lol Talk about overkill. Fixed wing planes and helicopters are overkill for the size of the map and in reality do not fit with the survival theme of the game. Perhaps if the map was 10x large sure and even then It would be immersion breaking.

As a person that eats 60 eggs every 5 days Yes. Add eggs in game.

Being indoors would not guarantee a weapon being pristine. Say someone had a brand new mosin and shot a dozen rounds of corrosive ammo then kept it in storage for 50 years after not cleaning it well enough. The outside of the rifle would be new but the barrel would be pitted and pretty bad.
-
The carbine addition would accomplish the same thing as my idea of having a model with the bent bolt and one without one. With more work of course but the carbine version of the mosin is nice.

Full auto weapons have nothing to do with Cernarus atmosphere, nor survival lifestyle
gibonez replied to lucianpin's topic in General Discussion
Think the whole point of the central loot system is to have real time information on every item in the game. If it works it would allow them to restrict items however they see fit but the main potential benefit I see is the end to dupping and the ability for them to see who was duplicating items. -
Will admins to have option for a dexterity free server?

Probably not. -
Heck even bolt actions jam. Would be nice if a bad conditioned mosin got a sticky bolt and the player could not eject the round until he right clicked the weapon and and animation played with him banging the bolt to release it.

Full auto weapons have nothing to do with Cernarus atmosphere, nor survival lifestyle

I can agree there are too many military weapons in the game . This is even worse due to there being far far too many static military spawn points. -
Really hope they go with a two pronged approach when it comes to weapon condition. 1. Weapon mechanical condition = determines the guns ultimate accurate cannot be improved 2. Weapon cleanness = More foul the weapon is the worse its accuracy can be cleaned and restored to the best possible accuracy out of the gun mechanically but it sitll falls within the weapons mechanical accuracy.

I thought they were striving for realism when it came to mounts. I thought that was the reasoning for some optics not taking scopes yet due to incorrect mounts. If possible I would love to see different colors randomly be assigned to the mosin at spawn well not completely random but colors similiar to the colors they have come in in real life. Perhaps possible perhaps not but it would be a nice addition only if it were possible and not much work.

North-West airfield dying? Who misses the NE airfeild?
gibonez replied to dayzzsyd's topic in General Discussion
I don't the less static military spawn points in the map the better. Ideally only the north west airfield would contain a static military loot location and the other mil loot would be dynamic. -
Yea having it spawn with the pu scope + camo wrap is what I was thinking. Chances are if they do add the SVT the pu wont go on it. The pu mount for the svt 40 is completely different.
-
Yea so long as it sticks to reality the variations would be fine. However if such a system is added hopefully simply using a weapon repair kit does not automatically make the weapon a super accurate weapon. Ideally I would like two statuses for weapons. Weapon condition and Weapon cleanliness. Weapon condition refers to non changeable mechanical condition of the firearm , things like pitted barrels , bad rifling affecting the weapons ultimate accuracy Cleanliness referring how dirty the firearm is with dirty guns losing accuracy but a cleaning kit fixes that.
-
There is no universal kit for mounting scopes on any weapon. AFAIK you would need a specific rail for each weapon system + machining the bolt to take said mount. Neither of these is feasible in a world without civilization
-
Well the quality of war time production Mosins did vary dramatically due to how swiftly they were needed and the availability of parts but one other huge factor to add into why the mosins accuracy would vary substantially is time. Say that you have 10 sks rifles or 10 mosins and you have 10 different people shoot them over the course of 40 years those rifles will all be in different condition especially when you factor in that these rifles typically fire corrosive ammo. A variance in accuracy for weapons especially military surplus weapons and older military weapons makes sense and is realistic. End result is each weapon pickup has more personality.
-
I thought the current in game mosin was not drilled and tapped for a pu scope thus mounting it would not be possible. The amount of work to separate make true sniper variant of the mosin with the bent bolt by adding a straight bolt mosin would be worth it. Especially since it now offers the game a basic low tier rifle with little to no customization and questionable accuracy just like the lee enfield in the mod. Currently the mosin as it stands is too versatile.
-
Guess what that is how real life works. although the variances in a bad rifle and a bad rifle among newer production guns is very small. A top shootng hunting rifle for example will group sub 1 moa while a poorly machined one within the same rifle line might group at 2 moa its only a difference of 2 inches. However for something like a Mosin that accuracy varies alot.
-
The sako barrel sure did improve accuracy. I personally would rather they make the mosin in game now not take any optics including the pu. Then add a sniper version of the mosin with the bent bolt that spawns rarely and can take the pu scope.
-
Not a weapon a choice but merely the best the soviets had at the time for that role. Even back then with a pristine mosin the other bolt action rifles involved in the conflict were all more accurate than the mosin even the Arisakka. Accuracy is consistency, due to the mosins inconsistent machining process over the years, inconsistent quality and variety of military surplus ammo and inconsistent pressure points on the barrel because of the stock you end up with a weapon system that overall is not really accurate. Age has only a tiny bit to do with the Mosin nagants accuracy but the design of the rifle and quality of military surplus ammo do.
-
Yea thats the point. It shoots great for a 100 year old weapon but it not as consistent a new production weapon. Currently in game the mosin is entirely too accurate, the mosin is about as accurate as a 4000 dollar custom bolt gun from a premier precision rifle maker like GAP. Ideally the mosin should be 3-5 moa still plenty of accurate for a service rifle and more in line to what it does in real life while no longer sub moa like it is now.
-
So you are telling me every single mosin out in the world has the exact same accuracy ? It would not be RNG it would be in the description displaying the state of the weapon and the difference between say a pristine weapon and a poor condition rifle would be a matter of only a few inches at 100 yards. It is just a way to diversify the weapons loot in a way that is realistic. Finding a tack shooting mosin should be rare in dayz highly coveted due to the ease of finding ammo and solid accuracy.
-
Wind is coming.
-
The only benefit of heavy bullets is they buck the wind better thus less variance at long distance. Lighter loads have a faster time of flight and shoot flatter. Once wind is added if they do go with multiple rounds the heavier bullets should require alot less windage adjustment.
-
It won't thankfully. If it is anything like Arma 3 the sway is only a small piece of an overall gameplay mechanic just be patient and see what else they add to mitigate the sway or you know don't sprint everywhere. Just because your particular mosin is accurate does not mean most are. There is a reputation for mosins not being accurate and its a well deserved one it is due to multiple factors from the guns design, its age all the way to the inconsistent quality of military surplus ammo. If the game were aiming for realism the mosin would be a 3-5 moa gun that brings up weapon variance as a game mechanic, having mosins vary greatly in accuracy just like they do in real life would be a good game mechanic.
