruined, the pants should also not be damaged if the pellets land within the chest area. Sorta strange and obviously bugged how it works right now, its like every single item in the body is damaged as soon as you shoot a person with a shotgun. The m4 is a big culprit too the m4 seems to shred inventory items for some reason too.

    Thread in defense of banditry

It's quite terrible for me at the moment. 1 shotgun blast to the chest of an enemy , ruins everything including every piece of clothing and item within the clothing. We need a detailed system where clothing items do not absorb any damage but the bullets hit location determines what item gets damaged. heart shot hits so the item that is in your shirt in the top right corner gets damaged.

    Fresh spawns complaining about KoS

why though. I honestly think we will not see peoples playstyles change until we get private hives. Once we get private hives people will start to form factions, and groups and people will be civil to each other within these factions but not each other. Right now with the public hive I just shoot everyone because I know there are no factions and little chance of joining them and not getting shot in the back in the process.

How would you describe us then ? Murderers ? I kill people in game to ruin their progress I get some satisfaction from knowing they now have to start from scratch. I don't even bother looting their body anymore due to the item damage mechanic i just leave the body there as bait.
  21. My biggest problem with the m4 doing so little damage is that eventually when the game gets a bolt action rifle in .223/5.56 it will be completely useless if it does the same damage as the m4 as it should since its the same caliber. The 5.56 should incapacitate people with 1 solid chest shot. It should severely hurt people with a single stomach shot. People really under estimate how nasty and damaging the round is. The 5.56 is a flat shooting super fast cartridge that has excellent ballistics even out to 1000m. The only area that the 5.56 kinda lacks in is how easily the wind is able to push the bullet in flight this is the sole reason why long range shots are hard with a 5.56 rifle, thankfully newer high grain boat tail bullets such as the 77 grain sierra match king fix this allowing for much easier shots at 1000m or more.
  22. Because apparently the police dept in chenarus are stuck in the 1940s. The police departments should be full of sub machineguns and pistols no rifles. Sks should be found in homes along with mosins. Sadly the mosin is the only weapon in the game that sort of cuts down on the rng. Only weapon that is even close to the real life accuracy of the real weapon thus you don't really feel like you are rolling dice when you shoot it. Shooting the m4 at anything past 100m you will get 1 out of 5 hits for some reason .

    Fresh spawns complaining about KoS

The sooner people realize that kos is a vital part of the game the better off they will be and less angry they will get.
  24. Never. Pistols should be far more common and magazines need to spawn with them.

Allow crossbow to be put in backpacks.

crossbows are huge, heck most crossbows are bigger than assault rifles.
