No it does not have to be complete and utter realism. They can strike a balance. Things such a more in depth medical system that has semi permanent injuries along with animations for them A stamina and weight system that affects all aspects of player movement including speed and distance that can be traveled Those tiny things add alot to the game and would still fit within the sense of being a sim. People often think when people refer to sim they mean completely exactly like real life when it is often not the case. It would be impossible to mimic or put every thing from real life in game hence why we simulate some of the aspects that are relevant for survival and combat. -
True. I just tend to associate those rifles as international rifles because they have been adopted and have been seen and are being seen in so many wars throughout the years. The g3 and the Fn Fal are just like the Ak a rifle that is seen in just about every mayor conflict.

Plenty rifles that are plausable in Eastern Europe without the need to add western rifles. Fn Fal G3 M78 zastava Saiga .308 Sig 542 SVD of course and lastly The Vepr .308 I am sure I missed a ton of European and eastern european battle rifles.

You murder people in the game and then steal them. Cannibalism will probably be included into the game in the future. Yet everyone is throwing a shit fit over a tiny bit of poo. Especially silly since we have no idea what the system will look like or what gameplay elements it will include.

Sure why not. Reality has a way of balancing itself out. Making the game completely as realistic would do a far better job at balancing the game than stupid dispersion mechanics and arcade damage mechanics like the ones seen now. -

Yup. Sniping is insanely easy most of the time. That can be fixed though with lots of complexity. and by simulating real life.

Nothing wrong with sniping as long as it is hard. Thats the problem in dayz. sniping while in reality is one of the hardest if not the hardest ways to engage a target is the easiest way in dayz. You know there is an inherent problem with the gameplay when sniping is far easier than shooting someone up close.

Just becaue the game feels and reacts like you would expect it to does not magically make it a mil sim. There is nothing wrong with mil sim elements in dayz. It only helps to create immersion and makes the world that more believable. -

Some guns have unique recoil impulses. The gun recoiling up and the the left is quite normal and perfectly fine. It is fine so long as the recoil is consistently the same .

It is not too terrible yet. The weapons added in the game thus far are civilian heavy focused and nothing is jarring yet. We have a heavy focus on hunting and civilian firearms weapons I would expect in the Czech Republic where the weapon inspiration is taking place. More russian and russian military weapons are sure to come they are just not finished yet. The AKM, AK74 and the SVD are on their way.

Alright, I am finally concerned about the standalone

Here is proof that the engine is plenty capable to handle rendering players clearly at distances much further away that is in dayz. My position What I could see What it looked like from fpv zoomed in, notice how it renders the players right in the middle of the screen even though they are so far. Here is the same group of soldiers when viewed through a laser range finder. Here are various soldiers at different distances. So as you can see players were rendering at distances of almost 4km in chenarus. If I had changed it to a map such as takistan I could have seen players out to much further distances. The engine is perfectly capable of rendering players at long distance. I hope dayz eventually allows the players to be able to choose what distance players and objects render at super long view distances and player render distances offer amazing gameplay opportunities not to mention are cool as heck. -

In ACE mod for arma 2 I can get players to fully render and in high quality at 5km + While the unity engine is amazing and rust is also great it does not have good view distances . People stop rendering past 200 or 300m. The single biggest reason why the engine is perfect for dayz is because of the amazing modding community . -

The weapons in Metro is one of the reasons why it is so immersive. The weapon selections and conditions of the weapons actually make you feel as though you are in Russia after a post apocalyptic disaster.

Not confirmed but there is a strong possibility it will get added. I hope it really does as it will be my only food source.
