Let me find out if he answers any question regarding the unrealistic attachment and weapon dispersion mechanics. I am sure someone on Reddit was bound to ask that question.
-
Yea more of a focus on cars and other auto mobiles would be better for the game. Helicopters should not be a thing. They have far too many negatives associated with them to warrant their introduction.
-
I thought it was a 75 round drum ?
-
Helicopters make no sense if dayz is going for the realism approach. The odds of not only finding a helo but also having a pilot + a person who knows how to maintain it would be far too rare for them to be plausable.
-
The biggest bonus is the stance system and the lack of unrealistic dispersion. Only negative is how crappy stratis is far too big and too bland of a map.
-
Helicopters would not be realistic. How would a random survivor know how to pilot let alone maintain a chopper. I agree no choppers.
-
Manually using the inventory menu. No need to clutter the scroll menu.
-
yes because cars and hunting are going to magically make the game not boring.
-
Cant you do that by punching a dead body, or using an axe on a body until everything is ruined ?
-
The movement is already super unrealistic and some of you guys want jumping too ? NVM the 15 mph sprint speed and the agility of a cat you gentlemen want to be able to jump too even though the player has 50+ pounds of gear and heavy clothing on him ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtvoFXxD0bs Jumping would just turn that unrealistic movement in the video even more unrealistic.

I never said that. I merely said if you want to run faster you can use money to make that happen. I doubt 10,000 mediocre devs will boost the speed of the games development. What might is hiring experienced devs who have worked on huge projects in the past. Or just bring in more of the Arma 3 devs inhouse those guys know how to make a game and an engine.
-
No but money would allow you to hire professional runners to either train you to run faster or hire enough to pick you up so you actually travel faster. Money = man power.
-
What does the add group feature do again ?
-
The mod support in the road map should be pushed up. I have faith in the Arma community not the devs. The community will fix all of the crappy stuff from stand alone.
-
Gasoline + matches any flamable fluid + matches Ruined gear on charred body that persists in server for immersion. That would be my ideal solution.
-
Sure but hackers can never be stopped but private hives and white listing + admins help fix the problem. Hackers are banned, if the admins are active, the whitelisting process provides another step of annoyance for a wouldbe hacker.
-
Yea I am hoping they scrap the current system all together and adopt a realistic system in the future. A system that is closer to the mods roots.
-
private hives + white listing + active mods = only way to fix this. This combination would not only fix hackers but fix 90 percent of the problems in the game. One server one character.
-
I quite like the models in dayz. The art team does a really nice job making good looking models. Just sucks they ruin them by making them react unrealisticly with the stupid dispersion and the gimmicky attachment system like a LRS on a mosin.
-
You almost read my mind man. I would not be here complaining if Stand Alone had no heritage or previous dayz mod to compare it to. We literally went from the mod which had pretty decent shooting mechanics due to its arma 2 roots to stand alone which is downright awful in comparison. Nobody who bought standalone at launch could have predicted how bad the shooting would be or how much it would differ from the mod.

This is a huge problem in the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtvoFXxD0bs Look at that does that look like its realistic.... Movement speed needs to drop, to atleast half the speed that is currently in game, we need a stamina system, and we need the gear we have on to affect movement speed. Biggest problem is the responsiveness of the strafing, you can zig zag like a proffesional athlete there is no sense of weight.

Arma 3 handles sway and dispersion perfectly fine. Especially with realism mods it makes 300m shots hard and 600 m shots quite difficult unless you rest your weapon on an object or deploy a bipod. ACE mod = Perfect when it comes to sway , dispersion and simulating real life gun accuracy. ACE mod has higher dispersion values compared to arma 2 and the sway and recoil is adjusted to accurate values however weapon resting and bipods play a big role for 200+ yard shots as they would in real life.
-
This is pretty much my problem with the current system. Due to this we remove skill from PVP and it merely becomes a game of luck and chance something that should never be in a sim.
-
Problem is the lack of ranges that go past 100y. :/ I wish I lived in California or Nevada where theres millions of acres of free public BLM land where you can shoot out in the wilderness. As for your comment. I realize people are not perfect shooters, heck in game the player holds the gun far steadier than I ever could unless I had a bipod or a sling tightly wrapped around me. However do you not think the random dispersion is the wrong way to represent inherent accuracy, dont you think, sway, recoil and other handling techniques would be better suited for this so called SIM ?

This is one aspect I found quite interesting about rusts development. Since rust is using the Unity engine they have access to the asset store. Rust has been buying community made assets for a while and frankly its pretty cool since the community has talent and the stuff they import looks great. I always wondered if this approach to buying outside models was normal within the industry and if it could for example be done in dayz to help speed up the slow slow slow dev process. That is perfect. Dayz Standalone is pretty much that right now exept with one thing, it does not have satisfying shooting or movement that cod has. Instead the movement seems even more unrealistic in dayz compared to cod. Players have the speed of a gazelle and the agility of a leopard. The only good thing they have done in the realism and movement front was the 1:1 movement + the amazing weight system for firearms. Nothing beats moving your eyes to the left and then seeing your gun catch up depending on the weapons weight.
