This has frustrated me since the first time I played....
gibonez replied to sea's topic in Suggestions
It is in the works AFAIK -
To be honest though an incosistent damage model is not a bad thing. If the game had injuries , realistic bleeding and better organ and tissue simulation a unrealistic damage model would be realistic. Some people die from a single .22lr gunshot to the chest while others take half a dozen or more 5.56 nato rounds to the same area. Injuries and bleeding at realistic and varying levels would add some consistency to a more realistic model.
-
Not nerfed you are just feeling the effects of an incomplete damage model. It is not nerfed or op at the moment it is simply inconsistent.

Awesome looks like the devs are starting to take steps to fix the third person view camera and prevent it from wall peeking. Look forward to testing this out and seeing it evolve to the point where you can't or almost can't wall peek.

I just see it as an initial look at means to hopefully end wall peeking and as a result improve gameplay. The mere fact that they are looking at it means they acknowledged the fact that wall peeking is detrimental to gameplay. So who knows maybe they do come up with an in engine solution to not rendering objects the player cannot see that works well with little to no performance loss. If that happens I would hope those improvements are passed down to Arma 3 also as that is another game that suffers from wall peeking and its negatives to gameplay.

Should weapon attachments only spawn on guns?
gibonez replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
The pso spawning on the svds only does not stop this. They could always remove the scope. Having the svd spawn without a scope would also kinda be unrealistic no? I don't think I have ever seen any in any conflict without one and I do believe they only come issued with them. It would be the equivalent of seeing a m40a3 rifle with no optics . -
Amen. I suspect eventually it will go the dot is actually also in Arma 3 when you use the function keys.

Blood and Bullet holes (Decals & Particle effects)
gibonez replied to LackLustreSurvivor's topic in Suggestions
Good stuff would not only be good for gameplay but it would immerse players more in the game. This combined with the injury system they have in the works will be fantastic. -
I hope not. If that were the case then Standalone would just be Arma 2 + zombies like the mod.

New "Protection" System (Login, Logout, Respawn, etc.)

Guess I might as well quote the new dev blog. -

It's a good move imo. -
From the latest dev blog so it looks like they might go to this route.

From the latest dev blog. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/222617-status-report-19-mar-15/ Really good stuff each weapon pick up will feel unique. Hopefully this ends up with every single weapon feeling unique. Maybe they might even only have weapon attachments spawn on weapons . -
I would be ok with the sights not always being dead on accurate. It is unrealistic to have every single weapon zeroed perfectly where the irons are as in reality most arent they are slightly off. This is especially true of Ak and mosin rifles ak rifles in particular are notorious for having canted front sight posts. Having misaligned sights, having the weapons of the same platform have varying degrees of accuracy depending on what weapon they are and condition are all realistic features that would spice up the gameplay and make scavenging and looting even more important. It would put an emphasis on every single gun you pick up being unique just like real life , and no longer would people feel completely satisfied by picking up any gun and going straight to pvp now looting would be more intricate.
-
Weapon resting might be a possibility in the future, Arma 3 is getting it after all. I can't see Dayz not getting it also. Weapon accuracy being affected by Barrel temperature, barrel condition might be a great way to change the weapon behavior in game so that engagement distances are indeed closer to reality. Perhaps we will no longer see silly 1300m mosin shots and as a result of realistic weapon accuracy, ballistics and gameplay mechanics even a 500m shot is quite difficult.
-
Well they do have a smaller hitbox so some people still would.
-
It is also not realistic to increase your fitness with merely an hour of running in game. If you had your character increase his endurance a tiny bit once a week of in game life then yea thats realistic.
-
Fatigue is perfectly realistic.
-
Arma 3s is pretty perfect if not a tiny bit too forgiving. Even if we got Arma 3s stamina and fatigue in it would not be anywhere near as punishing as it is in Arma since we arent lugging around heavy plate carriers , 20+ lb rocket laucnhers spare missiles + 400 rounds of ammo.
-
Already confirmed to be coming. Hopefully its as good as the Arma 3 system .
-
The heli was only a bi product of the mod being just Arma 2 + zombies and random loot. Standalone is trying to be a survival game first thus is why these things I don't see fitting.
-
Man I am really hoping they do indeed go with a realistic route when it comes to player movement. I am talking about full blown strive for realism.

Weapons that degrade require far too much cleaning
gibonez replied to infiltrator's topic in General Discussion
I was thinking something more along the lines of two completely different statuses. for example. Barrel quality : pristine - ruined Weapon condition = Clean - extremely dirty. Barrel quality is a random factor that determines the weapons base accuracy and cannot be changed. Offers a small variance in accuracy in modern weapons and large variance in historically inaccurate weapons. Weapon condition is a dynamic condition of the gun that can be fixed by cleaning the rifle. -

A dirty weapon should just be less accurate thats about it and the effects of fouling should happen quite quickly. Permanent damage from shooting however should not be a thing.
