not to me. Arma 3 when maxed out has better image quality, better lighting, far better object render distance and sharpness. SA just looks like arma 2 to me. Right now arma 3 loos miles better than SA. However that should hopefully change.

I uploaded a video showing how it looks and works with a 7.62x51 rifle shot from 800m. The gut shot takes the person out and makes him bleed profusely. -

The last thing could be changed and I thought should be changed to state where you are just knocked out on the ground but can recover quickly You shouldnt be in a position to fight from that position. Should be like having your wind knocked out, your entire screen goes blurry and pulsates red for a few seconds and then begins to come back when you get up on your feet. -

Yea I thought of that. Having in game incapacitation would allow for KOS to be turned into Shoot on sight. Merely shooting someone as soon as you see them does not mean the player who was shot will die. The incapacitated player could be bandaged and taken hostage by the shooting player or once base building and construction is in, dragged into an enclosure and kept hostage. Possibilities would be endless. -

That could be pretty amazing. Zombie rushes you , you shoot it in the chest it falls but continues to crawl on its stomach trying to bite your legs. -
Not for me . There are two different settings view distance and object render distance. While the view distance seems nice and good in standalone at 3km the object render distance seems much lower than even the mod.

When he says stick and stones does he mean muskets and bows and spears or does he mean civilian hunting rifles, and scout rifles, semi automatic rifles etc. -

Yea that sucks. Part of the problem is servers and their stupid 2hour or 1 hour or less restarts. catering to the dummies that want to be fully geared within 10 minutes of spawning.

So a delay of like 1 second when you zoom in with a scope that give the game enough time to render grass in the scope ?

True but what happens after say 10 years. When there is no more food when people turn to cannibalism due to desperation? What happens when people who share a common interest in their survival and have come accustimed to liking the taste of human mean band together to murder, rape and kidnap women children and men in order

Well sure they can go with a totally new looking chenarus that is devoid of abundance and looks nothing like the calm cherno of now. I just imagine a scenario where say a massive global pandemic were to hit a pandemic that wipes out 99 percent of the globe. When that 1 percent is left when there is no rule of law I can easily imagine peoples true humanity coming out and by humanity I mean the monster inside. People would rape pillage , loot and murder. The land would become a constant struggle between factions who constantly wage war against each other for control of especially fertile land. They could always make animals scarce and justify it by saying there was over hunting and fishing leaving few wild game and many of the past species extinct.

They appear the same the only differnce is the standalone picture has absolutely crappy object render distance. Those mountains out back have no trees in them they are just bald and naked. The object render distance in stand alone is sooo crappy

I do hope you guys know that real home made ghilli suits stink like crap right. ghilli suits are itchy, smelly and hot. If they are added your character would need to occasionally scratch himself, your character would sweat profusely in the suit thus zombies would be attracted to the area where the ghilli wearing player is since they should be able to smell the sweat. With these small additions I doubt anyone would mind the suits.

Heh little do they know is if I had my way waiting to get the jump on someone would be even harder due to having to constantly monitor and care for your character. - Lay prone too long in a hill when there is high wind and it is cold your character begins to shake like crazy and you need to make a camp fire or put on warmer clothing to stop it. - Go too long without eating and your vision begins to blur do to malnurishment - Do not drink enough water and during long sprints your character just stops and a pain animation plays showing your character in pain from the cramps he receives. I could go on and on .

Ya a L1A1 + a g3 would fit the setting so perfectly and should be the creme de la creme of Battle rifles. They should have good thin useable iron sights for engaging at up to 600-800m. The only optics that should work on them should be their proprietary optics no stupid unrealistic crap like a LRS on a g3 or an acog. Something like these 2 wonderful models. They have really good iron sights and are quite serviceable at extended range. -

Absolutely no they did but not to the extent that US troops now do. Soldiers in the US military are issued optics all across the board everything from red dots to acogs to 1x-8x short dots are all issued by the military. I do not know how prevalent optic Use is with Eastern European Militaries are. Hopefully low for the games sake . Even more rare than ammo and weapons non hunting, variable, tactical and red dot optics should be the rarest thing in the game. Modern day military optics in particular should be so rare to find that you would be scared to even carry one around. -

I am with you. The over importance of Scopes and optics in dayz bugs me so much. It is who knows how long after the apocalypse yet the world is full of super expensive relatively fragile glass. Alot of the in games optics would be upwards of 3k dollars and would not be in huge quantities within chenarus. Wish the game was set in 1990 or something a time before military standard units used optics and optics were reserved for sniping units. Iron sights should be useful in game up until 600m with a weapon like an m16 and a m4. Useful up until 800 to 1000m with a weapon like a mosin nagant or m14. If only they never introduced the ACOG and the LRS in dayz and instead just kept the m4s with various red dots and fixed power hunting scopes like a 10x non variable mildot scope used for hunting. -
Frame rates should only go up from here. With more optimization people who run this game should be able to get better frame rates hopefully. Everyone who has arma 3 can see how much better optimized that game is even though it looks so much better than stand alone. Even with the more demanding visuals in arma 3 , arma 3 gets a much better frame rate due to optimization.

I think he is suggesting that zombies aggro on players even if they cannot see them because of walls. Just like players have magical floating cameras that allow them to see over structures and walls zombies should. I say why not.

One thing I think everyone can agree on however is that there needs to be a baseline level of graphics and certain things being forced to render in order to not give people who crank their graphics to the lowest settings an advantage. If anything those with high spec machines should be rewarded for pushing forward technology by having a the ability to render objects further, longer view distances etc.

So you are saying that Iron sights should be useless past 300m within the context of Arma and standalone or within the context of real life ?
